Anyone from middle school when this song came out? This hits as one of the most nostalgic songs for me, always envisioned myself dancing with my crush to this song lol
I always think of this song when I see the words "dark blue". Every. Single. Time. On a serious note though, I've always loved the lyric "the world could be burning till there's nothing but dark blue." It hits me so hard still. I've loved this song since childhood. Always have, always will.
I was sixteen when this song came on Fuze the first time. That was almost half my life ago. Getting older isn't so bad, but the memories hurt sometimes.
Dude... Power Fuse, Dedicate Live, Steven's Untitled Rock Show, No. 1 Countdown.. that was the last iteration of music television and I'm glad I was there
As I watch this, I can't help but think it represents relationships. Everyone starts off together, very attached, full of energy, and they make it look easy. As time goes on, people drop out, either together or one just can't keep going, despite their partner holding on. Some couples drop out faster, easier than others, but in the end the couples either keep staying together, out of shear faith, while others despite not being perfect dancers, the perfect pair, actually choose to take the plunge.

Jessica Duffield yesss. my stepmom put me on this band cause she used to play their cds in her car all the time and i find myself coming back to this song once in a while and it brings me such a nostalgic feeling
This song is most definitely about a love that can never be broken. Lies, fear, sorrow, and pain have no effect. Sometimes, love is so strong that not even Superman is strong enough to break it. If I were to dedicate this song to anyone, it would be you two. Stay strong, Riahh.

my dad and I saw jacks mannequin back when i was in high school ('06-'10). he texted me today 6/28/2022 and said he heard dark blue on the radio and it brought back so many memories! had to come here and listen to it again ❤
To me, this video represents how a lot of relationships start off as: fun and exciting, but after being with that person a while, you realize that he/she is not the one. Only a few relationships are meant to last, while a lot of them break down. The hard part is whether the couple has enough strength to fight through those problems and if they do, then they'll go off in their own world together, while leaving their past hardships and pain behind.
Just saw him live tonight in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he opened up for Panic! At the disco. He was so amazing! Makes me so nostalgic and he sung it great! What an evening 😍
I took the words more literally. The song is making a beautiful sense of a disaster where the whole world is ending. Dark blue is representing the water that has ingulfed the whole city and death is inevitable but the narrator is looking at the wonderful memories that he made with his significant other and rather than panic he looks at the brighter side of things. Nobody would ever think the water above them that there drowning in is a "perfect shade of dark blue" unless you change perspectives

I have you breathing down my neck
Breathing down my neck
I don't, don't know
What you could possibly expect
Under this condition-so
I'll wait, I'll wait
For the ambulance to come
Ambulance to come
Pick us up off the floor
What did you possibly expect
Under this condition, so
Slow down
This night's a perfect shade of
Dark blue, dark blue
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room?
When I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning, burning down
Dark blue, dark blue
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room?
Well I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning
'Til there's nothing but
Dark blue, dark blue
This flood
This flood is slowly rising up
Swallowing the ground
Beneath my feet
Tell me how anybody thinks
Under this condition
So I'll swim I'll swim
As the water rises up
Sun is sinking down
And now all I can see
Are the planets in a row
Suggesting it's best that I
Slow down
This night's a perfect shade of
Dark blue, dark blue
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room?
When I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning, burning down
Dark blue, dark blue
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room?
Well I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning
Dark blue
We were boxing
We were boxing the stars
We were boxing
You were swinging for mars
And then the water reached the west coast
And took the power lines, the power lines
And it was me and you
And the whole town under water
There was nothing we could do
It was dark blue
Dark blue, dark blue
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room?
When I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning, burning down
Dark blue
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room?
Well I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning
Now there's nothing but
Dark blue
If you've ever been alone
You'll know
Dark Blue
If you"ve ever been alone
You'll know
You'll know
