Nikola Tesla's Radio Controlled Boat | Brilliancy at its peak

  • In the 19th century, Nikola Tesla demonstrated wireless control technology for devices for the first time. He controlled a toy boat using only radio waves, with no stringing wires at all! An advanced version of this technology is something we all use in our daily lives. Tesla was able to control the on-off condition of the propeller and angle of the rudder, thus gaining complete steering control of his boat. How was a pulse of electromagnetic waves able to cause mechanical movement? Welcome to a design journey in which we will understand Nikola Tesla’s genius thinking process in a simple way.

    • @HFilip11
      @HFilip11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      I wouldn't say it was lack of money. If you read about his life it was obvious that he just wasn't the best presenter. He actually oftentimes had enough interested investors, but he was rarely able to persuade them well enough - with, well - a business plan. It was the marketing skills and showmanship that propelled Edison and others forward.

    • @serpentine1983
      @serpentine1983 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Not really. There is always someone with money... I'd say it's lack of intelligence and vision from the part of the investors.
      Also as the previous comment is right too.
      I should also add, that probably the military would have been very interested i something like that. But I have never read about what Tesla thought about that world. So maybe that is why it didn't prosper in that direction. BTW, we should note that Tesla had this idea of the ray that could destroy an airplane fleet, for example, from a distances and tried to sell it to the militaries of the world as a perfect deterrence to avoid feature wars (every country with the same defense and it wouldn't be be wise to attack each other). A perfect power distribution.

His funding was cut off before he could finish his experiments. And what do you think his "free energy" was meant to be? Energy from nothing? No, it was intended to use the electromagnetic energy that exists around us at all times from the sun, earth, and universe. Calling it "free energy" is like calling solar "free energy". They became widely available in the 20s and 30s, but it was not until after WW II that they became well understood enough that people could have an idea for a device, and know what they should try to achieve that using semiconductors.

Most batteries run under 12v so to use AC would be more advanced but the primitive DC is perfectly safe and effective. Converting to AC would require a lot of extra components and energy losses.

      Would be nice if the boat still existed. But most of his stuff was destroyed. The elite went ready for him

    Ah dang the thing I was most interested in was the signal being sent back and fourth itself and how it worked, but I feel like the video didnt describe it very much. Perhaps I was supposed to already know?

      You need basic RF knowledge to fully understand this videos. But they didnt explain the motor either so yeah. Its the base stuff.
      From my monkey brain :
      Basically, any oscillating current (AC) on a wire will escape into the air.
      You can also absorb this oscillating current with a receiving antenna. With that current he triggered a electric relay. It's really simple.

    It might not be commercial, but people DEFINITELY took notice, and interest, of radio remote control before the 40s. Even in the video you show it, "It's like magic".
