Now that you have listened to In Rainbows, you should totally listen to the From the Basement session, it's mind boggling how they make this magic happen.
I would agree. It's their most consistently listenable for me. I would probably say Moon Shaped Pool is a close 2nd. That's just my personal preference though.

Tbf all of their album covers represent the feelings of the album very well. The artist is so talented and the album covers are a very important part of how the albums feel to me
It's hard to articulate exactly what I mean, but it got me even more coming from Thom Yorke. I love his lyrics but most of the themes are cynical, surreal or metaphorical. But this feels like a moment of stripped down kindness and love

You crying in the end was a beautiful way to close the video and it sums up radiohead for most of us. It's not just music, It's so much more than that.
Videotape is such a powerful song man. The feeling of ending a chapter with someone important in your life. Whether it’s a breakup or a death, just telling that person that the best times you had with them will always hold a special place in your heart
in rainbows is definitely a summer album for me because it feels so warm. it hit me instantly but after a few more listens it became my favourite album of all time
I’ve always felt In Rainbows is the summer album to A Moon Shaped Pool as a sister winter album. They have a similar sonic landscape, guitar tones, strings, atmospherics etc but one is more mellow and wistful and the other is much more raw and vibrant
This album meant a lot to me as a young adult. They released this album for free (or rather using a ‘pay what you want’ model) on their website. This was way before music streaming was even a thing, of course. It was a bit of a publicity stunt, but it worked in their favor. I downloaded it for free, burned it on cd, but also ended up buying the cd AND the vinyl over the next year they released it. Really was an anomaly, release-wise.
I love how you don't stop and pause the song multiple times throughout the listen. You let the music do the talking and I have nothing but respect for that. Been here since the first radiohead reaction, keep doing what you're doing mate!
Funny you say that Jigsaw would be a great song to see live, because they RARELY play this song. Insanely hard to keep that drum rhythm going for 4 minutes live. I wish they played it more
i think the problem Is the vocal range change during the beat goes round and round, thom struggles reaching the lower notes, and that is like 60% of the song. Phil is incredible and i dont really think he should have issues playing it, hes a human metronome hahaha

the guys in Radiohead almost lost their minds producing and recording this album. It was a hard one to make. This is their most warm and human album by far. I heard Weird Fishes playing really loudly in a record shop the day this came out. Didn't realise it was Radiohead at first, but it genuinely took my breath away and made me stop in my tracks. F***ing brilliant song.
I really appreciate this guy's approach to reaction videos. Is so annoying when people stop and start videos. Is great to just see someone immersing themself in the song and so frustrating when you're anticipating them experiencing a certain "moment" you've loved for ages and they pause right before. Great stuff!
Videotape is about a somebody dying and leaving a video for their family, the drums at the end are meant to sound like the tape coming to the end, awesome👌
I was lucky enough to be at their 2006 Bonnaroo show where they played Weird Fishes, Videotape, Nude, Bodysnatchers, and House of Cards almost a year and a half before the album came out. Hearing these new songs live (and all their stuff I already knew by heart) was absolutely amazing. All these years later, it’s still, hands down, the best live show I’ve ever been to. They are unbelievable.
I was there too!! By far the best live show I’ve ever seen, still! And I’ve seen them numerous other times. It was such an incredible experience. I’ll never ever forget it. I actually have a picture of myself looking up at the Jumbotron while Thom is on it and I look like I’m glowing! What a night.
My dude... this video and these songs have changed my day... I can remember on a visceral level what it was like to sit down and hear all of these songs for the first time... It was amazing. This album is everything good, hype, pretty... absolutely lovely.
Imagine the confidence of the band when they said #pay what you want# for this masterpiece. They are really such of artists. Every song of this album is a masterpiece.
I first heard In Rainbows a few months after its release after my older sister had recommended it to me. It was my first exposure to Radiohead beyond Creep, so I was not expecting for the album to sound like it does. Thank you for sharing your story, always love hearing how people found these albums! Thank you for your kind comment, hope to see you again on the channel soon!
I love that Nude and Videotape made huge impact on you, as I truly feel they are the clear highlights, along with maybe Reckoner and Jigsaw falling into place. Can't wait for you to react to A Moon Shaped Pool. By FAR their saddest album, and the closer is out of this world. The album circles alot around Thom's divorce, and sadly his ex-wife dies from cancer after the album was released, which just puts a very gloomy and heavy post-feel when listening back.
Great record and reaction mate. King of Limbs next? It’s a very challenging record but with some unreal moments. Codex being the standout for me. No secret now that you love the slower songs, you will really love A Moon Shaped Pool, every song is just as euphoric and amazing as the last. True Love Waits is the closer, that song will send you places! Enjoy 🤝
Yeah TKOL is such a neat pit stop departure from the sound they solidified on In Rainbows and expressed at its apex on AMSP. I love that they decided to experiment with a different sound even so late into the band's career.
I was way late to the party - October 2021 was when I heard this album. My first Radiohead album. My parents must be so sick of this one by now. I never stop playing it. It's on constantly - in the car, in the shower, on my record player. It's a timeless masterpiece and it floors me every single time I hear it. One of the greatest albums I have had the pleasure of hearing.
yeah, the album hit me right away. i downloaded it in the morning and started listening on the drive to school. I paused. Listened to Nude while sitting on a bench before class and got chills....at the moment I knew the album was gonna be special.
THANK YOU! I can tell how authentic your reaction is, you appreciate this music like we do and I appreciate this channel. There are no skips here, none imo, it’s like walking through the most incredible art exhibit imaginable, each piece with its own mesmerizing qualities. It feels like an homage to Dark Side of the Moon Much to me, glad to hear you will be relistening to this album because it is in fact better with every listen, but PLEASE do look into the From The Basement TH-cam vids, much love bro!
Almost all of Radiohead's albums take me several listens to really get into, but they're like gifts that keep giving - discovering new elements with each listen. This is one of my all-time favourite albums, glad you enjoyed it. You should watch their performance of this album in its entirety: Live from the basement (2008)
What strikes me the most after all these years is that In Rainbows is so mature. I still love OK Computer and those early records but In Rainbows is not as immediate as OKC but it is so articulate and the perfect statement. My absolute favorite from Radiohead. They have so many 5/5 records but this one to me - it’s so beautiful. IR has been my contender for the best album of all time for several years.
Cant forget the drummer is fkn spot on- precise timing always. ....in addition to all the other comments saying this is an all time favorite album, and the talent of everyone involved.
Definitely an album that grows on you over time. When I first listened I thought it was a pretty good album, but it didn’t hit me until repeat listens. Every. Single. Time. You will find something new to love in every song and it is now one of my favorite radiohead albums of all time. Absolutely beautiful collection of music
This album is so fkn romantic. I always cry when I listen to this album because you feel it in the notes, the emotive lyrics that explore human behavior. Additionally, the growth. The fkn growth in their sound. Ugh…. This album always reminds me of that lover that you had to part ways with even though the feelings will always remain.
Oof I know what you mean with that feeling, perhaps a reason why it's my favorite album from them. Nostalgic warmth and comfort, mixed with melancholy.
In Rainbows Disk 2 (the bonus disk of b-sides released with the special edition vinyl and cd) is also just as good in my opinion. Also I hope you appreciate the next album, The King of Limbs (TKOL). Most people prefer the live "From the Basement" version of TKOL, but the studio version is what got me into Radiohead in the first place back when I saw the CD on the shelf at target in 2011 and decided to give it a whirl. "Bloom," "Little by Little," and "Separator" completely changed my perspective on the future of music at the time.
I appreciate being able to listen to this for the first time again, through you. After so many years of admiring and celebrating the experience of this album, I traversed between jealousy and pride in the recognition of your joy. Cheers!
OK, this is my third and final comment. What an amazing 10 years… OK, computer, kid A, Amnesiac, hail to the thief, wrapping up with in rainbows… they all hit hard, and from the very first listen in rainbows was a powerful album. This album has the most songs currently in my rotation, and still very much a part of my current musical lexicon. In my circle… And it must be noted… we largely listen to hip-hop… But in my circle, it was the album that everybody agreed on the most, and thought was the best from the very first listen. I have always taken a Radiohead album and excepted it as it was… With no complaint, but for the very first time I will say, I miss this brand of Radiohead… It was the culmination and the pinnacle for me. To be clear, Radiohead and Thom Yorke have many other songs that are my favorites, but as a whole, this is probably my favorite album.
Agreed. I love a lot of their other albums but I think In Rainbows feels less experimental and more assured than any other album. Almost a dance album in some respects. Like they set out to make their own twisted version of a pop album.
I was one of the people who were really waiting for this reaction, and it was awesome to finally watch it; it felt very emotional. If there's one thing i can assure you is you're gonna love A moon shaped pool as well
I remember waiting up till midnight to get the download code. Listened to it while laying on my bed, and to this day it is the most memorable first listen I’ve ever had. Cried most of the time!
I've been a RH fan for 7 years now, and In Rainbows is the only record that clicked to me on first listen. I love every single one, but this is the one that I loved instantly.
You still have Disc 2 to go through if you'd like to extend this mood a bit more. It starts with a continuity from Videotape. I'd say it's a bit more focused on Tom's voice and what it can reach, and I don't mean just harmonicaly. Particularly Go Slowly is my Radioheads "eargasm" voice wise. Two songs in there helped me getting some tears out on tough moments. I think the thing I love the most on their music is that, throughout all their musical "journeys" you can find yourself re-living harsh feelings but... it's like you can now look at them with someone on your side who understands and help you putting it in words. Beauty is added to the saddest of feelings and you find peace on every tough journey life's put you through.
My first listen to Weird Fishes was very special, since I did basically what you said I just sat back and let the music ascend me to another plane of existence It was BEAUTIFUL
When it came out, it took me right away. I was going through a dark period in my life. It helped me heal after multiple listenings. Just a masterpiece. Thank you for this great reaction.
In Rainbows was an album that cliques immediately for me. Like every Radiohead album however, with every subsequent listen it just became more and more beautiful. Today it is my favorite album of theirs. When I was younger it was definitely the Kid A/Amnesiac albums.
I absolutely loved this 😁 I steered away from Radiohead for quite a few years… then returned when A Moon Shaped Pool came out. When I revisited ‘In Rainbows’ it got inside me right away. I can’t get enough of Radiohead… but ‘In Rainbows’ is like a comfort blanket now!
it hit me straight away - but I have been a radiohead fan since the bends

Made me cry while smiling when you listened to Weird Fishes, I wish i could discover this album for the first time again and again, fills me with joy to see someone discover this album
I've been into them since OK Computer and watching your reactions i could see you were doing your best to hold back the tears, I am a musician myself and if i could just write ONE song like this band with that effect then my real work is done , Feel proud to be a part of the Radiohead community ❤
This album grows and grows. You should see the basement session and see how the play it live . It’s mindblowing. Would love to see how you react to that ,and admire the musical brilliance of it. You will be stunned.
And go blind in it. really want to see that magic happening on that journey. You as a musician will be stunned. And actually the basement session is better than the studio album.
Btw there is not so much layering as you think. Ok I will stop now. I can go on and on. Best live band ever have had the privilege to see them 5 times live. And last summer I’ve seen the hobby band of Thom the smile. Greetings Ramses, And let me know if this album grows on you? Keep up the good work.
Thanks for your reaction, especially for appreciating Videotape so much. For me, Videotape is one of the most beautiful Radiohead songs, but people usually neglect it. And to answer your question - yes, In Rainbows hit me immediately when I first heard it, while OK Computer took me few years to fully appreciate and love.
Phil Selway is the bands safe space with Colin they create a scene for me reminiscent of a desert road and line of telegraph poles extending into the distant perspective, with the swirling birds sand storms and tumbleweeds of the others living around them.
The first reaction to this album that almost 100% matches my own. Just an incredibly visual sound journey. In Rainbows is the perfect title feels like you’re riding a ship across a spectrum of colors.
For the next album (which is my favorite), i suggest you to do the 'Live from the Basement' version. They play the whole album, but the songs are just better and the sound quality is even better (it's played in a studio).
i hope after ur wonderful radiohead journey ends you can react to the smile! (2022-now, another album soon i think!) has thom, jonny and tom skinner in it, (ITS AMAZING) and/or thoms side project atoms for peace album AMOK (2013, they only have 1) which is just one of my favorites from thom. radiohead is truly amazing and thoms other project sound very similar so if ur a fan i cant stress how important the other projects are ^_^ if ur ever wanting more!
I listened to this album fully for the first time yesterday while studying (only knew jigsaw, 15 step and weird fishes before) and reckoner made me so emotional, I was sitting there in the library and could have started crying. wanted to check out your reaction today and I reacted exactly the same to this song
Yes,Yes,Yes! Radiohead is Phenomenal in layering sounds, textures, emontions, weird out of time signatures and Thom’s mastery of floating his voice in and out and around and beyond and through all of Radiohead’s music so that it’s new and different version every time you listen! I must see them live!
The genius of Radiohead is they make every choice they make… an instrument, chord progression, mix… feel inevitable and obviously correct, as if no other option was available. They are the apex. I never feel as happy and as inadequate as when I listen to their music. The soundtrack to my life.
Great reaction to a brilliant album! As previous comments have stated...you MUST revisit some of these tracks "In The Basement"...you will be blown away at HOW brilliantly they can recreate these tracks live in one take, and you get to see them close-up performing, they are even better live in these sessions

Videotape gets me every time. I always think i can handle it, and it always crushes me.
Same..
"you are my center, as I spin away.."
Man..
I appreciate your kind words, was such a great album that took me on quite the ride. Thank you for checking out the vid and commenting
Almost all of Radiohead's albums take me several listens to really get into, but they're like gifts that keep giving - discovering new elements with each listen.
This is one of my all-time favourite albums, glad you enjoyed it. You should watch their performance of this album in its entirety: Live from the basement (2008)
Well said, brother. Seeing you light up is EVERYTHING.
Thanks Ryan!!
Bro I've seen your reaction to this album 3 times now. And I mirror myself in you, even if its years ago. Cheers, and thank you for sharing it.
Rock on!
Wierd fishes/ Arpeggi is one of the best songs ever made. Cannot get over that one.
This band is truly GOATED and this album is beyond tremendous 🤘🏽
Cant forget the drummer is fkn spot on- precise timing always. ....in addition to all the other comments saying this is an all time favorite album, and the talent of everyone involved.
I saw them live at Bonnaroo in 2006. They debuted most of the songs off of this album at that concert.
And it was released over a year later
So many emotional beats in this one, I agree Tracey, thanks for checking out the vid!
Oof I know what you mean with that feeling, perhaps a reason why it's my favorite album from them. Nostalgic warmth and comfort, mixed with melancholy.
@@AdamCKA the intro to House of Cards encapsulates IR for me.
merry christmas, came back to watch again. wish i could like again!
Happy holidays!
Video tape means so much to me. I cry every time.
Cheers!
Thank you for this. I love reliving Radiohead’s albums with someone who really appreciates and loves it like you do.
Man hit after hit after hit after hit after hit.... Thank you for sharing your listening experience!
Agreed. I love a lot of their other albums but I think In Rainbows feels less experimental and more assured than any other album. Almost a dance album in some respects. Like they set out to make their own twisted version of a pop album.
A Moon Shaped Pool is a must, you’re gonna love it
Your reaction is GOLD! This one means so much to me and to see someone hear it for the first time is amazing! ❤😊 thanks!
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed the vid!
I was one of the people who were really waiting for this reaction, and it was awesome to finally watch it; it felt very emotional. If there's one thing i can assure you is you're gonna love A moon shaped pool as well
Awww thank you for checking out the vid Mileny. Truly was such a beautiful album with some very special moments. So exited for a moon shaped pool
Channels like this give me hope
This album hit me on first listen. It's also still my favourite.
I remember waiting up till midnight to get the download code. Listened to it while laying on my bed, and to this day it is the most memorable first listen I’ve ever had. Cried most of the time!
Beginning of nude is in reverse from the last part of the song.
If you love Videotape as a closer you will LOVE true love waits.
I've been a RH fan for 7 years now, and In Rainbows is the only record that clicked to me on first listen. I love every single one, but this is the one that I loved instantly.
first album i heard from them, the guitar from 15 step had me hooked eversince
Such a tune!
Can't wait you to finally reach to the "A Moon Shaped Pool" album 🤩
Weird Fishes: the prettiest song ever written about suicide, though Florence Welch might have a few things to say about that.
My first listen to Weird Fishes was very special, since I did basically what you said
I just sat back and let the music ascend me to another plane of existence
It was BEAUTIFUL
When it came out, it took me right away. I was going through a dark period in my life. It helped me heal after multiple listenings. Just a masterpiece. Thank you for this great reaction.
Music is so powerful, glad you enjoyed the video!
In Rainbows - Live From The Basement is amazing
You’re welcome
Your reaction to weird dishes made me feel like I was listening to it for the first time! Loved you taking the time to soak it in afterwards
In Rainbows was an album that cliques immediately for me. Like every Radiohead album however, with every subsequent listen it just became more and more beautiful. Today it is my favorite album of theirs. When I was younger it was definitely the Kid A/Amnesiac albums.
i'm so glad you loved Videotape just as much as i do
I absolutely loved this 😁
I steered away from Radiohead for quite a few years… then returned when A Moon Shaped Pool came out.
Very good ear. You pick up on a lot of things on first listen. Good stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Would love to check out the basement sessions
And go blind in it.
really want to see that magic happening on that journey.
You as a musician will be stunned.
And actually the basement session is better than the studio album.
Btw there is not so much layering as you think.
Ok I will stop now.
I can go on and on.
Best live band ever have had the privilege to see them 5 times live.
And last summer I’ve seen the hobby band of Thom the smile.
Greetings Ramses,
And let me know if this album grows on you?
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for your reaction, especially for appreciating Videotape so much. For me, Videotape is one of the most beautiful Radiohead songs, but people usually neglect it. And to answer your question - yes, In Rainbows hit me immediately when I first heard it, while OK Computer took me few years to fully appreciate and love.
Thanks Davor!
Please do not skip King Of Limbs (ignore the haters) and Moon Shaped Pool. Both are real gems.
Won't be skipping it!
Can't believe on your first time hearing Nude you caught the intro is reversed, great ear!
Thanks! I hear the reverse sample technique happen in some hip hop tracks
Beautiful reaction man. Thank you 🤙🏻
Thank you Joe! appreciate it mate
Agree 100% so much better less robotic and the addition of the 2nd drummer is different from any other music I ever heard.
In Rainbows From the Basement videos! 100%, they're amazing live in studio... would love to see reactions to them from you. Do it!
in rainbows feels like a warm hug, and one of those perfect records to listen to beside the fireplace
Radiohead is the most beautiful thing i've seen in my life
i hope after ur wonderful radiohead journey ends you can react to the smile!
I would be very keen to check out some more once the Radiohead journey ends! So many incredible side projects I can't wait to sink my teeth into!
I listened to this album fully for the first time yesterday while studying (only knew jigsaw, 15 step and weird fishes before) and reckoner made me so emotional, I was sitting there in the library and could have started crying. wanted to check out your reaction today and I reacted exactly the same to this song
Such an amazing project man
Hits all the right notes for me !
The man's BACK!!
Lets goooooo!
Stumbled upon your Radiohead album reactions, this one is definitely my favorite. I can't wait for A Moon Shaped Pool.
Hope you have enjoyed the vids :)
I love how I vibe with you through the whole video. One of my favourite Radiohead albums
Love your honesty, I feel this is definitely a grower
Keen to see how this one sits over time!
I can listen to this album all day, just my favorite to listen to.
Great reaction to a brilliant album! As previous comments have stated...you MUST revisit some of these tracks "In The Basement"...you will be blown away at HOW brilliantly they can recreate these tracks live in one take, and you get to see them close-up performing, they are even better live in these sessions
Thank you for the kind words Brian, am keen to check out the basement sessions
