i like that each weapon runic attack names is based on their origin. Leviathan axe runic attacks name are about norse mythology, blade of chaos is about the greek mythology and the spear is about the spartans
Galve Storm was my favorite runic attack in the last game I always had it as the heavy attack, and much like it did for you, it helped a ridiculous amount when fighting Sigrun for me as well It will be deeply missed
@@agentmorph5829 glaive storm was insane because it was great in every situation. was excellent against strong single enemies like sigrun, but was also great when you were surrounded since it hit everybody i've been using Breath of Thamur because of its huge area and damage, so it also works well in both situations. very long cooldown though
The runic attacks are dope in ragnarök But in gow 2018 the screams kratos made when doing the runic attacks were so dope. They kinda "nerfed" his screams lol😂. But still great. GOTY

They look super cool!! It would be super fun a mode where, once you have defeated the game, you can use all runic attacks as normal combos without coldown just for fun as a sava god of war killing machine.
There's a lot of these Jack-a-boy never got/saw and I want to see how he reacts to them. There might just be a couple where he goes "oh that's actually pretty cool" after disregarding them the first time 'round.
Keep in mind that dmg, stun and Status effects may change depending on the build your using. Some are Rune based and some others are Strength based, also Luck stat may factor too.

Don't know what hades fire is but most of the runic attacks became normal attacks. Like all the charge the axe attacks and then R1, R2, throwing with R1 or R2 used to be 4 different runic attacks. The run and shield bash became an L1,L1 attack with a certain shield. The 3 axe attacks that left ice are a combo with R1,R1,R1, R2, R2, R2 with the runic attack being those 3 R2s. The runic attack that threw the axe, making it spin and then crashing to the ground became a L2+ Charge R1 axe throw. The runic attacks that charged blades and axe are the new mechanic where if you don't get hit, you can charge each weapon with their element with L1+triangle. The L2+ charge R1 with blades used to be a runic attack. The hold R1 with blades combo used to a be a runic attack. From what I've seen, the only runic attack that isn't 1:1 in Ragnarok is the one where Kratos throws the blades forward, sticking them in the ground, crossing the chains and then throws them upwards with flames. I'm glad that they implemented all these runic attacks into actual moves you can use at any time cuz gow2018 lacked in moveset and had way too many runic attacks that you won't use, ever, as so many of them were useless. 5 light and 5 heavy are PERFECT. Hell, I'm already not using most of them cuz some look lackluster without upgrades and they cost too much XP to upgrade. Less runic attacks that are ALL useful in their own way, are much better than like 20 per weapon, 10 light and 10 heavy, with like 3 of them being way better than all the others. I just wish they would have spaced them out better. They give like all the light ones first and then the heavy ones. It's weird. I'd rather get 1 light and then 1 heavy, 1 light, 1 heavy, on repeat. I got stuck with a single heavy runic and like 4 or 5 light runics for each weapon for way WAY too long, as i played the side stuff as soon as I can as I'm a completionist. The ONLY real thing missing in the game that doesn't make any sense, is the nare handed dodge attacks missing. Such a dumb oversight. That dodge punch should have been in the game as a default attack from the start. Any direction dodge+R1, you should get that step forward body punch. Maybe add a new dodge R2. THAT is the one thing that's really missing, not the stupid runic attacks that thank God god nerfed cuz gow2018 was fkn EASY because of these stupid runic attacks. They did so much damage and you had 4 of them. With some perks and cooldowns, you could literally spam them the whole time. Axe light runic, axe heavy runic, switch to blades, blades light runic, blades heavy runic...and your axe runics are ready or just wait a few second, dodge away, throw the axe a few times, use the relic for free damage like the slow down time, rinse and repeat. That was STUPID. I'm glad runic attacks in Ragnarok are super good but not OP. They are more about safe damage with frost and fire build up rather than pure DPS. It's so good that now every single runic attack has an use an they work for whatever armor sets and relics/incantations you use. Some do plain damage, some do frost and fire build up, some stun, some are all round jack of all trades masters of none, all of them do something and they are ALL good. I don't think there's a single one that is just plain bad or worse than others. You get multi-hit ones for crowd control hitstun and charge build up, you have single target dps, multiple targets dps, pure frost and fire build up, pure stun, the one spear attack that has crazy range, good damage etc... Every time i level one up and try it, I'm surprised that they are good. Even those that don't look so good with the stats showed. So in the end i just go with those that look fkn cool, like the one with the axe where you push an actual wave of ice or the one where you throw the axe and keep hitting it with the shield or the one where you soon the spear and then bonk with the shield pushing everyone away. All this time I've been using the lame looking light axe runic where you shoot a beam of ice while i could have been using any of them. Such a shame that i came to this realization only when doin the muspelheim trials and needed runics that would push enemies away from the rings that i had protect as that ice beam runic attack was a major waste of time.
@@kato093 I strongly disagree. Hades Fire was like Atlas Eruption. He used to crave the blades into the ground and send fire waves towards the enemies. One of the best and most classic for the blades that got dumped. There were also the Prometeu Flame (the one you mentioned) that was my favorite. He creates a blast from the ground hitting all the enemies above them on the screen no matter the distance they were and the Hyperion Slam where he'd jump and smash the blades into the ground causing a fire eruption. One or two missing for the axe also. I agree that these attacks should get nerfed specially because there is a new weapon with its own runics now. Still, the useless attacks becoming combo moves was cool, but definitely not the Knives River. It was also one of my favorites for the axe and they turned into a move that is pathetic, it's almost pointless because it has very little damage and the effects are not cool like the 2018's. The one thing I disliked from this game is the combat changes. In my view, there was no need to change anything and they fix some thing, but ruined others. That what happens when you fix something that ain't broken. But I still got hope that they will bring more runic attacks on updates, 5 is too low. And not all runic attack can be turned into moves, just the charging ou throwing weapons one.

My only complaint with the game is that I wish we could have gotten Thor's Hammer as a new weapon and I get it it's story reason and it's an heirloom I get that but I really really wanted to use that hammer
I noticed that with artillery of the ancients when i watched different streamers and youtubers play they never blew them up when they landed lol it actually used to make me mad
people are complaining how the runic attacks look weak, But i think its because of fimbulwinter, think about it. In norse mythology, it is said that fimbulwinter weakens most or all magic. So i think the devs purposely made the graphics for the weapons weak to make it more lore accurate.
Im kinda getting tired of them making everything lore accurate because of that the Combat feels weak and Odin is Trash. Sure He is Lore accurate but they could've simply make him Look cooler instead making him Look so weak and nothing special

Meh my favorite still on the blades of chaos are the cyclone of chaos mainly for the whole nostalgic feeling of using that attack back in the greek realm games and because kratos goes beyblade on his enemies its to fun XD
The runic attacks here just don't feel the same like it was in GOW 2018 it had a more satisfying and idk looked somehow more appealing to my eyes but hey its not even released yet so i can't go criticizing it now
Guys after seeing this I have a question. Do you prefer the new combat from GOW 2018 and ragnarök, or the OG combat from the older games? I personally like the OG style more, don’t get me wrong, I love the new combat but there is just something about the OG combat that hits DIFFERENT. But I like to hear what you guys think? New combat has some improvements but the visuals make me sick. Less particles, everything feels less heavy, runics are weaker, SAME exact runic animations have way less detail and a sense of impact (meteoric slam used to light the sky red and the fireballs animations looked better AND were larger), almost no slow motion, less fire, less ice, less fire sparks, WAY worse audio fx, less animation DETAIL (like how it looked like the blades cut the wind in 2018 and they took that away), the fire from the blades doesn't light up the background or reflect off of the floor now.... Fuck, they subtracted more than they added. They didn't have to trade impact for speed, but I suppose the developers thought otherwise.
Idk why but somehow the scream the dmg of the light and heavy runic from Kratos got nerft, it felt like it but I'm not sure since i don't have the game yet
Not only is 6 runic attacks very strong, there is a boatload of attacks and attack strategies and if you were able to deal enough damage with tunics alone the combat would be very boring… you also have the runic summon of atreus, your rage, your immolation and shield to keep track of so imo it’s good that runics are less useful.
Seems runic attacks have been nerfed to be finishers or just extra stun moves. With the less effects they do feel a little lackluster and I get they're maybe meant to signify how kratos tries to reserve his rage but yeah.
Its really just how ur using it and ur stats like vindslalr windstorm is good at stalling enemies and slowing down bosses,hades retribution is good at single dmg,flames of anguish can be good at stalling packed groups
Helios flare would be better if it was just a flaming head of Helios with fire dripping from his neck flying towards an enemy screaming “FEEL the power of the SUN!!!!”
...I miss River of Knives... Open with that against all Valkyries (followed with a lot of other attacks) and i just watch their HP melts... It's also my finishing blow against Sigrun...
One thing i didn't like about the Ragnarok game was the rhe removal of shockwaves from his melee attacks and other such effects that are supposed to show how mighty gods are supposed to be And also, all the boss fights lacked a certain kind of difficulty and powerful attacks from the villains

Only the OGs will remember Cyclone of Chaos as one of the memorable AoEs in most GoW games (1 up till even Ragnarok) even if it's a bit weak

Meh my favorite still on the blades of chaos are the cyclone of chaos mainly for the whole nostalgic feeling of using that attack back in the greek realm games and because kratos goes beyblade on his enemies its to fun XD

The runic attacks here just don't feel the same like it was in GOW 2018 it had a more satisfying and idk looked somehow more appealing to my eyes but hey its not even released yet so i can't go criticizing it now

Guys after seeing this I have a question. Do you prefer the new combat from GOW 2018 and ragnarök, or the OG combat from the older games?
I personally like the OG style more, don’t get me wrong, I love the new combat but there is just something about the OG combat that hits DIFFERENT. But I like to hear what you guys think?

New combat has some improvements but the visuals make me sick. Less particles, everything feels less heavy, runics are weaker, SAME exact runic animations have way less detail and a sense of impact (meteoric slam used to light the sky red and the fireballs animations looked better AND were larger), almost no slow motion, less fire, less ice, less fire sparks, WAY worse audio fx, less animation DETAIL (like how it looked like the blades cut the wind in 2018 and they took that away), the fire from the blades doesn't light up the background or reflect off of the floor now.... Fuck, they subtracted more than they added. They didn't have to trade impact for speed, but I suppose the developers thought otherwise.

Not only is 6 runic attacks very strong, there is a boatload of attacks and attack strategies and if you were able to deal enough damage with tunics alone the combat would be very boring… you also have the runic summon of atreus, your rage, your immolation and shield to keep track of so imo it’s good that runics are less useful.

Seems runic attacks have been nerfed to be finishers or just extra stun moves. With the less effects they do feel a little lackluster and I get they're maybe meant to signify how kratos tries to reserve his rage but yeah.
Its really just how ur using it and ur stats like vindslalr windstorm is good at stalling enemies and slowing down bosses,hades retribution is good at single dmg,flames of anguish can be good at stalling packed groups

Helios flare would be better if it was just a flaming head of Helios with fire dripping from his neck flying towards an enemy screaming “FEEL the power of the SUN!!!!”
And hades retribution should have like a little purple hint in the flame “with hades laugh bouncing off the fire

Just realized they nerfed both the axe and the blades so that the spear can be the stringest
...I miss River of Knives... Open with that against all Valkyries (followed with a lot of other attacks) and i just watch their HP melts... It's also my finishing blow against Sigrun...

One thing i didn't like about the Ragnarok game was the rhe removal of shockwaves from his melee attacks and other such effects that are supposed to show how mighty gods are supposed to be
And also, all the boss fights lacked a certain kind of difficulty and powerful attacks from the villains
