BARC / VARAC Classic Race, July 2022 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Onboard Stephen Di Cesare - 1990 Mazda Miata
Weather was dry and sunny, went to the false grid on slick tires. Rain started falling as I was waiting on the false grid for the race to start and got heavier. I made a last minute decision to leave the grid and return to my paddock area to switch to rain tires for the race. Record fast tire change for team Mr. Miata Racing, returning to the grid as the field rolls out, now in last position.
On the proper rain tire for the conditions helped me overtake many faster cars in other classes and finished the race 6th overall. Unfortunately most of the race was under full-course caution due to a single car accident on the back straight. We returned to green flag racing with one lap remaining. Wish we had more to move up more positions.
