I took the words more literally. The song is making a beautiful sense of a disaster where the whole world is ending. Dark blue is representing the water that has ingulfed the whole city and death is inevitable but the narrator is looking at the wonderful memories that he made with his significant other and rather than panic he looks at the brighter side of things.
