Whats so fire about this is you sitting next to Kasberg and he's talking about what makes a great student and what would make you stand out and you actually did all of those things! too cool. Proud man! He respects you. And so do we.
This is one of the best videos on dental school admission process I've ever encountered! I truly appreciate your time and effort and the valuable information.
I talked with Dr. Kasberg about 3 weeks ago and he made me feel so much better. MY GPA is not the best right now and he was understanding but REALISTIC. I'm happy that I got the chance to talk to him.
@@PURCHNIKI Hi! I did not contact him myself. I am in the pre-dental club at my university and they arranged for us the chance to speak with him 1 to 1. I believe his email should be in the website of the dental school he works at!
Just a few hours ago I was feeling incredibly discouraged about this process which I've been on for some time now. Navigating this journey as a non-traditional student who switched career to pursue dentistry can be very intimidating and confusing. Thank you so very much for taking the time to make this video, which I have to say came to me at the perfect time! Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
That’s amazing that you were able to interview the dean of admissions at your school! As a pre-dental student, it’s awesome to hear advice from someone on the inside. Thanks so much, and keep up the great work!!!
I thank you for posting this interview, beneficial isn't the word! I'll take very seriously this information, I feel better prepared going forward for having tuned in. Thank you again!
This guy gets it! He said the DAT doesn’t mean jack! Someone could have gotten mommy and daddy money to pay a large amount for study material that gave them an advantage. He says the GPA is more valuable because it shows a record of your studies in longitudinal. Various exams, timelines, etc is way more valuable than ONE test. This is the reason why there are currently about 7 schools that doesn’t require the DAT and reason on why many more will follow
This is extremely helpful, can you do a similar one for advanced standing program applicants? I am an international dentist, a video like this would greatly help me learn and better my profile.
Thank you for asking all of the questions! I applied after junior year and didn’t get it. The Dean’s answers made me look at my application objectively.
Very informative interview this was great. I'm a sophomore in undergrad with a less impressive gpa and resume ready to turn things around to set myself up for dental or medical school admissions. Thank you for putting this video out.
Much love brother I’m applying this cycle and take the DAT early May. I’ma overly ambitious dental assistant in the Navy, and I collect 3rds after we ext them in OS and soak them in NaClO. I set em up in stone and practice my different preps with amalgams and resin material. I’ve dropped into a few canals when I’m in Endo, but I’m on a Perio-Pros rotation. Would love to chat and get some pointers from you in the schools I’m applying to. Keep up the solid work, and I’ll see you again 💪🏾
Hey Joey, what's up! Not a bad idea to collect teeth, most dental schools ask you to collect some for your endodontics pre-clinical courses anyway. I would collect more than 3rds if possible! The more extra teeth you have, the more your classmates will love you haha. If you're looking to chat, send an e-mail over to studentdreli @ gmail.com ! Thanks for the comment!
Phenomenal video Eli, really grateful to have opportunity to learn from the Dean. Thank you again for this TH-cam channel, helping all the pre dental students with all this information to get into our dream schools.
This is the best video ever. So beyond nervous for whats to come in this cycle, but this video put so much of it to ease! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
If we do extra volunteering after submitting the application, how can we let the schools know that we’re still doing community service? Thank you for this video!!
So I studied my butt off for a good DAT score only for the anthropologist to say my daddy probably paid for a prep service that predicted all the questions that were going to be on my test…nice👍🏼
Hi! Very informative. Dr. Kasberg mentioned to enroll in a “pre professional masters program” for those have weak GPA. Does he also recommend a masters in biology? I am about to start my second semester in masters degree in biology, but it’s not “pre professional”.
I am 23 years old starting over as a first year at Arizona State University. I am hoping to get into Midwestern or ATSU so I can stay in Arizona. What tips do you have for someone in my position in hopefully securing admission to one of these schools? Thank you! :)
I’d say study bio and take science and chemistry slowly. I’m in same position and right now have c’s in both chem and biology because course is so fast paced.
Should I be worried if im a psychology major and i dont minor in biology? my university doesnt have an anatomy class that dental schools accept and im wondering if i can have just the pre requisite science classes done with a strong application (Besides not having done extra upper division biology classes)
This was huge doc eli. The stuff on these online forums are straight up toxic and not a reflection of reality. There’s some good info, but most of it is just doom and gloom. I honestly don’t know where I’ll be as a pre dent without you man, I appreciate you big time! I have a quick question doc, so right I’m shadowing dental offices around my area and sometimes it can be a little awkward shadowing, do you have any advice on that?
I appreciate it for sure! Means a lot, truly. My advice for your shadowing situation is to ask questions. Get to know the docs better and gives you a chance to find something you can relate on. Also will help you learn, fill the awkward silence, etc. When I'm shadowing post-doc at school, some easy ways I like to break the ice is asking where the resident went to dental school, why they chose that specialty, or just general questions about whatever procedure I just watched. Hope this helps!
Hes absolutely tweaking, im going to cc and getting my BS in Dental hygiene, ive worked everywhere in dentistry, Lab tech, Ill be assisting soon, and Hygiene when i grad, im not wasting a shit ton of money to goto a University.

Appreciate that bro! 🙌🏾 Dope comment
