You see in the song Freddie breaks down half way through, Montserrat notices and moves across to him to hold his hand. They had a very special relationship and she was one of the very few people he told he had AIDS and she understood the significance of the lyrics of the song.
Freddie's collaboration with this Diva was an ultimate ambition of his. It was/is wonderfully received by his fans and many in the Opera community of 'contemporary-music appreciators' as well.
These are the two best in their genres - she is the best opera soprano - and he just the best - in the world -. Freddie adored her and approached her - and she was amazed by his skills and his personality. She persuaded him to do a whole album - -and they got very good friends - they loved each other dearly.
You should listen to Freddie's Exercises in Free love....its tones only no words. The B side to The Great Pretender. This is what he took to show Montserrat on their first meeting to break the ice. Beautiful.
Italian is the primary language for opera, as such most of Caballe's performances are in this language. There are many wonderful performances on TH-cam but one of my favourites is 'Casta Diva' by Bellini.
Montserrat, as a super-star International dramatic soprano from the 1960s into the 1980s, would be much more used to singing in Italian, French and German (which she spoke well) than English.
This is my VERY first time reacting to her so if you can let me know ALL SORTS of songs she's done with links as mentioned in the video, that would be amazing! :) Esta es la primera vez que reacciono a ella, así que si puedes contarme TODO TIPO de canciones que ha hecho con enlaces como se menciona en el video, ¡sería increíble! :)
On the Barcelona album, there is ONE duet performed in Spanish: “ENSUENO” It’s one of my favorites… It’s also unique in-that: 1) It’s the finished version of the demo: “Exercises In Free Love” (The demo is just Fred singing Montserrat’s SOPRANO part.) 2) This is the only song where Montserrat (nickname Montsey) “talked Freddie into” singing in an operatic style and she said she “gave him some pointers” on how to do that. Do Barcelona, composed by Freddie and Mike Moran. Freddie sings in English, Montsy sings in Spanish at one point both Freddie and Montsy sing a phrase in Spanish. The song was used during the Opening ceremony of the 1992 Barcelona summer olympics.
Love, your videos. Montserrat Caballe, in my options is the greatest of all Opera singers. Her Tosca & Turandot are magnificent as are all her opera performances. So check out her CD's you want be disappointed 😊🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Thanks for this.. it is my favorite by Freddie & Montsy.. I hope you listen to more of their collabs.. what an incredible pairing... they had such mutual respect and love.. (Freddie admired her for years, and wrote for her.. and she was flattered by his attention.. and also said that he taught her how to "have fun" singing instead of concentrating on perfection).. and it comes through in all of their songs together... appreciate your reaction and look forward to more...
I know you said your primary interest in this post is Montserrat Caballé (nickname Montsey)… but just FYI regarding Freddie’s singing voice: You’re right about his “signature style”, which he mostly adhered to because it’s what his fans were familiar with… but it’s also been said that he could “sing 20 different songs and sound like 20 different people”, which is accurate. If you’re ever curious, these lesser-known songs (referred to as “Deep Cuts”) are examples of that: “I’m Going Back” “Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon” “You Take My Breath Away” studio version “Love Of My Life” studio version “Cool Cat” “Soul Brother” “Don’t Try So Hard” “I’m Going Slightly Mad” “Ensueno” The live “Impromptu” at 1986 Wembley Stadium
As pee the background It has been recorded during the olimpics games in Barcelona 1992. They have also sung "Barcelona". Montserrat was a genious, one of the best spanish opera singers and provbably one of the most beloved. Grap some clothes and move to Spain, It seems that you soul are waiting for It and we are waiting for you.
@@sharonallforloveandpositiv5497The 1992 year that you see ….is in reference to up coming Olympics in Barcelona 1992. Freddie co-wrote the song Barcelona …..he and Montserrat performed and recorded it in 1988. They were going to perform it at the 1992 Olympics together….but Freddie sadly passed away in 1991. I believe that the song “Barcelona” was played during the Olympics at some point.
"Hijo de la Luna"is a pop spanish master piece singing alone by Montserrat. About Opera she was maybe the best soprano along XX century. I recommends you; "O mio Babbino Caro" and "Spossa son Disprezatta" by Montsy. You can find all kind of Opera masterpieces by Montsy in TH-cam.
Montserrat Caballé was one of the greatest opera divas of the last century. Recommandation: listen to D'amor sull'ali rosee, that was Freddie's favourite aria. Freddie Mercury's real carreer started with the band Queen in the early 70s. Recommandation: listen to one of his solo works, Time Waits For No One. Freddie wrote (with his friend Mike Moran) a whole duet album with operatic songs for Montserrat and himself. Recommendation: Barcelona, The Golden Boy from the same event La Nit 88.
