    Unfortunately man, there is some pretty harcore concrete evidence that these bodies weren't donated, they were Chinese prisoners who were executed and sold for the exhibit. If you look on their home page, they basically admit this in an disclaimer without fully admitting it. Super sad..

    • @_dmfd
      @_dmfd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@SheilaPairADice yea, unfortunately alot has come to light since it's original showings. When they started touring Europe, alot of the Countries they went thru had a big morality issue with the show, and probed pretty deeply into how they're obtaining their cadavers and organs. Alot of what was found is currently redacted, but the findings were pointing to foul play against Chinese Prisoners. When the show went thru New York, Andrew Cuomo also probed into the matter and came to the conclusion that it's more than likely foul play. So now, on Real Bodies official website, the front page has a disclaimer stating roughly that they have no clue how the cadavers are obtained, other than what their Chinese Partners tell them, and that they may infact be dead prisoners. That's really fucked in my opinion.

    This is sooooo awesome! My dad is a child/adolescent psychiatrist, but museums of anatomy and medical science always fascinated him. So, I have plenty of memories of going to body museums/exhibits, just like this one when I was super little (probably why I turned out so weird, lol jk).
    I also heard you mention the Museum of Science and Industry, which is super funny too because my dad grew up in Chicago so we usually go back and visit my grandparents around three times a year (not recently because of COVID) but my dad and I’s favorite exhibit was the Prenatal Development exhibit with all of the embryos and fetuses.

    Some of the bodies are donated at request by the person who passed or the family of the one who passed can also donate the body. The thing I like about the Bodies exhibit is whoever is on display gave permission to be on display. They only use bodies of ppl that have specifically donated their body to be a part in the exhibit. There is also some bodies that have back stories (the health of the ppl when they were alive like what kind of health issues they may have had & on the opposite side of that they have ppl that may have had cancer or some kind of illness).
    Ppl chose to be on display in these exhibits. It is to help ppl understand & learn about the human body & what it is capable of.

It's too much for them....me as a healthcare employee, was a lot for me. I believe only 18yrs and older people should go through this exhibit....anyone less than 18yrs old is too much for them or they are VERY innapropriate to go through it. I saw kids making fun of the bodies as well.....this exhibit should ONLY be for "Mature" audiences ONLY.

    My late father gave up smoking after seeing some blackened lungs in a jar at the V.A. Hospital here in Fresno.

    I saw that exhibit when it was in Florida. Did you ever think to visit one of those body farms? Or is that off the scope for The Carpetbagger?

    I knew that he'd get all prudish about the fetuses, they are fetuses not babies, I was able to hold a preserved 5 month old fetus that was donated to a medical school in the 50's. Among other smaller stage fetuses that had been donated due to birth defects that lead to death. We only fear the things that we don't understand. When we don't talk about and educate ourselves on the things that make us uncomfortable, and when we do have related experiences they can become more traumatic and painful. Miscarriages and loss of a fetus needs to be talked about more and we need to educate people on it, as it is a natural part of life and doesn't need to be locked behind a door and not talked about due to discomfort of said subject.

      I know many women who have had miscarriages and even stillbirths. Some of them in my own family, even. You’re right; it’s a very common occurrence, and there shouldn’t be a stigma around it.

      I'm pregnant, but I really wanted to see that part of the exhibit! I'm also a nurse so I'm naturally drawn to "disturbing" things. I'm sad he didn't show it.

    In the US, unclaimed bodies are cremated as it's cheaper for the government, then they are buried. I dont know why they can't just donate them for medical educational purposes though like other countries.

      Because, unless they specifically say they want their bodies donated to science (screw that), they have no right to do so. I want my body returned to the earth, not experimented on.

      @@englishatheart I’ll donate any organs someone else can use. I’m religious, but that includes helping the sick and needy.

    I have walked past that exhibit many times when walking from the Bally's monorail stop to Paris. I always said I don't think I would go in there because it would creep me out. Well, I watched your video and shouldn't have! I can't get some of the images out of my head. I love your videos. This is one place I won't be visiting though. lol. BTW I live in NC also. ..

    I read somewhere that many of the bodies used in plastination exhibits came from political prisoners in China. Nothing would surprise me. All that aside a very interesting exhibition.
