Welcome to our Great Tour around Gibraltar!
We start our tour at the city of ¨La Línea de la Concepción ¨ (south of Cádiz province, Andalucía, España) and in minutes we crossed the border on foot. We begin our tour in the curious territory of Gibraltar (UK) from its airport to the top of The Rock where we will see the famous monkeys, a cave of millions of years where Neanderthals lived, the famous tunnels of the World War II, wonderful views of the Strait of Gibraltar and Africa, as well as an old Moorish castle. Gibraltar is an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom. This means it shares the British Queen and has the protection of the British Armed Forces. It is in southwest Europe on the Mediterranean Sea. About 32,000 people live there. They are called Gibraltarians.
Gibraltar has always been important as a military base because this is where the Mediterranean Sea narrows to only 14 kilometres (9 miles) at the Strait of Gibraltar. This meant that whichever country controlled Gibraltar could see all ships that came into the Mediterranean Sea.
Gibraltar is most famous for The Rock of Gibraltar, a 426 meter high limestone rock rising out of the sea. The rock can be seen for many miles. It is home to the Barbary Apes, a type of tail-less macaque which are the only wild monkeys in Europe.

You take Gibraltar as you find it. To me it as always a fabulous place to visit when I was working at sea, in the RN and later in the RFA

@@4KMINOS I watched with great pleasure! I was amused when I saw that monkey in that young woman's head. 😊I noticed that in the cave you didn't catch the video projection on stalactites, which starts every half hour. She is very beautiful and interesting, I saw her in another clip.

I’ve always wanted to do something like this. Bloody interesting. Gibraltar has changed so much since I first visited there in 1969
Ditto - I was there on Hermes and Minerva. I can't recall if Penelope went there - possibly not, as we did a lot of noise trials in Lock Fyne. Very different now, the town has grown up, but the top half is pretty much the same -rather more overgrown, and the roads have been widened! The cable-car wasn't there, nor as the skywalk. The fort and tunnels weren't open. To think I walked all the way up, and came down again via the stairs, which we got glimpses of on the way back down. I must have been fit (or daft!)

El mejor y más extenso y detallado tour sobre Gibraltar que he visto, de momento. Estuve hace tres semanas y me he dado cuenta que me dejé muchos lugares increíbles x visitar como el cementerio de Trafalgar y los jardines de la Alameda 😥. He de volver y recorrer The Rock a pié, en vez de en taxi 😅. Un saludo dsd Barcelona

Recomendamos mucho la subida en el teleférico, está un poco caro para nuestro gusto, pero es rapidísimo y puedes optar por incluir todas las atracciones. Las vistas, la cueva, los túneles....todo impactante. Y la bajada la hicimos a pie para poder disfrutar de todo el entorno. Un saludo y que tengas un lindo día!

Just watched this on my TV. Very interesting and realise how much we missed when we stopped off on a cruise back in 2005. I daresay the cable car up the Rock is a new addition along with all the viewing areas as I don't recall them being there on our visit. We were taken up by one of the cabs driven by a very excitable Spanish speaking driver. I had forgotten about the caves. When we were there the traffic vehicle and tourist wise seemed busier. Maybe most were off our ship at the time. We were driven to the top. walked around for 10 mins or so and then whisked back down. We did walk along the main road and visited the cemetery. Had a drink in the main square and made our way back to the ship. If I was 20 years younger I would consider returning. Thanks for the great tour

I lived there for 2.5 years. It was a hole, a very constipated one at that.
