the main problem with those survival cards seems to be either the lack of proper weight or the saw failing to properly build a handle in the first place...

I don't think the wallet axe stuck in the tree or the target was one thing that is oftentimes not thought of is that in order for a axe to stick into a item it also needs to be well balanced to work properly @Wranglerstar

iunno where this channel came from and know absolutely jack about survival, but the absolute sarcastic delivery at 4:01 of "Are you guys as optimistic as I am?" and just glancing back down killed me. subbed.
E: due to said lack of experience in outdoor work in general, i think as for the ending it'd be super interesting to do those kinda niche but always interesting videos of trying to get "the most" you can out of those crappy and cheap survival kits on amazon that i've seen floating around!

Cody, there is 1 small tool I take into the wild eveytime that is an absolute life saver and that is a Leatherman tool with a saw. I have used this extensively and while it doesnt fit in your wallet it is very small and has multiple life saving tools in 1 package. Of course I also have my GB small forest axe with me as well and that combination makes survival much more manageable. Love the video brother! God bless you and your family! Keep up the great work!

Hey, thanks for this video. I thought this one was perhaps a little more useful than the klax as the zip ties seemed more secure than the twist lock mechanism on the klax. But, apparently not by much. And, I didn't even think about the lack of weight in it being a pretty big usability issue for a hatchet. Even one of the heavier "micro axes" seen like a much better packable option than any of these novelties. Thanks again.

From what little skill I possess in woodcraft, I would say the only "all-in-one" survival tool is proper knowledge; knowing what to bring for the specific situation, and arriving fully prepared.

I'm thinking a pet bushcraft beaver. It would cut would faster, good source of heat, can be thrown to distract/scare/feed as needed, can be converted into an emergency meal and a nice cap. Downside is, it will not fit in your wallet.

I got one of these as a gift from a well meaning friend. filed set into the saw and hardened the cutting edge. Also put an edge on the broad head. It’s still not a go to tool but for something to always have in your wallet it’s not bad for 20 bucks.

Consider, if that was your only tool in a survival situation, (i.e. no knife or saw), you could use the axe blade to split the end of the stick just deep enough to contain the head. Then use your paracord, because we all carry that stuff, to bind it tightly to the stick.

I absolutely love the idea of this. The execution obviously needs some work, but the potential is very exciting. There are many places where you can't or wouldn't carry an axe with you. Planes come to mind, though I'm not sure if they'd allow this. In any case, this can go places a real axe can't. It's literally so small and simple that you could keep it on your person permanently and be at least somewhat prepared in a situation where you have nothing but the clothes on your back.
If I ever have the tools and know-how I'd like to make a more functional version, with less gimmicks. Ditch the tomahawk point and make the back a solid piece and you should be able to stick a finger through and get a better grip, not to mention you'd be able to secure it with almost any wire, string, vine, what-have-you. Put some real saw teeth on there and it would be a small, pitiful saw, but it would work. Maybe make it thicker so you can split small branches.

  • @esquad5406

  • @oevr37

You are surprisingly optimistic in this video. I really wonder if anyone ever found themself in a situation of being lost in the forest without real tools and actually had to use a wallet gadget like this as their only option. It would undoubtedly be better than absolutely no tools at all.. but just a victorinox and a regular lighter would be miles better and make for a very viable EDC option without taking up precious wallet space.
If you absolutely have to have some sort of wallet survival kit, I think putting a razor blade and some fishing line + hook into a flat pack of matches would serve you way better in a real situation.
