FINALLY!!! "PLASTIC BEACH" GORILLAZ-Album Reaction/Review

- Finally, a couple of months since I checked out my first Gorillaz's project "Demon Days" I have decided to check out their follow ups project "Plastic Beach" I truly had no idea what to expect when I first checked out the band and was pleasantly surprised with the electronic sound they provided. This album extends that sound and features a cast of features.
My name is Jack and I love music, in particular Hip Hop, I decided to make this channel as a way to engage with other music lovers and because there doesn't seem to be a lot of reaction channels on TH-cam...My goal has always been to be open to all types of music regardless of my love of Hip Hop, on this channel you can expect a rich array of genres. On melancholy hill is easily one of my all time favorites. It’s such a beautiful song

Sweepstakes is one you'll randomly let play through later on and suddenly you get it. It just clicks.

I recommend watching the live version of Sweepstakes, i think it was the best performance i have seen.

By far my favorite Gorillaz album. 21 years of following this band closely and Plastic Beach is still the one that I can put on any day and just have a blast listening to front to back.
Sweepstakes became one of my favorite songs over time. I hope you can come to like it 😁

The cinematic quality on Cloud of Unknowing - Damon loves Morricone, even wrote a Blur song called that. Takes a lot of inspiration from his soundtracks. The theme of the album is environmental. Damon noticed how much literal plastic was washing up on the local beach in Devon.
Gotta share a couple concert anecdotes 😄: Brooklyn 2018, my daughter started weeping during On Melancholy Hill and Damon came over to hold her hand during the next song (El Manana). Montréal 2022: Damon and the band sound checked Some Kind of Nature, ran through it a couple times - it didn’t make the show but Glitter Freeze did, which was ample compensation 💓 Seems that you’ve become a true fan and I hope you can see them live at some point

They are so great in their flow. They grasp Trip Hop so great like Massive Attack or Morcheeba etc.
This is an album which I was never a massive fan of but it's grown to be one of my all time favourites, glad you checked it out! :)

This is definitely in my top 25 albums of all time. The perfect example of an album that utilizes features to the utmost.

@@user-boobs Nice! Well, some Beatles albums, few Pink Floyd albums, Depeche Mode, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Tame Impala, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, are some examples.
@@sebastianexisting lmaoo my favourites are also probably anything from Radiohead and Nirvana, many Pink Floyd records, most things from the Beatles, Alice in Chains, some Soundgarden and Pearl Jam albums, Metallica, Daft Punk, Blur, Suede, the Prodigy, Kasabian
… mainly rock but also things from other genres like rap and country, also love classical

Gorillaz man, such a great musical concept, executed so well! Though have to say due to the unique creative founding collaboration, you're missing out if you don't watch the music videos as well.
Also, not to be a broken record but crossing my fingers we get you reacting to trip hop royalty, Portishead's, debut album, Dummy, one of the all-time greatest debut records of all time.

I suggest you to react to "Computer World" by Kraftwerk (1981). It sounds so modern because modern music was inspired by this album. Big influence on hip-hop, techno and synth pop music.
I love this album so so much!! Such brilliant writing, instrumentation, lyrics, and the use of features were done so well. I love Damon Albarn, all of his bands, not just Gorillaz.
I think you’ll really like their most recent album, Song Machine Season 1. It’s top three for me. But make sure you listen to the deluxe version because there are extra songs on there which you can’t miss out on.
But also all of their albums are great and have a lot to offer, each with such a unique identity. I’d love for you to react to ALL of them 😍
I don't know if I'm too late or not but the whole reason why everything has 8 bit or Electro type beat is because the virtual band two of the members were just missing so the basis had to make a Beat by using computers.

I like how to binge is almost a "Hawaii like" song while it talks about how alcohol destroys couples. Going in depth from the surface

@@cavemanjack Blue is their first release and Pinkerton is their second, there's a really cool evolution of sound between them so I'd recommend listening in that order
You should listen to their self-titled album, still pretty good even today.
I reckon one day I will for sure, the albums I have heard have made me really love their sounds and I just want to soak up as much of their discography as possible now lol
@@cavemanjack yeah, I just finished listening to all their stuff, actually really enjoyed humanz and the now now, song machine is pretty good, and I saw you did cracker island as well. The fall has some very unique sounds to it as well. Also, if you listen to humanz, make sure to include sleeping powder.
