    It's so cool seeing the contrast between the first fellow and the second. One who kind of had a great idea and likes coasting, wanted to give up and eat ice cream vs. the guy who sleeps with the phone under his pillow, still answering emails with spelling errors to this day, two very different approaches

    There is something I don't quite understand, how can you just put up a web page on the internet, then traffic coming by itself, which turn out into orders. I feel there is some details skipped by Stanley.

    • @kevintan2307
      @kevintan2307 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the 'trigger' was a phone number, no ordering features. Stanley probably didn't expect someone to ring but one did who ordered Thai food which he then had to fulfil.

    • @mr.camroe
      @mr.camroe 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah, I agree. It must have been either picked up by a local listing site like Craigslist or they ran some Ads with AdWords. I doubt that was from organic search.

    I'm confused. The Twitch guy did not really talk about his own experiences with press, and how it helped grow his business; did Twitch heavily leverage press exposure in the early days? And if so, how?

    analysis paralysis is a common issue many founder struggles with before launching there start-up. I watched a video previously of a guy explaining the early mistakes of a young Mark Zuckerberg, concluding to him not knowing how to properly set up a LLC. You don't need to have to all together, you really don't even need to have a keen understanding of the product you seek to seek to consumers. You simply need to get going.

    How does doing things that don't scale help a startup other than the fact that very few people are interested in doing it thereby eliminating competition? If that's the only reason then why not just say "do things nobody wants to do". That would capture the idea much better.
