What I love about this one is that at 0:13, it is actually quite upbeat. For the average trainer, lacking the player's guidance towards the destiny of championship, simply reaching a gym leader is must be a huge deal. Win or lose, it is an honor to simply stand before them.

I'm sorry that you had to go through what you did. I definitely agree this is the best gym leader theme, Emerald was my first pokemon game, it will always have a special place in my heart. My next favourites are the ones that followed (sinnoh and unova and they are also my next favourite games).

We started our Pokémon journey with me having Red version and him Blue version. I stopped playing after this Gen so I missed out on Platinum/Pearl, came back to Black/White. Stopped again for a looonnnnng time. Finally came back with Violet/Scarlett. My love for Pokémon truly came back, it never faded away I’d say. My brother with Scarlett and I, Violet. I’m loving it and having a blast with it. As of right now all I need is the Fairy Team Star badge and I’ll head my way to the Pokémon League. I’m 35 years old and I can tell you if I’d never played Pokémon I would have no idea what my life would be. Pokémon WILL ALWAYS be in our hearts buddy. Forever.❤🥹🤙🏻

I haven’t been able to find any flaws with this theme. It’s really a three part story:the start of the battle,then the gym leader absolutely destroying you then the last part with the heroic struggle and eventual comeback to achieve victory
Flannery's Torkal used overheat that took out my Swellow in one hit, thus harshly lowering Torkoal's Special Attack, and then my Swellow fainted. I threw in Marshtomp to finish the job using Mud Shot many times on Torkoal, and a few seconds later, Torkoal had fainted, leaving my Marshtomp the only one left that did not faint in battle, defeated Flannery, and got her Gym Badge.
That moment when the kid you helped defeat a legendary Pokemon no more than five minutes ago rolls up to your gym and proceeds to kick your ass with that very same Pokemon

As far I recall Pokemon Ruby (OG) was the only game I delayed the battle as long as possible just to enjoy the soundtrack since it has some of the best in the series. listening to it through youtube just send shivers down my body and one of the few to give a reason not to throw away the manual for the Regi's deciphering or the SwimmerGirl with her sneaky dialogue if she's swimming where does she keep her pokeballs? all good memories!

Bro, Flannery is my all time favorite Gym Leader in the entire Pokemon franchise along with Skyla. Flannery is the absolute cutest Hoenn PokeGirl ever because of her personality and voice from the anime. She was trying hard to act tough at first, but once you defeat her, she realizes that she got too heated and thanks you for teaching her to keep a calm mindset. And Lisa Ortiz was the absolute PERFECT voice actress to play Flannery! She gave her the exact same voice as Amy Rose from the Sonic franchise, and it suits Flannery and her personality absolutely spot on! Another reason why I love Flannery is because even though she’s hot-headed, you really see that she’s such a kind and sweet young woman. And oh boy she really is a tough Gym Leader to defeat. Her Torkoal is truly a powerhouse of a Pokemon. But yeah, Flannery sits at the #1 spot for my favorite Pokemon Gym Leader for so many reasons. I absolutely adore her and she doesn’t get enough credit. She’s so damn cute and relatable. If I were in the Pokemon universe, and if I encounter Flannery, I’d be praising her like you won’t believe and give her a hug. She seriously needs more love, attention, and support. I want to thank Game+Freak and Nintendo for creating one of the greatest video games of all time, and the best Gym Leader in the whole franchise! Queen Flannery FTW!!!
_Pokémon: Let's Go Evee/Pikachu_ was essentially a remake of _Pokémon Yellow_ , commemorating the latter's twenty year anniversary. I know it's unlikely, but I hope Game Freak makes twenty-five year remakes of _Pokémon Crystal_ , _Pokémon Emerald_ , and _Pokémon Platinum_ (preferably dubbed with voice acting.)
20 years later and finally I noticed the Gym leader theme is a more heroic version of the trainer battle theme.
