When you rub rubber on pencil mark, it removes some of the fabric layer of paper, where the graphites are sticked,
Once you rub, fabric layer tears and release graphite which then stick to the eraser, that's it.
There's no such secret love story between graphite and rubber.

No The Science Behind this is Contraction and Expansion, Understand that “Pressure is Directly Proportional to Temperature” When Temp rises Pressure rises if Temp Reduces Pressure also Reduces. Thats why sometime yu fill air in cold temp and when check after it may be Higher than what yu set before

Everything what u said about floating of ship was exact to point, but sinking of titanic had some other reasons,In new modern ships they have double hull construction with bulk heads forming a complete boundary between tanks.whereas titanic had single hull and bulkheads were not completely bounded.so as soon as water started to enter at one side of bulk head it easily started to occupu full volume of the ship in short interval of time which made it to sink very quickly.thank you
