Yes. Terrific episode. Amazing sailing footage. One of the best channels. When I attended a couple of TH-cam sailing channel meet ups I was surprised how many people who came haven't sailed. My boat is in Oxnard, CA. If you're nearby, a Florence fan, and want to go sailing, give me a shout. Any excuse to go sailing is a good one.
I think the most obvious sign of the incredible and dramatic improvement in your productions over the last 7 years ( OMG is it really that long ) is the head to camera presentations… now you are relaxed, humorous and informative .. back in the beginning it was very awkward .. once again thanks so much !
I Love this video, the Cool Misty morning, the highland dancers, the pipe band and the beautiful festival bringing the locals together to celebrate. Thank you Matt and Amy ❤
Island sailing…sheesh, wind changes, rain, currents, tides and not to mention how the land and rocks can appear…You two have our hearts. We sailed a little around Hawaii, same stuff, only warm…May God be with you. Thanks for sharing…from East Tennessee.
It’s great that you show all the progress of sail changes it’s educational for people who don’t sail as often as they would like to great video guys you two are still the best ❤
Fantastic episode. The first half was a Masterclass training video on Sailing, Navigation and Weather. All the sails look great too. 2nd half was a bonus travel guide to the NE Scotland coast. Well done.
Brought back many memories from my liveaboard days. Snuffing the chute in a sock... night watches... the delight of hot soup under way. "Florence" looks beautiful everywhere. Wonderful scenery.
I love these videos & incredibly they just keep getting better & better. The subject matter's great, Amy I could stare at all day long, even when tired she's still a delight, but it's the technical nous that's also remarkable. Using the shipping forecasts as audio, keeping the audio at normal speed when they video's at double, using slow-mo, rack focusing....it's just all so well done & easily as watchable as anything on mainstream TV!
I am loving your channel! Florence looks great after the refit and I for one am glad your plans changed and you are now sailing around Great Britain. I was stationed in England '85-'88 with the US Air Force and Great Britain holds a special place in my heart.
GRAND! Well done guys. we are now armchair sailors! we are at or mooring in Knysna RSA, after 3 years working on our 32ft double ender Aries (Thomas Gilmer) we HOPE to set sail soon. we have rented out our house and are committed. iI is channels like yours that inspire us. Sampson Boat Co with Leo is the inspiration to do thins properly, and you and maybe Sailing Sweet Ruca and Uma and so on , inspire us. BUT right now we are warm and cosy with the Dickinson Diesel heater in the cape winter. we ALMOSt went to Cape Town, but didn't as they had 90knot winds yes, 90 KNOTS , check it out. we are in a bubble on the south coat, the weather pretty much misses us. keep it up.
I'm so glad for this circumnavigation. Interesting landfall every 100 miles. If someone recently sold your old Canon SLR, you might be a junior celebrity helping Sailing Florence.
It's not as fashionable these days, but there's a very cheap amateur radio the size of a deck of playing cards called the "true-sdx". Digitalization has been a game changer for amateur radio, and you can reliably send messages (or download gribs) on 5watts. They're around $100. Alternatively a rtl-sdr (software defined receiver) plugs directly into the computer to receive weather fax info or navtex, and it can double as a backup AIS receiver.
Your channel is phenomenal because I truly believe you are the most capable cruising couple out there (yes, even better than them). Your videography is also top notch and you are both very genuine, likable people.
You have my sympathy - this year the weather has been foul (until now) - I think you had plainer sailing across the South Atlantic. !!! and with no thermal wind- sheaters !!!! However, things are changing now (mid July) but I suppose it will be the end of August before we see how you've been enjoying this period. Bon voyage.
So much to be wowed about in this episode. The videography and editing were brilliant as we are now accustomed to. You spoil us and we're grateful. Florence surfing in spinnaker regalia was breathtaking. Fairwinds friends!
This is worth a try for your camera. Remove the battery. Turn power button on. Hold down shutter button for at least 30 seconds. Shut off power button. Replace battery and try!!
Relying on forecasts in the age of geoengineering seems to become a real challenge for navigators. Sorry to say that but the skies look pretty engineered in the video. How fantastic to see how you guys make smart decisions weighing in all options. Safe journey ahead.
That's Amazing 265miles in 22 hours! How much current did you have with you? That was some tough sailing! Love your aerial views and history/ explanations of the towns! Thank You!🎉
Wow. I have been following you both for quite a few years now and love all the videos but i think this is going to be a real treat sailing off the coast of scotland. Born in south wales and raised in London i miss England i now live in california after living in NYC for over 25 years. Its something as i am getting older you never get out of your system .I still say back home when i tell people i am going back to visit. One of my best mates is from Trune in scotland. Have so much fun and look forward to seeing all these next videos. Cheers from the Brit in california. xx
Aye. The sound of the pipes, fog and high cliffs. And at the very last - puffins. Brilliant. Once spent an August on a camping holiday in Scotland and would have been dryer on your yacht.
you two rock Thanks once again Loving this series as my background is Scottish and have visited quite a few times from Aus My Family Hearitage goes back to Isle Eeig were my Grandmother was from and my Dad & Sister spent alot of their youth . Thanks Amy an Matt
Great video your entering my home waters, i hoped you enjoyed your trip north and look forward to seeing your forthcoming videos. Just a little aside your pronounciation of ‘roost’ was pretty good !
You’re sail handling is sooo good. It might be helpful for casual viewers to put a ticker on the bottom showing what you’re doing step by step with the spinnaker, putting a slab in the main (etc.)
Thanks for another great video. Brings back great memories. Having sailed round the world and the uk in some ways I think sailing round the uk is more challenging with the weather and tides. In some respects sailing oceans is about picking the right season. Have fun. Malcom who was the harbour master will give you all information you need for crossing the Pentland Firth.
I am genuinely amazed by your adventurous spirit and determination in sailing to Scotland. Your journey around Britain on Sailing Florence is both inspiring and captivating. Your stories and experiences on the open sea are truly remarkable. And I am Floating Village Life.
What a GREAT episode! Thank you again. Now in Pender Harbour and preparing to cross the Strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island. Forecast: 2 kt and calm seas. Time to go.
At last I've caught up with you. It's only been 9 mths since I started watching your channel. I know you're going to the Outer Hebrides but make time for the mainland coast too. But beware you will want to stay longer, much, much longer.
Good to see you sailing again. So much to see in the world and so little time. Higher latitudes are different. I have a hard time understanding how people and live in the heat of the tropics. I live in the Central Oregon Cascades. This morning woke to 42 degree F. :)
Want to commend you that now that you are back sailing your cinetrophy and content are superb. I would rank yours among the Top of all the other Sailors that I watch. You had the best shots of the dolphins swimming with you as you crossed the Atlantic to complete you 7 years. Thanks for your great work and for taking us on this journey exploring the British/Scottish/Irish lands of your heritage.
such beautiful scenery weather is a gamble up those northern part of Scotland that is for sure, best of luck heading north. looking forward to next video
@12:58, you should have asked Amy "where is your plate of Toast?"......kidding! Love your Channel and Episodes! Stay Safe!.....(seems like a moot point) as you've already circumnavigated this 3rd Rock! thanks you 2 for sharing!
Have really enjoyed your channel over the last few years. Hopefully you will visit us over here on the north coast of Northern Ireland. In Scotland and Northern Ireland we sometimes refer to overfalls as a tidal race. Have a look on a chart covering the east coast of Rathlin Island and you will see an area of overfalls called the Macdonnell Race. There is a legend associated with the name which you can google in your own time.
It is so good to be with as you sail north east side of England. Each port of call is amazing. I look forward to seeing your film of Scotland. You 2 are an amazing couple. Best wishes on your current travel.
Hi Amy and Matt! Another great video! I especially like the videography of all coastline. The music was outstanding as well! Please consider getting Star Link for your weather updates, internet connectivity, etc. All the best!!
If you check ahead with a post office, most do Poste Restante. You can have things sent to the post office and pick them up, all for free. Only some do it but I have used Poste Restante for over 17 years both here and abroad and as long as you check ahead that an office does it, it works fabulous.
My grandfather was a Sinclair and he immigrated to South Africa because he met my beautiful South African grandmother but I'm sure the weather didn't hurt!
I am just amazed looking at Florence after her refit! She looks like a new boat! I am so impressed wiyh what you've done for her! You didn't seem to miss going forward to reef the staysail! But admittedly those were the most exciting parts of your passages as we never knew if you'd get bounced off the boat or not! Your coast line is quite rugged but beautiful. Your drone shots are really the icing on the cake as far as viewing impact goes! What does the geographic term "head" actually refer to? is it just a point of land that juts out into the water?
One thing to know regarding cameras...Nikon camera lenses are completely transferrable I have 2 Nikon cameras. One is a film camera and the other is DSLR. The lenses fit no matter what.
how about sailing through the caribbean again, through the canal, then west up to san francisco and onto the pacific north west and maybe alaska. then on to hawaii (i live in the puna district and it is truly the most beautiful place i have ever lived) and then the cook islands? just a thought and a dream but at 76 can't wait forever, lol.
Stunning photography and soooo different from the normal youtubers. Thanks
100% real talent.
Thick haar, gales forces winds, hot tomato soup for dinner and putting up the canopy so you don't get wet. Welcome to Scotland in the summer!
Don’t forget the multiple layers of clothing!
Summer? What’s this summer thing you talk about, Scotland has 9 months of winter and 3 months of bad weather
Or a red bowl with some water in it.
Don't scare them. Everybody knows the weather man gets it right 24-7.
Allow me to join the chorus of praise. With your sailing skills and photography skills your channel is the best!
Yes. Terrific episode. Amazing sailing footage. One of the best channels.

Agree, and I like the annotations.
I Love this video, the Cool Misty morning, the highland dancers, the pipe band and the beautiful festival bringing the locals together to celebrate.
Thank you Matt and Amy ❤
Finally a sailing couple that loves sailing! Not holed up somewhere installing gadgets! Bravo
And they are like a well oiled machine after all the miles together!
To be fair, most boats do need a lot of tinkering....
@georgebrown6013 It's been like this for seven years!
I loved seeing your around the world sailing over the last many years but seeing a Brit couple showing the UK to this American is fabulous!
Ahh bagpipes, stirs my heart
Your channel deserves to have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Amazing footage and narration. Thank you guys.
Island sailing…sheesh, wind changes, rain, currents, tides and not to mention how the land and rocks can appear…You two have our hearts. We sailed a little around Hawaii, same stuff, only warm…May God be with you. Thanks for sharing…from East Tennessee.

Couldn’t agree more. The tranquillity of Scotland has space to come through in this great production.
Yay another upload🙌 Really look forward to them!

AWESOME. WOW . This Planet is So Beautiful. Thank You for going there and Sharing it all with us!
Awesome video and what luck to arrive during a festival. I see Florence is tied up next to Alan, Alex Hibbert’s vessel. Double the luck!
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. Welcome to my country. 🙂
every two weeks im absolutely buzzing for these videos
Thank you, for taking me along. ❤
Great drone work, good music and a nice cliff hanger to finish.
Loved this video, both the sailing which looks like an awful lot of work and the somewhat more leisurely exploration of the land.
The best sailing channel on TH-cam. Thanks for bringing us along.
Stunning cinematography, well done guys. Enjoy the trip.
TY once again i totally enjoyed the tour of the country Scotland... AND again you 2 are an awesome team.... Thanks.. Brian
the steaming bowl of soup heated on the new stove and served in the cockpit is inviting
I am loving your channel! Florence looks great after the refit and I for one am glad your plans changed and you are now sailing around Great Britain. I was stationed in England '85-'88 with the US Air Force and Great Britain holds a special place in my heart.
Great channel with good production/content ❤❤❤
You'll love the West Coast

Amazing episode like always! Fair winds
Doesn’t get any better than that! Long leg run with a bit a joy to anchor at there. Cheers 🥂
Your channel is phenomenal because I truly believe you are the most capable cruising couple out there (yes, even better than them). Your videography is also top notch and you are both very genuine, likable people.
Beautiful vlog, guys! I love seeing Britain from your perspective. I went there on my honeymoon. 😊

Now furiously googling the town of John O’ Groats… as always, stay safe out there!
Nice to see the RNLI. Here in South Africa we have the NSRI.
Super episode..spectacular scenery..thank You !
@17:23 Hang on, did you park next to "Alan" and Alex Hibbert??? AND next to a Norskie? How cool :)
Great video your entering my home waters, i hoped you enjoyed your trip north and look forward to seeing your forthcoming videos. Just a little aside your pronounciation of ‘roost’ was pretty good !
Great story, fotage and sailing! Thank you!
The refresh you did on Florence is amazing. Looks like totally new boat!

It was a wonderful trip I enjoyed it so much Big thanks
Watched this just a day after visiting John o’ Groats.
Nice scenery. Too cold for this little black duck! Hi from Australia where it’s a balmy 27c. In winter.
Love seeing all these places!

Another great video. As an online traveler, I look forward to the next one. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing the adventure.
Awesome Video! You two are easily the best sailors on TH-cam. Question: why not shade the spinaker with the headsail when taking it down?
amazing sail!
Amazing photography! Beautiful views!

You can't beat the Highland Pipe Bands to march behind.
Scottish waters where i nearly broached a 60'Clipper with 16 crew in 35knots of wind.learning curve for sure😊
Always love your music choices.

My great great grandpa Gordon was an orphan boy in Scotland. After looking at that weather, I understand why he immigrated to the United States. LoL
My grandfather was a Sinclair and he immigrated to South Africa because he met my beautiful South African grandmother but I'm sure the weather didn't hurt!
so love this channel. One of the best. Cheers to you both.
