No, not fresh out of school. We make sure the student know exactly what they need to say because we add more then what is on state test. Any school that teaches to the test is a failure. So we make all instructors and students use pre-trip sheet. We are a OTR school only and teach all real world driver situations they will run into on the road. Maybe you should come and go through our training course. You will learn and need to pass, “ Air Brake systems and the workings along with how to Cage a brake chamber, HOS, Trip planning, Logging, Load Securement, Adverse weather driving, Chain Installation, Defensive Driving, and much more. We have recruiter’s send applicants to us to be trained and the FMCSA accredited as a top training facility. Find out about a college before you speak out about it.

No, the student does not need to check whether the brakes are applied. Given that the truck is parked, the brakes are indeed applied, and this is not an automatic failure. This new modernized testing procedure begins with the student conducting an air brake check. This means that the wheels are chocked and the student will push in both the tractor and trailer brakes for the leak-down test, as the system needs to be charged. Please allow the professionals to conduct the training. I am concerned that your schooling may not have provided you with the correct instruction.
