We decided to try something different and interactive for Halloween. Join us for an evening at Hotel Desperado, where you as the viewer will have the chance to uncover some references to some classic horror stories that we all love. How many can you spot?
Eric zann, it, and that dreaded yellow sign are all i caught, love it! (Edit) FoghornProductions just posted and that rabbit hole lead to The man from the sea!
In the elevator, "The Man from the Sea", which is the first release from your anthologies of short horror stories! conveniently on 31st of October, on Halloween! nice!
"You sir should unmask" "I wear no mask" dialogue is also from The King in Yellow by Robert Chambers. I think that it could also be a reference to The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe but maybe I am exaggerating 😅
You dead on. Red death Camilla: You, sir, should unmask. Stranger: Indeed? Cassilda: Indeed it’s time. We have all laid aside disguise but you. Stranger: I wear no mask. Camilla: (Terrified, aside to Cassilda.) No mask? No mask!
I read a short story years ago titled "The Blue Death". The story is told from the point of view of an ordinary man who begins to notice new people in his neighborhood. They just started showing up. They were very strange, exotic and aloof, these people, and the man was fascinated by those he met. There was a woman of their kind who amazingly invited him to come visit her, and of course he couldn't wait. And this is where the story really came alive. She offered him chocolates; some were ambrosia while others tasted of the grave. The visit became a swirling fever-dream and when he woke up, he was back home. And it was just a few days later in that neighborhood, that the asteroid struck. The asteroid carrying the Blue Death, the World Plague. The event these time-travelers were there to witness. They were tourists. This piece of work has the same kind of feel to it.
1:24 I am waiting for the continuation of The Man from the Sea. And it must be within four days. 1:37 Isn't that The Shining by Stephen King. I am not that strong in his literature, can make a mistake 1:54 This is definitely King. IT, to be more honest. 2:12 Wow, Erich Zann reference. You have a good taste) 2:47 Isn't all these people are from some Ligotti's short story? I didn't read them all 3:35 Yellow sign from Chambers' King in Yellow, classic
My favorite were The Shining references and The King in Yellow of course! The last scene also made me think of David Fincher’s last scene in Fight Club but perhaps the reference is from something else. Great job as always Foghorn team!
@@alzeke8707 Not really a prequel but set in the same universe as one of our previous releases, Sector 119. Hotel Desperado is referred there. Thanks for the support!
When I first saw this video in my recomendations, I didn't expect too much. But hell this was awesome. I am certain your channel deserves far more attention
This is great production. I watched the elvetor situation and i noticed on the left side. There was a poster of a creature with tentacles on its head. That's clearly one of your previous videos at 2:28
Haha yes, it was at one point! in fact one of the three corridors’ initial design was from a Bioshock concept art piece, since it tied together with the whole art deco style Hotel, but we later decided to change it. Thanks a lot for the support!
