Wow - this was an interview/interaction for the 95% of us guitar players that are NOT shredders or even blues solo players. A guy who absolutely loves his guitars and gear and tones he gets while playing open chords. YES!!! What a cool sounding guy. Thank you for doing this.
Agreed! I’ve been playing for nearly 30 years and couldn’t play a solo if my life depended on it. I’m just one of the great many who like to play whole songs rather than parts; strumming chords rather than playing notes.
@@JetsonDrums Watching I can see how small Noel’s hands are so he I assume naturally played open chords but the real key to his genius is the intricate strumming which is incredible
I agree. I’m like only half way through this video and never laughed so hard and enjoyed the history of the band. If this vid doesn’t get over a million views it would be shocking. One of their best, and one of Noel’s as well. P.S. Johnny if you are reading this, can I have a guitar too?
@@endezeichengrimm most of the time yes. But this is the “most” open and candid I’ve seen him in a while (although this group of interviews he seems very willing to open up) Also can’t remember an interview with him lasting this long.
This is the best interview I’ve seen of Noel and can’t believe nobody has done it before. He’s talking so passionately about his craft and seems genuinely happy. For us Oasis fans who grew up learning guitar to his songs this is just pure gold. Thank you so much for doing it. I’ll watch it a million times throughout my life.
Yes a great interview Noel Gallagher is such an uncut gem isn't he? Pity about all the brown nosing going on though. That guy with the beard looked like he'd just come back from Tanzania
This has to be the most pure I've ever seen NG. Usually he's just cracking jokes or being very flippant in interviews but it's nice to hear him really discuss a passion we all share
I was playing guitar in bands in the late 80s then life took over and I put them away. I got married, had kids and was a working dad. Then I saw Oasis play live Forever on TOTP. The next day I picked up my guitar and realised how much I loved it. I carried on, joined a band, got signed, toured Europe twice. Thank you. And I’m from a council house in south Manchester
THIS! I worked with lads who were music masters and have never played outside of wedding bands. I cant string two notes together but have been all around the world playing in bands. I'm not a musician, im just a lad who jumps around with a bass. Viva la Salford!
OMG I just worked backstage doing hospitality/band chauffeur at a country music festival the past 2 days. If I had a shirt that said this, I would have killed it with the band members backstage 🤣🤣🤣
Mick's reaction to that chord from DLBIA was that of a man realizing he's been right all these years. Vindication! This was an absolute pleasure to watch and listen to, Noel came off as charming, personable, insightful. That's the TPS effect at work. You blokes are legends. Thank you!
I just realized that Noel and David Lynch have the same philosophy *and* favorite metaphor with regards to creating art. Fishing. Catching fish. Absolutely brilliant.
This is absolutely epic, through and through. The interview by the TPS crew is just sublimely detailed and fun… thanks for the shoutout Noel, me and the team massively appreciate it.
Absolutely amazing. I knew a guy at University, huge Oasis fan, who somehow got to help with transporting Noels guitars and gear from one studio to another. He cheekily opened a few guitar cases as he was working and found the 355 and couldn't believe his eyes. He said he cried himself to sleep that night. Can't imagine how magic it would be been to be in the room while you guys were filming, must have been electric! This kinds of things mean so much to people, me included. Great job guys, thanks for sharing this with us all!
I've noticed something underrated about Noel's technique, he hits the strings softly while the amps are all turned up. It really brings out the juice in the humbuckers and works really well for recordings. Really shows that how you play things matters a lot more than what you are playing.
Dont care what anyone says, noels one of the most underated guitarists of all time , written so many incredible riffs and guitar parts , perfect blend of rythem and lead parts listen to his playing on stuff like bring it on down, just flows so flawlessly with so much agression and feel , i dont agree with his own idea he wasnt a guitar hero , he was to me age 12/13 , kurt cobain also , i would put noels work above paul weller or john squire , not techically obviously but neither have his abilty with melody , hes no nick mccabe but hes def up there with the great guitarists
As a 41 year old who's been an avid Oasis fan since 95, and a guitar player starting in 94, this was one of the most compelling 2 hours I've ever watched. Absolutely incredible, and what a historical bit of content. Could watch this endlessly.
Man, what a treat. Noels enthusiasm is such a joy to watch...and he's right: playing guitar is heaven on earth! Thank you for making this happen, Mick, Dan you're doing some really brilliant interviews of late.
Best interview with a musician I’ve seen on TH-cam. Getting to know the stories, amps, pedals and guitars behind the songs, and Noel playing them off the bat, gave me goosebumps
There are great interviews out there, it's probably because you are a fan. If it wasn't for this, the Johnny Marr interview probably wouldn't have happened. I like it even more than this one. I'll probably watch that one more because I'm a bigger fan of his. But I love both.
Apart from beeing the best interview of him I've ever seen, it is a huge lesson in songwriting, music and life in general. Thanks guys for making this a milestone of inspiration for me. Cheers from Germany, Julien
@@txplf23 Also not machismo and ego all over the place. he's always been very down to earth when it's a one on one interview. Then whole " Im the best ever " stuff was - by his own admission - a joke and usually when he had an audience to play up to. He once said ' the whole ego thing is just tongue in cheek cause you don't know how long your career will last so i'm just having fun with it. " or something like that.
OK, that's the best interview I've ever seen. Noel just opens up and lets all his tonal secrets fly. The looks on Dan and Mick's faces are to not to be missed. I am going to have to watch this repetedly for I don't know how long, and I'm a thrash metal guy by design, but have great reverence for Noel and Oasis. They were the right band with the right sound at the right time in history, and you can tell that Noel realizes that and appreciates it.
I’ve never seen Noel like this. I had no idea he was so enthusiastic and passionate about playing and guitar gear. This was brilliant to watch. Such a cool guy.
And to think there are people who can’t stand him, baffling when the guy is only ever been genuine. Behind the scenes of the band he may be different but he’s only ever cared about the music.
I think it's that harmonic in twilight by u2 that kinda just barely skates by because it's a harmonic Idk what the note is but I know that feeling of being on your way out of the key and into another like you walked up to the wrong door at the market grocery
Best interview he's ever done. He's so at ease here, the Oasis talk is not forced. I would assume this is as close to everyday Noel Gallagher you'll ever get in an interview
Didn’t think i could watch 1hour 50 mins of any interview but watched the whole thing with a smile on my face, what a legend, so honest and down to earth.
Probably one of the best interviews of any musician I have seen recently. Noel in particular can be a tough interview. If he’s not engaged or feels there is no thought in the interview, he can get snarky and abrasive, a bit like John Lydon. Seeing him reminisce and geek out with such enthusiasm is a testament to you guys. Thanks so much for a singularly enjoyable 2 hours.
The best interviews is when the interviewee is open and comfortable. That's the main thing here. He's mostly just talking with very mild steering from the boys
That is one the best guitar interviews I’ve ever seen. Pretty much kept on track and hearing those massively familiar sounds through the actual rigs is absolutely ridiculous. Really looks like Noel had fun and it’s pretty obvious this was so much fun for you guys. The looks on your faces when he plays the songs is priceless. Well done, brilliant job!

We can think whatever we want about Oasis but it is hard to deny this guys have written a piece of music history. Back in the days, I was madly fan of britpop music with incredible bands such as Supergrass, Pulp, Radiohead, Suede, Elastica... and of course Blur and Oasis. This episode is much more than a perfect interview of Noel, it is like a time machine bringing us back to these golden years of f*****g good music! Thank you Noel and thank you TPS for making it happen! ❤
50 Minutes to end this and I have to say this is the best of the best interviews I have seen of NG. This is the real Noel. A real fanboy of Rock 'n' Roll culture. I always thought of him as a mystical somehow and this is the proof. That's why Oasis touch many people's hearts, because this genuine stories behind the making of all this recordings and songs, that now are collective memories for millions. I love music because of this backstories.
Micks face is classic. Looks like he has just had every wish come true all at once .watching Noel's s don't look back in anger. This is undoubtedly the best pedal show episode yet. Great jobs guys and many thanks to Noel.
There’s a TH-cam video about Vox history where the guy (obviously a bid fan) interviews Brian May. When Brian demonstrates how he gets the solo sound for Rhapsody by cranking the amp the guys turned to the camera and his face just says “toddling off to Heaven”. There were moments here a bit like that.
The legions of bedroom guitarists and self proclaimed axe meastos who slag off Noel, when the reality is his music defined an entire generation, is a bona fida British musical legend and wrote some classic songs and amazing riffs.
bullshit, he's nothing like chuck berry and not even close in terms of playing ability, berry wrote a lot more songs than noel has as well, he was prolific.
"some of the best concerts I ever played were in my bedroom" - thanks for inspiring so many of us to do the same, Noel. I had many a concert in front of the mirror in my middle school / high school days before I got to play on stages, and I would play through What's The Story? Morning Glory for hours up hours. I love the humility of Noel knowing that while he is not the best guitarist, he is an iconic one, and more importantly a great songwriting guitar player who understand melody more than most. I can't agree more with him when he says there are plenty of guys playing flashy stuff with zero substance and no hooks - they will NEVER be remembered. Noel will never be forgotten comparatively...I still can't believe part of his early great sounds was a Marshall Valvestate with only a 12AX7 in it! From the bedroom to the stage indeed.
I adore seeing Mick and Dan's faces while listening to Noel play. Such appreciation and contentment. I really appreciate the love y'all share with us. Thank you.
There’s something about Noel sitting in a chair just strumming his guitar that makes perfect sense. You can see it now and over the years when he’s performing solo acoustic tunes on stage. He looks so happy in a way he doesn’t when he’s with the band. You can see the teenage boy in his bedroom room at perfect peace with the world.
Already the first 40 seconds of this video absolutely blew me away. The sound is so immense. Hearing this part isolated and played by Noel is insane. Never would have thought. Goosebumps.
Such an underrated guitarist. Even the early albums were choc full of really good guitar parts. I love the fact that he's just a guitar nerd like the rest of us! Who knew????
This is without doubt the best Noel interview I've seen. No persona BS, great Q's and some absolute gold insights from the man himself. Thanks to all involved and a special thanks to Noel! Life wouldn't have been the same without your musicianship 🙌😎

What a great interview. There is something about Noel that makes you want to listen to what he has to say. Hearing stories of how your favourite songs were born never gets old.
Watching Mick stare at the mute pedal as the amps hissed had me dying. I know that feeling! Needless to say, amazing interview. It gave me a new appreciation for Noel as both a person and a musician. Thank you Dan and Mick, and especially thank you Noel.
I’m guilty of forgetting what a talented guy Noel is and usually an interview with him just makes me think he’s a gobshite with a ton of attitude but hearing him talk passionately about his music and recognising his integrity is so refreshing. Loved particularly how he suggests an album is a completely different entity to a live performance which is something I’ve always felt myself. Brilliant listening guys. Inspiring me all over again Noel, thanks mate
Just listening to him talking about guitars and music and songwriting brings me right back to 1990's and how he inspired so many other people to pick up guitar including myself so i say THANK YOU NOEL GALLAGHER for the best days ever ❤❤
What a joy! One of the all-time classic TPS episodes, no doubt whatsoever. And soooo pleased to hear Noel’s love for the Page - as he says, one of the greatest pedals in history and Simon is a genius. This was such a highlight in every single way - well, well played boys, and Noel - truly, you’re the real deal rock ‘n roll star for millions and millions of us.
Now, THIS is what's really BIBLICAL. Team Noel just got another member, lol. This literally brought me to tears a few times throughout. This is the sound of my life being dissected!! Thank you guys forever for getting the opportunity to shoot this video with the legend and The Chief himself proving that all you need is a f... This has to be the best chat I’ve seen with a fabulous songwriter and guitarist I’ve seen next to Tom Petty’s interviews with Paul Zollo. Fucking fabulous. Thank you.
This is one of the best episodes yet. Noel is a great storyteller and while he's aware of the influence he's had on music he's still humble and fun, the cheeky jokes make it all even better. Wonderful watch and big inspiration spark, thanks TPS!
Dan, Mick, I am 4:35 in the video and I feel magic in the air (can't explain it in human words). I can already tell it's your best upload ever. Thank you so much and of course, thank you, Noel, for taking the time to do it. It mean so much to me and I'm sure to many others too!
I know this is a year old and I’ve already commented when it came out but I still can’t get over how awesome this is. To me this is without qualification one of the all-time top 10 guitar show episodes.
Got to love how modest and humble Noel is, he knows he’s not a wizard on guitar but he more than compensates for his with his exceptional songwriting ability
It’s not just the songwriting , but the melodies as well. Noel’s hooks stick in your head forever. Supersonic, Live Forever, RockNRoll Star, Some Might Say, Champagne Supernova, etc.
Incredible episode. Cranked the knebworth concert in the car on the way home after watching. The joy you could see on the guys faces at the end playing through Noel’s rig was just incredible.
Utterly compelling stuff gents, I can't thank you enough for it. Noel and Oasis were the soundtrack to my second decade and have persisted ever since. Sitting here, listening to him playing these songs that feel absolutely life-defining, tears streaming down my face, feeling things that only guitars and music can make me feel. I will come back to this video for a long time to come, I have no doubt. What a great day. Thank you!
Great session!!! When I first heard Oasis guitar riffs back at their time, it made me stop and I actually had some trouble finding that band’s name at first. It speaks volumes to you guys that Noel is that much at ease and is happy to tell you - and us - his musical story! He also was prepared by going through his old gear, wow! Your format gives him room, proper time, the tools and no rush - a document for music history almost. And seeing all the reactions here - we practically all are happy listeners... so thank you all and super well done!
I owe Dan and Mick so much gratitude after watching this episode a couple of months back. I am 67 and started playing acoustic guitar two years ago. And because of my age it was more my kids that knew Oasis, and whether it was the stories about the drugs and alcohol, or the bad behaviour, or not, whilst I knew a few of their songs, I confess that I ignored them as a band. This interview had me hooked, and I have now watched so many of Noel's interviews (still ignoring Liam), and High Flying Birds footage, that most of the songs I am playing on the guitar are Noel's songs. I owe Noel an apology for ignoring his talent for so long. What a gem. My Noel Gallagher playlist is now on high rotation. Can't watch a NG interview without getting a laugh (brilliant sense of humour, well grounded, and someone who definitely does not take himself too seriously). Thanks to all.
I have to say this is the best ever interview I’ve seen with Noel Gallagher. His knowledge and passion for music drips throughout. Been a fan since the start of his journey and was fortunate to see Oasis live in ‘97. People around me loved Liam but I always said Noel was a total geezer. Couldn’t take my eyes off him throughout the gig and the playing was next level. His originality and songwriting is why I’m still a fan after nearly 30 years. He’s THE MAN!!!🎸🔥👍🏻
Just got tickets to see him in Wythenshawe. Taking my 16 year old daughter along. She’s buzzing. And I can point to Noel and say “Now that is a Songwriting Genius Right f!?;)ing there 😂👍🏻
"We're not here to sound like the record...we're playing a gig!" That was music to my ears! I wish more bands/artists/FoH engineers understood this concept!
Amen to that. Gary Moore as prime example. What he did live sounded better than any record he ever put out. John Mayer sounds way better live. I prefer Prince live over studio any day of the week. And so on. Just because they roll with it. It sounds like it sounds at that specific moment in time. And you get to be there knowing it's unique for that moment. You can always feel it happening in the crowd. This moment is ours and we get to share it.
Thank you for this. People have been wanting this since the internet was invented. He famously never really talks about his guitars or gear. Many people will be happy this exists, especially the focus on his early sound. Thanks ThatPedalShow ✌🏻

Noel’s such a down to earth guy here especially when he’s talking about his craft. He almost always graciously references Johnny Marr demonstrating he never forgets his beginnings. What a stand up guy. I’m going to see him in concert on June 27th in Chicago. Can’t wait. Thanks guys for this interview!
@@Robstrap I agree he was very cocky in the years leading up to the last decade but the key word in my first sentence is the word here. Meaning he really came off as being down to earth HERE in this interview! He definitely has mellowed and in some of his interviews of the last couple years he demonstrates this. Especially in this interview. He’s not acting the maggot or the prick. Nor is he being bombastic. He is a great interview.
@@Postglobalism You mean he can’t play guitar well? He even admits that in a interview from a few years ago. Great guitar players are many, very few can’t sing well or write epic songs for a generation as Noel has. I even remember him saying he isn’t great at guitar or singing but put that together with his compositions, you get a legend! So, not so much rubbish.
Without doubt , I could listen to Noel talk all day , sometimes if I'm feeling low I will watch one of his interviews, his stories of meeting other celebs are fantastic
This is, with the possible exception of every John Leckie interview I’ve seen, without any doubt, the best musician’s interview EVER. Noel is charming, engaged, full of love for his instrument(s), music in general, as well as all the other musicians he’s worked with or admires, and, best of all perhaps, you guys gave him the space to chat and just be himself. He’s actually the complete opposite of the pre-conceived media-based public persona some of us have been encouraged to disparage over the years. He’s nothing like that person at all. He’s the personification of good grace and respect for others, not to mention hugely talented as a composer and musician. So glad I watched this, and I’m going to recommend it to all my snooty muso mates! Thanks for taking the trouble guys!👍 Steve, a bloody drummer, Blue Mtns, Australia.
PS: I really want to give Noel kudos for his part in the Rockfield documentary too; he not only agreed to be interviewed, but travelled down to the Farm for a walk around and catch up with the family, which was sadly brief but must have meant a lot to them all. Good job.

Noel is the bedroom strummers hero! I play Half The World Away every time I pick up my guitar, lol.
@@JetsonDrums
Watching I can see how small Noel’s hands are so he I assume naturally played open chords but the real key to his genius is the intricate strumming which is incredible
In other words, people who don't really play guitar.

Excellent conversation with Noel. The boys are becoming masters of the guitar interview. 🎸
I agree. I’m like only half way through this video and never laughed so hard and enjoyed the history of the band. If this vid doesn’t get over a million views it would be shocking. One of their best, and one of Noel’s as well. P.S. Johnny if you are reading this, can I have a guitar too?

It’s probably quite refreshing for him to speak about gear and the musical process as opposed to people begging him to bring back oasis

This is without a doubt the ultimate Noel Gallagher interview. I’ve been waiting for this for years. Only 20 mins in and I know its the best
Took me by surprise - such a complete interview and a lovely ride
I was playing guitar in bands in the late 80s then life took over and I put them away. I got married, had kids and was a working dad. Then I saw Oasis play live Forever on TOTP. The next day I picked up my guitar and realised how much I loved it. I carried on, joined a band, got signed, toured Europe twice. Thank you.

This is absolutely epic, through and through. The interview by the TPS crew is just sublimely detailed and fun… thanks for the shoutout Noel, me and the team massively appreciate it.
I mean I think if Noel gave me a shout out, I don't think I'd get any work done for weeks!
A worthy recipient. Delighted for ya Adrian 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@Doves Right? Lolol
Finally! I’m glad Noel was up for this. These are the kinda musicians I want to learn about - proper songwriters!

@@txplf23 Also not machismo and ego all over the place. he's always been very down to earth when it's a one on one interview. I could listen to Noel all day. He is dry, honest, real, funny and a true lover of music and he's great!
And to think there are people who can’t stand him, baffling when the guy is only ever been genuine. Behind the scenes of the band he may be different but he’s only ever cared about the music.
“The note that sounds like a weeping Middle Aged woman peeling an onion” is the absolute best description of anything I have ever heard 😂
he must mean a flat 6 cause he used the tritone himself a lot of times.
I think it's that harmonic in twilight by u2 that kinda just barely skates by because it's a harmonic
Idk what the note is but I know that feeling of being on your way out of the key and into another like you walked up to the wrong door at the market grocery
Possibly a pinched harmonic.
It’s the “blues” note
Which only works as a passing tone which is that crying singing quality he describes
Hands down the best Noel interview ever. I love how you left all the footage in... it makes it feel like you're there in the room. Thank you!

The legions of bedroom guitarists and self proclaimed axe meastos who slag off Noel, when the reality is his music defined an entire generation, is a bona fida British musical legend and wrote some classic songs and amazing riffs.
He's a song writer more than he's a guitarist.

Noel is like the chuck berry of the 90s. So many killer riffs that kids will be playing for many more years to come.
He is a riff master
I’ve never thought of him as a riff master. He’s more of the master of open chord songwriting master.
bullshit, he's nothing like chuck berry and not even close in terms of playing ability, berry wrote a lot more songs than noel has as well, he was prolific.
He's the melody master

I've been waiting for an interview like this for years, thank you so much guys! It would be awesome if you brought Johnny Marr on the show as well.
Liam is a great singer and frontman, has also done well for himself since Oasis
Of all the interviews Noel has given this is the most interesting and entertaining a true legend in his own life time
You lived it!!! Good on
I have to say this is the best ever interview I’ve seen with Noel Gallagher.
True ! I get annoyed when people say " Wow , Band X sounded just like the record ! "
Unfortunately that's what most people want
Amen to that.
Gary Moore as prime example.
What he did live sounded better than any record he ever put out.
John Mayer sounds way better live.
I prefer Prince live over studio any day of the week.
And so on.
Just because they roll with it. It sounds like it sounds at that specific moment in time. And you get to be there knowing it's unique for that moment.
You can always feel it happening in the crowd. This moment is ours and we get to share it.
This guy has totally nailed that Oasis sound. So uncanny.
Thank you for this. People have been wanting this since the internet was invented. He famously never really talks about his guitars or gear. Many people will be happy this exists, especially the focus on his early sound. Thanks ThatPedalShow ✌🏻

Noel Gallagher is not down to earth in any meaning of the word.
This is beyond words! One of my heroes and always loved his sound. Thank you so much!
Noel is one of the best storytellers.
Thanks for taking the trouble guys!👍

PS: I really want to give Noel kudos for his part in the Rockfield documentary too; he not only agreed to be interviewed, but travelled down to the Farm for a walk around and catch up with the family, which was sadly brief but must have meant a lot to them all. Good job.
