50 years later the little Elsie is still kicking ass! Long live the 1974 Honda CR125 Elsinore. Nothing has ever impacted the Motocross scene as much as the Honda Elsinore. I love Daytona Beach and dirt bikes would be icing on the cake!

I remember taking my ported RM125 to a local track in So. Cal. in the 1980s. Guys were practicing holeshots and I lined up with an Elsinore 125 a few times. He just blew me away.

Mr Kaplan, I gotta tell you I had a tear in my eye after watching this. I grew up in this era of motocross and remember these bikes well. My hero was Roger De Coster. Glad to have found your channel. There’s always something exciting to watch. Hope to make it up to Kaplan Cycles someday.

Great comment, I’m 65 and I too grew up in that era, the late 60’s, the early to mid 70’s were my favorite yrs. I live in Southern California and riding and racing motocross through those yrs were a blast, me & all my friends always wanted to be Brad Lackey, growing up we all had posters of Brad Lackey on his CZ and Husky, Rodger DeCoster, Joel Robert on their Suzuki’s, Jim Pomeroy on his Bultaco, Bengt Aberg & Heikki Mikkola on Husky’s and Ake Jonson on that beast Maico, I remember watching all the greats race here in So. Cal. At Saddleback raceway and at the famed Carlsbad racetrack, fond great memories in deed, cheers 🍻 to ya! 😎🇺🇸✌️

A blast from the past. I raced a 1974 Yamaha 125 MX in 1975 and then upgraded to a 1975 YZ 125 monoshock for the 1976 season. In 1979 I raced a Yamaha 400 YZ. There is no better aroma than the exhaust of a 2 stroke engine burning Klotz oil.

I was the only dummy on a 125. Lol. I did manage to capture the overall championship in one of those classes. I had a great time and you made it better. @@johnberry2877 it's hard to have a trail bike if your feet don't touch the ground! It's ridiculous! to pack up a bike with a heavy load and call it an adventure bike? if you can't even hold that bike up! when you come to a stop and especially in dangerous rough Terrain . it makes me think back of all the many motorcycles I had growing up how my feet would touch the ground and how wonderful that is! You have control of your motorcycle with a big load on it or another person. but when your feet , you can't touch the ground! you lose stability!!it's ridiculous. And then you get hurt. yes I couldn't afford a bike when I was very young and had to go and work half the summer in order to buy my first bike which was a Bridgestone it was very old, I bought it from a dealer and of course I was an adventure living in rural Wisconsin. I had all those old abandoned Farms to explore. But the bike failed me after I laid it down coming into the driveway of the farm too fast because I drink too many beers :-) which was nothing new for me growing up! but I had a very important hot date at about 17 years old and I could not fulfill that date! my bike would not run anymore and she was a cute well-built polish girl

Love it! Nothing better than old school 2 strokes. Can’t stand today’s trend with 4 strokes. Why have a slower 4 stroke bike with twice the weight?! Who came up with the idea that a 2 stroke 125 is equivalent to a 250 4 stroke?! Make it a 125cc 2 stroke and a 125 4 stroke. Make it even and then see what happens. The 4 stroke is inferior! No questions asked. Bunch of fools

    What great bikes…I owned a couple of early 70’s Husky’s a CR250 and a CR400, they were awesome…when they ran 😂😂, I finally gave in a bought a new Kawasaki KX420 in 1981, why I thought I needed a 420 I don’t know because I wish I would have gotten the 250..

Reminds me of back in the 70's racing my '73 Husqvarna 250. This man is hauling on his Husky. Great riding.
The clutch dragged so bad on mine once you put it into gear, you could not get it back out of gear without killing the engine first.
You didn't have long once in gear before the dragging clutch heated up and you could no longer hold the bike back.
It really was awful when the starter gave the signal you were about to go, you put it into gear and then he changes his mind and expects you to wait.

Oh, the beginning reminds me. I fixed my modern bike and lowered it. I can touch the ground now too. Corners so much better. See you at the next corner. Yea, that is me on the inside. :)

That Kaw sounded so crisp. My first bike was a 74 Husqvarna 250. I thought it was fast until my neighbor brought over his XL or XR450.
