Gliding Australia - When you know not to fly

  • There is a video that precedes this one, hopefully it gets approved to be shared. That aside, today I was fighting my brain all morning and then drove more than an hour to a gliding club & couldn't even get out of my car. I've learnt to trust my instinct, should've paid more attention to it today.

"No go" is "no go". There's no shame in that game.

Thank you for saying that, sorry for the late reply, there's no shame for sure, there is grief at the loss of a loved one. Not explained as I should have done in this video. Grief kind of overides sometimes. Cheers, Leo "Brushy"

Smart move: remember the IMSAFE mnemonic. I've done the same: got to the airfield and decided "No, I'm not fit to fly".

Bloody Oath, one of the people in the Gliding Comp I was flying in the day before (as a passenger olny) Decided He wasn't fit to fly, that was also a good choice. He flew the next day & finished Second outright & I believe won it overall. (same day I made this video) Cheers.

I always feel my most capable when I'm smart enough to cancel my flight AFTER driving to the airport. Well done.

    40°c translates to 104°f.
I'd be sick at that temp.
90°f (32.2°c) is our average summer daytime high here in Baltimore and I don't do good with that.

Yeah it was warm, but it gets a lot hotter than that ha ha. I've seen 48 C here & More a thousand or so miles north of here.

If your heads not in it, then it's not safe to fly. Good decision.

Sometimes you need to just fly anyway and reinvigorate that inspirational part? it's when you've got that 6th sense that something isn't right, that's when you know not to unpack.....just keep on driving?
I hope you're feeling more up for on another day 👍 keep your spirits high brother

Thank you, & yes, when you know, you know. Disregarding those feelings can & has been a fatal decision for people I knew. This is a conversation that should be talked about more openly. I flew in a gliding Competition the day before this video was released (I wasn't at the controls)
I'm somewhat shocked that this video has gained so much attention. While it was a bad day for me personally, maybe I've brought a greater awareness to ones own perspective, totally by accident. Huh, Fricken adhd eh? You'll never know where it leads you. Cheers.

@@brushitoff503 dude i thought I was reading one of my own messages for a second. Very much on the same wave length. Not even a flier myself, but I've got an interest in "flight" so to speak and I've looked into various kinds of things like paramotor (yeah i definitely won't be doing any of that - I've seen enough wing collapses from cross winds to know not to look much further?)
The TH-cam algorithm just does these random things every now and again? Like recommending 13 year old videos in my feed or seemingly random channels with short duration clips that may have an obscure title on topics adjacent to topics I've looked up?
Perhaps it's realised that we are both ADHD and it feels that we might have engaging conversations? 🤔

@@brushitoff503 how's this for strange? Now days when someone says they are ADHD or ND....i all of a sudden perk up a bit? Someone who isn't off with the fairies.....or if they are it's for a good reason and what ever they are distracted by is probably something I'd also get distracted by? Hahaha

@@jameshatton4211 Roger that! Same Boat, different Bucket! Paragliding is a big nope for me, personal opinion only, no disrespect to those that do that. Always happy to talk. Yeah it throws me a few curve balls as well, I'm just surprised that this video has got people's attention, maybe that's a good thing. I don't make these to make money, I run a business to help people so it's kind of weird for me to see so many comments. I'd prefer people watch the Gliding Comp video I just released. (Filmed the day before this) but released the day after. While I don't say or share enough, it was an epic day & momentous for me. Cheers again. Brushy.

@@jameshatton4211 HA ha Yep! Probably. That may be a thing here, there is video's. Not many & not yet going down that path, most people are not receptive to that stuff. This video very much encapsulates my head space on this day, Although for reasons untold. Family first. Nuff said. Cheers. Brushy. How To ADHD is a good channel to watch.

True that, had the same thought driving out besides knowing I shouldn't be up there. Still I seen one of them up at what had to be close to 10,000 feet, the lift was there for sure. Just wasn't my day to be in it.
