    Fellow Chorusholic here. ✋🏽Thanks for introducing the world to my favorite chorus of all time. Digging your channel thanks for the work;

      Oh man, you're in good company here! Thanks for the compliment, I hope you like all of my other chorus and chorus-adjacent content. I don't know if I could possibly pick a favorite, but I definitely started using the FX-67 more after this video.

    That was EXACTLY what I was looking for, a STEREO demo. But you did not stop there, you explained everything anyone would ever want to know and demonstrated THAT, too. I mean, I just bought one, so thank you for helping me make my arduous decision easier. I love the new school but this does what I want and matches my vintage DOD’s. You’re awesome 😎

    There's at least 3 times you make me cackle in each of your vids; LOVE IT
    I seriously consider this channel the gold standard in pacing, information, musical content and yuks; bravo!

    Interesting you brought up Maxon (Ibanez) because they also did a ton of choruses that did the dual oscillator thing, but they're all based on the original Maxon/Ibanez BC9 Bi Mode Chorus. The problem is that like all the other Ibanez/Maxon choruses, the stereo effect was still out of phase. It wasn't true stereo like the DOD, it was still 2 oscillators stacked on top of each other.
    I really really wish Ibanez had the sense to do 2 separate oscillators like DOD did. I personally think the CS circuit sounds miles better than DOD's chorus effect, even in this video I preferred the Maxon over the DOD lol. A true stereo CS9 would be my dream chorus pedal

    Bought mine new in the 90s. I have yet to hear another chorus pedal with that lush, ambient tone.

      I just love the way they built up the interference between the two BBDs to create that thick effect. It really was more than just taking shortcuts, it's unique in a way that most people will never appreciate.

    Checked this pedal on reverb to see how much it was worth. Bought mine for $30 on ebay a couple years ago and there were no listings on reverb i was shocked to see the value increase and everyone selling theirs for so much money!

    Does any of this apply to the FX65? Or is that a totally different animal?

    • @StompboxBreakdown
      @StompboxBreakdown  ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks like it’s doing *something* other than just inverting the mono output, but it’s got just one BBD/oscillator, so it’s not doing the same thing.

    I wonder why chorus pedals dont just output the dry signal on one jack and the delayed signal on another, for stereo?

    • @StompboxBreakdown
      @StompboxBreakdown  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A lot do, it's usually either the inverse method or A:Dry B:Vibrato. It works, and sounds nice in a real physical space where sound can take a complex path to your ears, but summed to mono it can make it sound a little lopsided.

    Don't most stereo chorus pedals work as a vibrato if u plug an unused jack into the 2nd output? I know my boss one does
    Would be nice if u could mod this to also be a twin vibrato.. not sure it's possible

    I have 2 questions: is the Maxon clipping on its own or was it the recording? is the DOD analog or digital?

    • @StompboxBreakdown
      @StompboxBreakdown  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm using an amp sim that has a liiiiittle bit of gain, so the clipping is from the recording. I've never really noticed the clipping when using the CS-505 on an entirely clean amp. It's not digital, it's using bucket brigade delay lines and oscillators. Some argue bucket brigade is not truly "analog" because it's breaking the signal down into samples, and that bucket brigade is more "solid state" than analog, but it's NOT digitizing and doing it in software, which is probably the root of the question.

    This is actually the most subtle of all the Bi-Chorus pedals I have, that or mine is defective. Maybe someone else can confirm this. It's almost to a fault because it is the least interesting of my Bi-Chorus pedals. The Peavey DSC-4 or Ibanez/Maxon BC-9/BC-01 are subjectively superior to me. I can see why this was a fad though. You really only need a chorus pedal with a custom LFO wave or a normal LFO for that matter. Most guitarist or listeners are not going to care about two chips/LFO circuits because they won't even run or record them in stereo. The LFO for these pedals in mono take on unconventional wave form properties at that point.

      Good question. I can’t find anything but maybe I’m not looking in the right places. The Suhr Alexa does something interesting, but its not exactly this.
