I think I just discovered for myself that my microfiber sheets were causing sleep disturbances. I mean no matter what I did, nothing worked. I watched hundreds of videos, read plenty of articles and NIH studies. But this one change, changing from microfiber sheets to 100% cotton made a dramatic difference in sleep quality. My guess is the toxic chemicals they use to make that cheap plastic was harming me, and disrupting REM sleep. I only found out because sleeping on my awkward couch was oddly better than sleeping on my serta king mattress with memory foam padding. Didn't make sense at first. I skimped on cheap sheets. Never again. I don't care what the cost is for organic, I'll never sleep on poison another day in my life. Hope someone reads this and finds the information as useful as I did.
Can you please explain better because I am a little confused. I want to really enjoy waking up, improve sleep quality and wake up fresh and energized every morning but I never doo I always wake up a a sloppy sack of shit and i have a good quality matress and i get around 7 hours of sleep i dont know what to do please help!!!
@@FredericoGoncalves-cz4cv well what I explained before was simply using organic sheets. (Plastics in most things are bad) Though I had plenty of other issues with sleep. As a prediabetic I have issues with controlling my blood sugar throughout the night so there’s that. A natural supplement called Berberine seems to help with that. YMMV. Also wearing socks to bed has helped with nocturnal awakenings for trips to the bathroom. No idea why. Another thing you can do is get your Vitamin D and B12 levels checked, as they’re both strongly associated with sleep. In my search I’ve seen there are hundreds of reasons why your sleep can be poor. It takes a lot of trial and error but that’s just what’s worked for me so far. Hope that helps.
Last night i slept so good that i was finally able to run 5KM without stopping. I felt so strong and durable. All i literally did was brush my teeth, take a hot shower, and put on some deodorant/anti-transpirant before sleep. I'm never going to take a shower in the morning again, only the evening. Its so much better to wake up refreshed than having to freshen your groggy ass up.
Dan, good to see you posting. This seems like a sensible and easy thing to try. Improving sleep quality would help me. I think possibly in editing your video you've taken out most of the natural pauses between sentences. It makes you sound a bit like you are racing to get through something where you have a time limit! Again, great to see your post.
I've always had bad insomnia, but recently, I was complaining that for about 2 weeks, I was getting the most restful sleep of my life and then it stopped out of nowhere, i tried to figure out what it was that made me sleep so well, but as I was watching this video it finally hit me I've been taking all my supplements and medications at night about an hour or two before bed and then I got out of rythem and stopped and so did my awsome sleep😭
Great video, I typically sleep 5 to 6hrs wake up by myself and am fine. I would however Love to get more / better sleep, I cannot wait for the next video. Am glad you're back. Cheers.
I'm taking Bromantane from Swisschems to help me with alertness and focus through out the day. Surprisingly, Bromantane also helps me improve my sleep. Really love this nootropic
Try to get an hour of daykight in tge middle of the day. Tge blue light exposure advice is the wring way round. Outdoors is typically 20,000 lux vs 100 indoors. So we need propoer outdoor daylight to reset the body clock.
I get up at 3:30am on my workdays, do a pre-work bike ride (usually between 15 - 20 miles depending on the weather etc), do a physical full-time job, and then ride home again (the short way (four miles)) and also co-run a house with two teenage offspring. I usually sleep like a proverbial log. Six hours is good for me and I'm as good as always bouncing about with energy, despite being 50 in a few months. My wife, on the other hand, doesn't have quite such a physical lifestyle, but she does exercise regularly. She quite often complains about being tired, which probably isn't being helped by her being a back-sleeper and spends a large amount of the night impersonating a wounded warthog. I have just ordered some magnesium to see if that helps her with her sleep.
Speaking from experience, it sounds like your wife has sleep apnea. Has she ever had a sleep study done? In lieu of a CPAP machine, I've found that wearing a "breathe right nose strip" (the extra strength tan coloured ones seem to adhere the best) and sleeping on my side has done wonders for quality of my sleep. I would also recommend that she get a fitness tracker that also tracks sleep. I use a FitBit Lux and it's been really helpful for monitoring my sleep quality, blood oxygen levels, etc. And yes, Natural Calm magnesium powder before bed really does help as well!
Mg taurate is another form that supposedly helps sleep and blood pressure. I've watched several videos and almost no one mentions it. I do think those on other blood pressure meds should discuss it with their doctor before trying it.
Magnesium Citrate gives me a raging headache if I take even as little as 1/4 teaspoon. It's either the magnesium citrate itself or something else in the Calm brand product that is affecting me. The headaches are so incredibly debilitating and difficult to get rid of that I'm afraid to run a test by taking magnesium citrate by itself to see if it is the magnesium itself or if it is another ingredient in Calm causing the issue.
Magnesium Citrate gave my grandpa brutal diarrhea, especially because here in our careless country the package said 2 grams per serving . . . Now he takes about 260 mg of Magnesium Chloride. But I think Magnesium Glycate will do him better, thank you. How about Magnesium Threonite? Any luck with that ?
Hi dr Dan. If you want to take magnesium in the form of epsom salt (magnesium sulphate), how much should you drink? And is it okay to drink it as a supplement?
My samsung watch tracks my sleep. I dont sleep very well. I have no problem falling asleep, but I wake up several times during the night. Sometimes I wake up at 3am and cannot go back to sleep. It's really annoying. My rem sleep is almost always less than average. Magnesium supplementation hasnt really had any effect. Ive recently started taking 2 grams of taurine per day, but so far that hasnt made much difference either.
I'm on intermittent fasting and don't eat after 5pm. I return from work only at 11pm and go to sleep at 1am. Can I use magnesium as supplements at 11pm with water?
Please research why people think magnrsium oxide is poorly absorbed. I think it was a study with 15 people and the results varied extremely, going from negative absorption rates to more than 100% or so for different types. In the end they listed the average absorption rates which had extrem margins if error. Basically all useless.
How do you track your sleep? Are you able to track sleep quality, as well as quantity?
No caffeine has made me so much better ,

Wonderful to have you back Dr Dan!

Magnesium L-Threonate is the only one that crosses the blood brain barrier. Works great for sleep!

You’re a jerk. I feel sorry for your wife.
Excellent video. Thank you!
Magnesium carbonate or sulfate weren't any of the three you mentioned at the end. Do you have thoughts on them? Thanks.
I was taking mg glycinate at night and had vivid but anxiety inducing dreams. I switched to citrate and the dreams are still vivid but less anxious
You mean magnesium citrate ❓
It's 3am and I'm really scared as if like something's here not letting me sleep woke up my mom but she said sleep I can't!

taurine is a stimulant, I think, it’s like drinking 2 coffees!
@@erenta72it's not by itself. It's a little weird
Should we really be using electronic devices on or near our bodies 24/7?
My fitbit always says i've had a decent sleep, I'm exhausted.
The NOW Supplements magnesium you recommend says it from oxide and citrate? I thought we were supposed to stay away from oxide?
long time no see doctor
Can anyone please explain why if I'm carrying 30 kg of fat I need to eat fat it seems to me being in ketosis I would use my own fat for energy?
Using Garmin Fenix 7 with latest software

Magnesium Bisglycinate?
Is the same thing as Magnesium Glycinate.
