- Ever wanted a cubby hole bed but your sims can't walk an archway straight into a bed, well here's how to do it!

you could try reversing them and putting the first bed on the first floor and putting the other bed in the basement (not sure if it would work but it's worth a shot)

@@TatyPlaysGames when you watch a short, you can’t add it directly to a playlist. So you’ll have to go to your history and click the 3 dots, then click save to playlist. Then you should be able to add it.
I'm gonna try it with a smaller room and one bed... not sure if it will work the same, but thank you for the idea, all the same!

hot tip for T.O.O.L. users, when you have z fighting like the flashing bed frame here, scale one object imperceptibly smaller/larger than the other (0.9999 or 1.0001). doesn’t affect interactivity and is an easy invisible fix!
I've started a world where I'm planning to use just for building, so I get a chance to actually have freedom while building
I did the same i deletet every building and build everything myself
I would never be able to see past the clipping lol it would drive me nuts. But cute!
If you use tool mod you can stop the clipping just raise a bed by 0.001

I sort of made a twin version of this in a room makeover in another family's home. There was no space for their existing dresser without intruding on the nook bed a bit, so I hung curtains and made it all better.
tapped on this to see what bed was being used in the thumbnail bc i loved the dark mauve colours only to see it was a pastel bed that was in a basement 😭😭 i thought there was a new bed i hadnt seen before. oh well this was very cool

THE CLIPPING
Clipping can be fixed with TOOL mod

Great tutorial, but quick question- how would you stop the beds from glitching into each other?
You can use different beds, some don't glitch at all or if you're on PC you can download T.O.O.L mod and raise one of the beds by 0.001 and it'll stop all the glitching

You are correct, that's why the front bed is in the basement so it Fakes it being next to the archway :)
We are gonna ignore that I'm late but, if you want to you should be able to swap the bed placement so the one in the back is from the basement.

Does it have to be a big bed? Could you do a normal sized bed? Also why do you put it in the basement? Sorry I see people do it all the time but don’t know why
You can use two singles but one would still have to go in the basement. I’ve made easy versions of this but for this one I used an archway and beds aren’t functional next to them so to fake the bed being next to the archway you put it in the basement
Question!😊 Why do you not just delete the basement to fix the lighting? Usually you can just grab one wall, and slide it to its opposite wall to get rid of it without it deleting the objects in the basement, if that makes sense. Or does it not fix the lighting? No judgement, just curious😊
I did try this but the lighting on the bed then changed with the world, so if it’s night time it’s dark and day time really bright. So it doesn’t exactly match the other bed ☺️

you can just drag the basement away. don't delete, that deletes the object(s) too. just drag the arrow from one side to the other.
You can but then the lighting on the bed is different from the one in the room above. I drag it away when I don’t need to match the lighting

Maybe you could put the bed by the window in the basement and raise that one instead of the one by the door? To avoid the sim walking through it i mean. Or maybe that wouldn't be functional?
Yeah sadly that makes it not functional. Beds aren't functional next to archways thats the only reason I'm using two beds :)

It's so cute, but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better if the "functional" bed was the first and the second one that goes in the bottom was in the corner of the window, so the Sim wouldn't walk over it. (I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear)
Unfortunately it doesn’t work, the reason the functional bed is placed at the back is because beds aren’t functional in front of archways

Ich habe noch nie einen Menschen kennengelernt, der tatsächlich dominant war, wenn er es vorher angekündigt hat und genauso verhält sich das mit intelligenten Menschen. Sowas muss man nicht sagen, entweder man ist es und das merkt dann das Gegenüber auch oder eben nicht 🤷🏻♀️

maybe if you switched the bed placements it would be awesome. the walking through the front bed it so uncomfortable to look at 😅
Doesn’t work sadly that’s why I used two beds, beds aren’t usable next to archways so have to place it one tile away

Sadly it doesn’t work, beds don’t work next to archways. I have a 2x3 version but using a spandrel instead as sims can get into the bed with the spandrel next to the bed

Sadly not beds aren’t functional next to archways that’s why I put the first one in the basement 😊

Cute idea and concept but the clipping would irritate me during game play and my Sim walking through the bed would irritate me too. Personally I prefer function over aesthetic during game play. I don’t even like my plant leaves clipping into the walls or each other.

When your in the walls section there’s a tool called the basement tool, it’s the 5th one across in the walls section. Hope this helps

You can get rid of that weird shadow just by deleting the walls of basement
Deleting the basement makes the lighting different to the room above

Because beds aren’t functional next to archways so we put the front bed in the basement and raise it through the floor to fake the bed being against the archway

It's so hard to raise the second bed in the same exact hight, even with a wall it's always too underneath ou way over top
As long as the green grid sits just above the wall it should be perfect every time

Why do you have to do the basement thing? Couldn’t you just use a regular double bed? Why do you need 2.5 beds?

How do you know how much to raise the bed up in the basement? Lots of troubleshooting I assume??
No, just line it up with the top of the basement wall. But if you need exact numbers it's 30 times for short wall basement, 40 for medium and 50 for tall
If you made the first (front) bed on the main level and the second (further back bed) the one in the basement, wouldn’t that fix the Sim walking through it issue?
The reason the functional bed is at the back is because beds don’t work next to archways 🙂

I have another version using just one bed, but you have to use columns and spandrels because archways and beds next to each other aren’t usable
I feel like an easy fix would be to move the actual back so that its next to the arch no? The sim wont clip now right?

Beds don't work next to archways, that's why one bed is in the basement because it's technically not Infront of the archway just looks like it is. I do have another version using just one bed in a smaller room but using a spandrel instead of an archway

Looks good once she's in the bed, but the walk to it... no. And the textures of two half beds glittering with every caneramove... no. I love the archway though.
You can fix the glitch with different beds or tool mod. I know the walkthrough is annoying it’s just because beds next to archways aren’t functional. I made another version using spandrels so you only have to use one bed
The only bad things about this is, you can’t really do this on play station or x-box
