Agreed. Main reason behind it was because it was tonally chasing multiple directions and aiming for unrealistic and unfathomable ambitions. That’s why it falls short of being a good film. The first half is great somewhat until that cook appears and ruins the whole film. It just doesn’t know what it wants to be, whether a Scorpio-like cautionary tale in the ugly side of the world, or a screwball comedy, or a pulpy adventure. It’s all over the place. Shambles.
