@@enough_of_propaganda I agree, so too with Iraq, they do have WMDs, hidden in the cave somewhere, we just haven't found them yet. Yes, because this is what happens when you put an idiot BBC ‘journalist’ up against a proper statesman who understands what he’s saying. This interview was most inconvenient.
the uninitiated won't get it obviously. Bruh, the Donbass war has been happening since 2014. you can find this even in the Wikipedia of all places. Take a look at it, it says 2014 to 2022. Rosenberg knows the conflict happened for years before 2022, but he's pretending that the war started 4 months ago, when Russia stepped in. Rosenberg is knowingly cancelling all the knowledge prior to the SMO and accusing that it's a fresh unrelated invasion from 2022. So Lavrov responds, why as a Russia expert you are cancelling all the events before 2022. After that point, they are discussing all the events in between 2014-2022 with Minsk agreements, which was Russia's diplomatic intervention unimplemented. Lavrov is not a fool, you're the one
because Rosenberg is a Zio#ist Glob#list propagandist. The ususl BBC tactic of using a foreign language speaker to try and make them look more intelligent. the BBC is a disgusting organsisation that covered up for Paedophiles for years (Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris and Stuart Hall) for over 30 years and was getting 50 million Euros per year to push the propaganda of the EU (Nazi Germany part 2), you think about that one for a minute....
That bit was surprising. As if BBC cant bring out the truth with all the means they have. Lavrov was correct west is trying to cancel everything before Feb 25th. Also, the logic of NATO and the US can do anything (Enabling the coup) resulting in the Nazi-infested govt that treats its own citizenry as second class (banning the Russian language & channels, etc.,) but that doesn't mean Russia can retaliate! So what should Russia do? appealing to the good senses of western countries? They've been doing that for 8 years with no results. The fact is Ukrainians were openly saying they will buy the time to strengthen the army but not implement the Minsk accord. Zelensky was openly humiliated by Azov nazi battalion for trying to implement the basics of the agreement.
I seem to remember from history lessons that in the 1960s the Soviets tried to base missiles in Cuba and the USA almost started WW3 over that, boot is on the other foot and the Americans dont like it.....

I know Russian people, their mentality and history, not theoretically, but living 23 years in this country. I would say that Russian history built on blood and people there never had any kind of democracy. To be ably to analyse things and have logical connections between reasons and outcome you need to be educated, encouraged to use critical thinking - this was never the case in Russia. I am saying of course about average population not about some small percentage of open minded intelligent people. As well Russians are patriotic and used to survive. They never live really well in masses, just survive. People in Ukraine a bit different, they always were more business oriented, hard working and prosperous. Ukrainians suffered a lot during Soviet time, many were sent to Siberia, millions died during famine 1932 1933 , artificially created by Soviet regime. In masses they did not support Soviet collectivisation and regime. Then they got a chance to be independent in 1991 and they used this chance. Ukrainian people wanted to be free democratic and European country. And this is the only reason why masses of population came out to protest in Maidan. They sacrificed personal safety for freedom. Some were killed - but still the masses, the population supported to be under European Union ambrella and not back in tight connection with Russia. Seen on the internet: The Russian foreign office has been top-notch since Tsarist times, and Mr Lavrov’s responses to the disgusting questions put to him by the BBC show him to be a man of integrity. Mr Lavrov is in a class of his own, head and shoulders above other diplomats. He is that rarity, an ambassador sent abroad to tell the truth for his country. His political acumen puts him in the ranks of Metternich and Molotov. If Henry Kissinger ever retires, he will write a book about Mr Lavrov. Next to the low-calibre diplomats of other countries, Mr Lavrov is all the more credible as a defender of human rights. The Russian language comes out beautified by his sonorous speech, unlike the chirping sounds of members of the Western political class. European politicians also look like pygmies next to Maria Zhakarova, who is easily over-qualified to be the next President of the European Union. Ms Zhakarova is an authentic Russian icon. She is the Madonna Nitta, with a more expensive hairdo. Everything she says reveals her cool-headed grasp of political realities; she manipulates the language of Pushkin with consummate ease. In her telling, the relationship between Mother Russia and Ukraine is like Evgeny Onegin, with guns. She never shies away from the cold hard facts of the case. Congrats on being gullible believing those bloggers & online influencers are "independent journalists"...not following someone's narrative and working on someone's interests (in this case its terrorus) Also...at least since 2022 full-scale war (likely even since 2014, but I only have definite info about last 2 years, but I do believe that even VICE need to have "contacts" and sort-of permits to go and film in certain places when it all started in 2014...as rus was occupying those territories) you actually need permission and approval of terrorus (appointed unicorn-land dnr leaders) to visit and do reports in the occupied territories of Ukraine. So no "western journalists" visiting and reporting from the occupied territories is doing it independently and freely, and without any permits. Civilized world recognizes those territories as Ukraine's under terrorus occupation. And foreign journalists are not simply let into the occupied territories...to see all for themselves as write whatever they think is true. What is shown to them, what they report is closely monitored and carefully guided to fit the rus narratives..propaganda. Its not reality foreign influencers like the ones from US who recently went to muscovy, are shown and told, its a potemkin village. Great examples of it is Mariupol...where these propagandists go to do reports of the few blocks of new re-built buildings while praising how all is so pretty and wonderful & rebuilt there now, while the reality of the city after rus destroyed it in 2022 can be seen in the very background of the videos they do from there...about 80% of whole city destroyed. Anyone with eyes can see the reality...that does not match the narrative they report. The same applies to almost everything "independent journos" report from these places. Those grifters you call "independent journos" are nothing more than gullible westerners used by terrorus to get their narrative out to the west. To sell it to people like you. Yes, I am familiar with those pro/rus influencers works. And I am familiar with those westerners and Ukrainians works, who have covered the conflict since 2014. Plus I know two Ukrainians personally who lived in those occupied territories before rus came (and had to escape and have been refugees for some time now) and through friends I know the stories of many others from "Donbass"...I have, actually, heard both sides of the stories. And I actually know some facts, not just what media (on either side( reports. And as someone who has a functioning brain, and knows the languages, and has done her research, plus has actual real (uninfluenced) personal contacts (knows stories of people from those places) I can tell you that while like most propaganda there are some truth is rus propaganda (true that opinion divided in the occupied territories...that is basically only thing true in rus propaganda...that some there preferred rus), almost everything you hear from those influencers is a lie and rus propaganda.

@@patrikrenmark2010 You are right in your correction, my comparison was not correct in this context, though I would still like to know where the numbers that the reporter was coming with were taken from. However, I am glad Lavrov did not fall for this like I did in my comment and maintained the focus on what's important. As for genocide, there are multiple statements of the Ukrainian officials, where the general sentiment is: Ukraine wants Donbass back, but without its population. Poroshenko said the other day that he is satisfied with the results of the Minsk agreement - it allowed Kiev to amass the military might over the period of 8 years. Rosenberg is a straightforward propagandist who is clearly desperate to control the narrative of the interview but Lavrov is too good for him. Notice how evasive and uncomfortable Rosenberg gets when Lavrov asks questions about the context that the BBC leave out of their reporting? He says: "I'm doing the interview" which is basically "I ask the questions here, you're supposed to give me the answers I want". But Lavrov is having none of it. When that fails, Rosenberg simply tries to change the subject or interrupt Lavrov. If Rosenberg was interviewing some NATO mouthpiece he'd be obsequious and deferential and ask pre-agreed questions allowing them to frame their propaganda narrative. Basic Facts: • 30% of Ukrainians are Russian speaking - basically "ethnic" Russians • At the end of WW2, the US and UK smuggled out 1000s of Ukrainian SS/Nazis to avoid the Nuremberg Trials • Since at least the 1950s, NATO has nurtured these ideological elements in Ukraine - political parties and militias • In 2014 there was a NATO/US backed coup in Kiev which instituted an Ultra Nationalist Regime whose muscle is openly Nazi • Following this there were massacres of Russian speaking Ukrainians in Odessa, Mariupol and elsewhere • The Donbass Regions of Lugansk and Donetsk voted for independence in referendums • The response of Kiev was to roll in the Army and Airforce and begin bombing those regions • A similar referendum in Crimea was reinforced by Russian troops already stationed there • For 8 years, a conflict has raged with 2/3rds of Donbass occupied by Ukrainian military dominated by Nazi brigades • A demarcation line called the "Greyzone" has been fought over with 1000s of civilian deaths including children • During this time, the Kremlin advocated the Minsk Accords via diplomacy to try and avoid a war • These agreements kept the Donbass in Ukraine's territory but Kiev and NATO would not abide by them • In early February 2022, the Zelensky Regime planned a fresh offensive to invade the seceded Crimea and the rest of the Donbass • Russia decided it was time to act so that they could control the battlefield rather than wait until they were at a disadvantage People in the West should firstly remember how Governments and Military/Intel have lied to them about every conflict and then also ask themselves how long the US would tolerate an anti-American, Russian-backed Neo-Nazi Regime in Mexico that was bombing Mexican-Americans in the border regions, persecuted Anglo-culture and people, had established 46 Russian BioWeapons Labs, was seeking to become part of the Russian Federation and establish military bases and was enriching weapons grade plutonium, all while banning political opposition, torturing and murdering its own citizens and asset stripping the country on behalf of Moscow Oligarchs. My guess is, it wouldn't have been for 8 weeks, let alone 8 years. Ukraine is being used as a Proxy battleground by NATO/US/UK to attempt to destroy Russia. The Russians have tried to avoid a conflict for years, but as Lavrov says, they have been left with no choice. This is NATOs war, not Putin's and it has been waged for decades.

Same old nonsense from the BBC, at least Steve Rosenberg is reasonably polite, unlike the now utterly detestable Stephen Sachur, a man that until a few years ago, I always followed;. Lavrov clearly asks 3 times from 10.35 on... about the overthrow of Yanukovyck on 21 February 2014 if this was a coup, Rosenberg falls back on his old tactic when repeatedly stumped for for a response, I am the one doing the interview here, is Russia squeaky clean (white and fluffy)? the same words he used when asking a question of Putin a few years ago at one of the marathon Q&A sessions. Putin was too polite to take it further and apologised to Rosenberg for daring to ask a question of such an important journalist. Lavrov does not put up with such nonsense, but always remains firm and polite.
Интересное интервью. Великолепные аргументы опытного журналиста дополняются такими же контраргументами от опытного дипломата. Смотреть такие интервью одно удовольствие.
lol, this bbc 'journalist' is a lightweight compared to Lavrov. most of them are. you can tell the journalist thinks he's cool because he speaks Russian with a British accent. Lavrov speaks English proficiently too, so I don't understand why they're conversing in Russian.
You're right, Lavrov speaks English really, really well. However, he speaks English with a Russian accent, but that doesn't make his English any worse. To be snide and nasty about someone because they speak a foreign language with an accent is simply childish and stupid. And anyway, how do you know what Rosenberg's accent is? Do you speak Russian? Your perception of Rosenberg as felling "cool" is simply a reflection of your own mindset.
Got to be one of the worst incoherent interviews I've ever seen. Similar to another British so-called correspondent interviewing Putin last year. There's nothing constructive...it's just a hit piece. Both were incoherent, Rosenberg went full Western and refused to incorporate basic facts into his questioning, cherry picked history, and simply sounded like a pre--recorded tape taking nothing in. Lavrov missed a lot of opportunities to make better points, but well and truly won the second half after Rosenberg was tired and rephrasing old questions. There's no mistaking Ukrainian genocidal intent towards Russians in Donbass, the Russian history of Donbass (which must be respected if Ukraine was to maintain order), and the proven threat of Nato...Lavrov could have hammered this home better.
Lavrov is trained professional propagandist and a bully. He is using manipulative tactics from the USSR. But in the end - it is all just a manipulation. And you fell for it.
Think about this from the Russian perspective ( I hated and still hate the evil Soviet regime to this day, as I am old enough to remember the Cold War). How would you feel if outside your house, groups of armed men were gathering, and every day, they were playing war games with real guns that fire real bullets. Would you wait for a bullet to come through your window, or would you go outside and punch that person in the face and take (his/her/their gun off of him, must use correct pronouns or be accused of being some kind of 'phobic')? Think about that.....
I would use my 6x larger military budget to hire a larger group of armed men to stand outside my house. You don't see China invading russia pre-emptively. You portray Russia like a weak victim here. I understand what fear does to civilians; it is a classic soviet tactic to build support. But it isn't true. The economies of the world would prefer to avoid conflict and war, its bad for labor and global supply. Only countries that want power make war. Russia was also the one constantly violating other country's airspace with fighters and making nuclear threats.
Typical Russian troll. This is an excuse of a rapist: "it is all her fault. She walked by me". But if to follow you advice that it is OK with you if the world or Ukraine would bomb Russia because 1) 180 000 Russian troops were hanging around on the Ukrainian border for months. or 2) is it OK to the West to nuke Russia because Putin - the president on nuclear country personally on TV threatened the world with nuclear strike? According to you that will be justified. Thank you for the permission.
If Lavrov sounds like he knows what he is talking about it because he is trained professional propagandist. He is using manipulative tactics from the USSR.
@@enough_of_propaganda Oh stop it. He's a politician, he does exactly what all politicians do only in this interview he mostly has the facts on his side. He doesn't have any special "manipulative tactics" that other politicians haven't, he's just better at it than ours.

I noted that mr Lavrov did not answer the question about if he took part in the decision to invade Ukraine ("start the special military operation"). His evasive answer was that the decision underwent the same process as other decisions of this dignity. He is of course well aware of the fact that those responsible for this decision might have to pay a price for it one day.
If the Donbass were part of Ukraine why would the regime in Kiev have spent the last 8 years shelling the civilian infrastructure of that part of the country causing the death of 14 000 citizens? It was that incessant shelling that led to the formation of the so-called Donetsk and Lugansk Republics and their people's militias. When Kiev failed to honour the Minsk Agreements the help of Russia was requested by the leaders of these republics to stop the ongoing slaughter. But the real question is not whether Lavrov was consulted (since there was unilateral support for intervention within the Russian cabinet) but why Kiev was attacking the easternmost part of its country. The answer to that question lies in Rosenberg's stunned silence when Lavrov asked, "What happened on 21st February 2014 in Ukraine?" Rosenberg was taken by surprise and would not answer because he knew the truth about the US-backed coup d'etat.

In its 3rd monitoring report, the ECRML recommended that Ukraine should also take measures to facilitate the creation of at least one weekly or daily newspaper in certain languages which at present did not have one, including Byelorussian, (§32) and it is highly unlikely that the requirement that such a Byelorussian newspaper would have to publish

In their most recent recommendations in response to the 3rd monitoring report, the Committee of Ministers directed Ukraine to “extend and strengthen the offer of radio and television broadcasts in the Part III languages”.

No one needs a permit to report from Donbas but a set of cojones. There are independent British and American journos in Donbas reporting for years.
They normally end up on Zelenskis Kill list
Congrats on being gullible believing those bloggers & online influencers are "independent journalists"...not following someone's narrative and working on someone's interests (in this case its terrorus)
Also...at least since 2022 full-scale war (likely even since 2014, but I only have definite info about last 2 years, but I do believe that even VICE need to have "contacts" and sort-of permits to go and film in certain places when it all started in 2014...as rus was occupying those territories) you actually need permission and approval of terrorus (appointed unicorn-land dnr leaders) to visit and do reports in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
I doubt very much that anywhere in today's Nazi Russia there is a monument to the British sailors who carried convoys to the port of Murmansk risking their lives to help the USSR

Where did the journalist get his numbers of the perished civilians for the previous years from? The "Alley of Angels" in Donetsk commemorates hundreds of killed children alone.
So? It was errected way before 2021.
@@Nemo1k Well, you asked about the figures from last year but you refered to a monument that was errected six years prior. Obviously that monument has nothing to do with the figures from 2021.
Not gonna comment about Scholz and what russian official claimes is a genocide. That's not serious.
@@patrikrenmark2010 You are right in your correction, my comparison was not correct in this context, though I would still like to know where the numbers that the reporter was coming with were taken from. The reports from the ground in the past years did not indicate that Ukraine was easing up on shelling of the people of Donbass, though the intensity was not as high as in the first years.
In Nikolaev - a predominantly Russian-speaking city - it will be forbidden to teach students Russian from the 1st of September. All this is a definitive ethnocide, and given opportunity is was going to turn into a large-scale genocide.
We'll know more once the dust settles down, and more documents and evidence become public through trials.
@@Nemo1k Nope, that does not make sense and it does not add up with facts on the ground.
It doesn't matter because we will not agree on this, but the whole notion about genocide is just ridiculous. We will not discuss this further as i see no use since you have your opinion set already. I simply will not dignify fascist propaganda through discussion.

Basic Facts:
• 30% of Ukrainians are Russian speaking - basically "ethnic" Russians
• At the end of WW2, the US and UK smuggled out 1000s of Ukrainian SS/Nazis to avoid the Nuremberg Trials
• Since at least the 1950s, NATO has nurtured these ideological elements in Ukraine - political parties and militias
• In 2014 there was a NATO/US backed coup in Kiev which instituted an Ultra Nationalist Regime whose muscle is openly Nazi
• Following this there were massacres of Russian speaking Ukrainians in Odessa, Mariupol and elsewhere
• The Donbass Regions of Lugansk and Donetsk voted for independence in referendums
• The response of Kiev was to roll in the Army and Airforce and begin bombing those regions
• A similar referendum in Crimea was reinforced by Russian troops already stationed there
• For 8 years, a conflict has raged with 2/3rds of Donbass occupied by Ukrainian military dominated by Nazi brigades
• A demarcation line called the "Greyzone" has been fought over with 1000s of civilian deaths including children
• During this time, the Kremlin advocated the Minsk Accords via diplomacy to try and avoid a war
• These agreements kept the Donbass in Ukraine's territory but Kiev and NATO would not abide by them
• In early February 2022, the Zelensky Regime planned a fresh offensive to invade the seceded Crimea and the rest of the Donbass
• Russia decided it was time to act so that they could control the battlefield rather than wait until they were at a disadvantage
People in the West should firstly remember how Governments and Military/Intel have lied to them about every conflict and then also ask themselves how long the US would tolerate an anti-American, Russian-backed Neo-Nazi Regime in Mexico that was bombing Mexican-Americans in the border regions, persecuted Anglo-culture and people, had established 46 Russian BioWeapons Labs, was seeking to become part of the Russian Federation and establish military bases and was enriching weapons grade plutonium, all while banning political opposition, torturing and murdering its own citizens and asset stripping the country on behalf of Moscow Oligarchs.

Lavrov is brilliant as always. One of the greatest world diplomat ever.
Say hi to your boss, Prigozhin!

@@veritasvincit71 This is a lie and Putin's propaganda. In EIGHT years of the war in Ukraine started by Putin’s Russia: 14 000 people have died from BOTH sides and according to UN report page 3.: Total conflict-related civilian casualties in 2014-2021

Now when Putin's Russia came "to liberate" Ukraine in almost 4 MONTH only Russian troops lost more that 30 000 people (dead). Many Ukrainians were killed and about 5 000 000 of them had to leave their country.
21 February 2014 the Agreement on settlement of political crisis in Ukraine has been signed by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and the leaders of the parliamentary opposition. After that President Yanukovych run away (escaped) from Ukraine to Russia. He (most likely) was afraid that he will be charged for corruption and for giving the order to the police (Berkut) to shoot the protesters in Kyiv. After that Ukraine continued living and elected a new government and a new President. The was no coup. Period. The Ukrainian parliament voted to remove Yanukovych from his post and schedule new elections on the grounds that he "has restrained himself from performing his constitutional duties".
