Holden VL Brake Master Cylinder is Rebuilt.
มุมมอง 11421 วันที่ผ่านมา
All it takes is time & patience. I have more of an understanding of how this works now. If I'd paid someone else to do it, I wouldn't have learnt anything.
Holden VL Master Cylinder Disassembly

It took a while, but I figured out how to pull the Master completely apart! Now it's time to clean it all, replace the seals & reverse the process.
Brake-ing news!

A more detailed view, because it's all about the details right?

You are paying attention to human factors. Good on you. I have ignored my spidey senses, flown an aircraft and paid the price with dodgey aviation more than once. If you are not feeling it on the ground, it does not get better up there. 40 degrees? I only fly powered recreational aircraft, and that alone would keep me on the ground. Also, if you are focussed on the stuff you are going through stay on the ground. Good choice, and thanks for sharing it. Hope your next flight goes well. 👍
Exactly. I hope you learnt from your expirences & don't make those choices again. Higher temps mean bigger thermals which is better for Gliding. Once your above 6,000 feet or more it cools down a lot. Thank you for the honest comment.
Good work mate and it's a project you love I can see 💯 🚘
Looking good, well done
Ha, it says "olden" on your steerin wheel. Happy stoppin in the new year to you! (We know go is more fun.) 👍🤠 🇺🇸
Ha ha yes, poor old steering wheel.. Need to find one the right colour & in better nick one day. Have a good one!
🎉
You did do a thing! Perseverance paid off, well done
Even more so Today, well yesterday now ha ha.
Great work , you wanna try and find stuff for the hornet mate haha and good work knowing where your 10 mm socket is 😂
Ha ha cheers mate & yeah I bet you're up against it with the Hornet ha ha
I fail to see or understand what in a master cylinder could generate enough heat to discolor the ends of the spring like that, I belive the discolorations and roughness occurred during the grinding of the spring during manufacture. I myself would turn my back on that, remember the bad seals were your dilemma. The nick in the line looks mild enough for me and I'd attempt vice grips on reattaching the line but it appears you prolly don't have the space for those. It's not my car or my life so do go with a new flare and nut, I see you have enough line to spare, I may insult when I say "beware of kinking the line when you do that". I sincerly hope the vice's story doesn't involve you droppin it on your foot. As mentioned in every episode of television's Mission Impossible~ "Good luck Jim"
Ha ha ha! That's an awesome comment! While I don't know what caused the discolouration, I'm damn sure that wear on the spring isn't factory, that's a worn part right there for sure. I'm not a mechanic, but I know things. Vice Grips are a no - no 100% Soft metal & them don't equate to a happy ending ha ha. I'll figure it out, I always do. No different to electronics, it all does stuff, just need to know how it works. Cheers
Extra reply for free, I don't know it's the seals, thats just my guess from looking at it, again, I'm not a mechanic, just a bloke that does stuff & happens to share it ha ha.
I've always gotten pre rebuilt ones from the parts store though that seems simple enough. The spring is supposed to be flat on both ends. Check those threads where the "stubborn" line was, you know I mentioned you were turning it the wrong way. Picture yourself as being under the master cylinder when you were unscrewing the line, you'd turn the line nut counterclockwise. Funny you post this video as I was watchin the other and now you reply to my comment there.
Good, I just read the other comment, ya didn't strip threads, that's good.
@@JohnShinn6078 Ha ha love it! Good timing I guess. I did look up replacement units, every man & his dog want's stupid prices seeing as these are no longer made, even our performace stores could only offer "Generic" units, Meaning cheap copies so I found a local small business that could sell me the seal kit. The rest I'll work out as I go, if I fail then so be it. the kit only cost $85 Au Bucks & my time is free. No harm in learning how it works either way ha ha. Cheers!
Not sure how you watch the video's but on my PC I can clearly see the ends of the spring is worn, yes I get they need to be flat, same as valve springs etc. wasn't what I was talking about ha ha
@brushitoff503 Cheesy smartphone here.
@@JohnShinn6078 ha ha ok
2:38 No Mate! Your tightening that! Oh my, I need a beer that I don't have, oh my. 🍺😢 Did you strip the threads or figure it out? I can't picture the manufacturer having a reason for doing left hand threads.
Ba ha ha Classic! I was waiting for someone to notice! Yes I was, Now why would I do that? Answer is, after I heated the Master up it still wouldn't budge, so I turned it the other way less than a 1/4 turn & it worked! I was then able to remove it without further damage to the nut. Unless I have a second pair of hands to record things, filming everything is difficult by myself. Cheers!

Proper Stealth Mode ha ha. Idle decent for sure!

You're welcome bud
What , no GPS ? Nice to see so much sunshine . Been feckin' miserable here for almost 2 weeks
What's a gps ha ha! It's inbuilt already! Bit chilly here today with a top of 26 C average, Gotta love Kanuck life Aye? I won't raise you our 45 plus C we get for your weather any time
Watching these aircraft still holds a bit of magic that something that wieghs more than air can go up up and away . My favorites are piston powered props . Jets are actually quite boring for me . Thanks for the video Frank .
Yeah me too but most of them here are so common they don't hold much intrest for me unless I'm in one ha ha. G'Day mate!
Something I never elvaluated in this video. Ground elevation was 175 feet, it only took 43 seconds from leaving the ground to gain 1,675 feet. That's a decent climb ratio for a big two up glider on a relativley short strip.
At 1:24 to 1,:27 You are going the wrong way . Must be drunk on wrong side. . 😅 F. N
Bahaha
Great stuff! You go the places I go! You never know what's over the crest or around the corner. Good save!
Ha ha Cheers & Damn straight! Where does that road go? Let's find out ha ha!
@@brushitoff503 I plan my trips because I'm out late sometimes after midnight and don't feel like getting lost. I'm also on a mission.
@@Thylaman I just go, the direction doesn't matter nor the destination unless it's for work purposes of course.
Love these roads.
Me too ha ha. Cheers
@brushitoff503 The Gap Road north of Palmer is a gem. I think most people drive around it.
@@Thylaman Yeah it's not a bad drive, but any drive out of town is always fun ha ha. Cheers.
@brushitoff503 agree!
Black yellow tailed cockatoo. We have them here too
Yeah ok cool, I thought it had white on it's head & Tail, was hard to get a good look at them ha ha
Sad . The death of one of Aussies icon vehicle manufacters . Now what are the buildings used for ?
G'day mate! Yes it was a day of mixed emotions for sure. It's a Business Park these days for all sorts of companies.
My dad bought one of the last VF Commodores that came from that plant, and he just sold it this past February, and only put 900 km on it in 6.5 years. His model was a Series II SSV Redline Sedan in Heroin White.
@bradroesler7072 Mate I love that comment, thank you. This place holds a special place in my heart. It was very sad to see what was going to happen so many years in advance. I still wish it wasn't true. Even 20 years later. Thank you & cheers for sharing that.
