First of all, congrats for getting 10K subscribers! So very happy for you. Now the video. The video was amazing in so many ways. I was educated on how palm kernel oil is made. All I do is consume it😊. Glad to be walked through the process from start to finish. Very eye opening. The women are incredibly hard working and you are a hard worker yourself, as you joined in the activity. The sense of community, as they chatted through the process was refreshing and heart warming. Ala did a great job with camera angles and positions. Great job editing too, as it all came together well. Just an amazing and inspirational video!

It's great and refreshing to see age old processes of extraction of this oil documented for posterity. Not young Ghanaians are into this and I believe when the old women doing it are gone all this knowledge is lost. Thanks for the good work executed in an informal manner👏👏👏

Please, our mothers could also be introduced the other method of making kernel oil by simply milling the nuts after just breaking them, mixing the milled powdered kernel with water and putting the mixture into the fridge to allow the oil to be frozen on the surface of the mixture while in the fridge, to be collected and heated briefly to get rid of the little water which might be collected with the oil.
This method is simpler, cost effective with less labour, and it produces clearer oil which has better smell for cooking.
This their long boiling method to produce this dark coloured oil is also good because it produces oil with medicinal value for poisoning and even for healing the naval of a new born baby.
They could employ both methods to make their work easier.🙏 This is also help you could give them...our mothers could also learn new ways of doing things.

Watching from Jamaica. These ladies are phenomenal. I admire their ingenuity . I assume they have perfected this craft over hundreds of years. Is palm oil a cottage industry only in Ghana or is it also mass produced in factories? I have never come across palm oil. 🇯🇲

Unfortunately, just cottage industry, even tho we use it on a wide scale,,,there havent been any machines developed yet, after hundreds of years, we use the same back breaking method to extract all the phenomenal products that come out of this magnificent tree. The list of products go on and on abd in. U will be shocked. After everything we consume from this tree is extracted, The final waste is used for fire too! Amazing! The tree trunk itself produces amazing wine-like alcoholic sweet drink too. Hopefully, one day, she'll get to that.

    • @rainbow3649

The palm trees that grow in the Caribbean is different from this palm tree in Africa or West Africa specifically....that's why people from the Caribbean dint know palm oil. The best cooking oil to consume. Even Dr. Oz on American tv, who is a heart surgeon, did a whole show about it. He said, he takes one full spoon every morning for his heart health! The end product of the red palm oil, has the most beautiful and delicious taste and smell. All kinds of spices in there. Let me stop now, my mouth is watering! I hope u get to see and taste it some day.
