I am impressed with the engineering design and have two questions:
1. Is there a diverter available compatible with a 4" down pipe?
2. If the diverter is connected to a flex hose entering near the top of an (example) 55 gallon barrel, when the barrel becomes full will the water naturally stop flowing down the flex pipe and just continue down the gutter pipe or does the diverter have to be manually turned off to stop the flow to the flex pipe when the barrel becomes full?

Well, in NZ this is about 1/2 the cost of the Marley Twist, which looks very much inferior. Typical of Marley.
