still brings me to tears. the people who decided to put this song on ff10 filled me with inspiration, hope and joy when they did. nothing hits as deep as the rivers of ff music
Wind, and my heart swimming in collected words Moved by the wind, in through the world. Clouds, like a voice that we all recognize Carry the holding future. Moon, on the sky as a trembling heart Shown on the glass unsteadily. Stars, shedding tears in an overflowing stream I see the night all around me. Suteki da ne Being together, all alone walking hand in hand. And I want to go to your city To your home, into your arms. That soul Inside your body From those conflicted nights As from my dreams. Wind died away, and I feel all the words Led by a gentle illusion. Clouds are the future that cannot be attained Told from impossible distance. The moon filled with night as it flowed through your heart Such faraway reflections. Stars, ripe like tears, like fruit falls from a tree I wipe my dreams off the nighttime. Suteki da ne Being together, all alone walking hand in hand. And I want to go to your city To your home, into your arms. To feel your face The touch of memory And now that I awake As from a dream.
Honestly translates better than a lot of Japanese songs. Some of the wording is still kind of strange for English, but it's hard to avoid due to the language differences.
Not sure why people give the singer of the English version such shit, I think she sang it beautifully. The mispronunciation of the titular Japanese line in the song could easily be chalked up to simple accent differences. I think it makes more sense to keep the title of the song in the song lyrics, regardless of language. I don't see people giving Japanese artists shit about how they absolutely butcher the English language in each of their songs in which it is featured. I suppose people are more fond of what they heard first and can't accept changes to it.
I think this song is really good in all version and this English version is no exception. While I do prefer the Japanese version, this English version is still fantastic. I think a lot of the times what they don't like is how lyrics gets changed but what the people don't realise is how it just doesn't work with direct translation or it just doesn't sound as good. Usually these music production change lyrics to suit the flow of the song and make it smooth since direct translation can make it clunky and just not work. But unfortunately many people won't understand that or so. While direct translation of the title can work but i do like how they kept it in as you mentioned, it's just good to have the title of the song kept in as it's direct lyric. Though strange enough there's at least one fan english cover (has different english lyrics) that i thought was better than this official English version.
I don't get why somebody would be like this, I'm so happy when people try to learn my language or even show interest in it! This song is beautifully sung!
I am a old gamer, I played all Final Fantasy entries and some of the spin offs, as some people commented here, every game has its own taste and elements that made it unique, but personally, I believe FF X to be a masterpiece, not only for the voice acting or the gorgeous graphics that have back them, but X has an amazing soundtrack and a heart breaking story, not only the purity of Yuna and Tidus romance, but the fact the entire world believe in something it wasn't real, X is a deep game...
I adore this song... Susan sings it so wonderfully and this recording is just... Wow! I'm seeing Distant Worlds this August, it will be my second time and I'm ridiculously excited! Thanks for posting this, it's lovely.
I was at the same concert, and if I'm being honest I was dreading hearing this song being sung in English, but once she started singing all doubts disappeared. Such a fantastic night, I just hope it comes back to Scotland soon.
@@Lily_Catt- bro, this was from 9 years ago! Time flies! 😅 for the song, I feel both versions are great! I like the classic Japanese one a little more, but this is still a great performance. Regardless of singer, the orchestra in the orchestral version is absolutely beautiful! Love FF-X soundtrack so much! 😁👍🏻
@@optiTHOMAS wow 9 years ago 😳 that's awesome! I recently beat FF10 a second time now and it's one of my favorite games! I do like the English Suteki da Ne but since I heard the Japanese version more I'm closer to that one😃 I'm so happy I got into playing Final Fantasy games.
Honestly, I love how the video was put together, so many times I can find myself starting to tear up. It's so beautifully made and honestly captures a lot. I've watched this video for over two years now, I still find it heart touching.
Final Fantasy will always be my favorite series. For me it goes beyond normal gaming, they create masterpieces with their amazing story telling and the beatiful music scores!
Omg this was amazing. Beautiful. Filled me with a sense of nostalgia and wonder. Thank you. Your voice is heavenly and I havent heard an english version as perfect as this. You made my week 3
This version is beautiful as well, I only prefer the japanese version because of the memories that go with it of the simpler times when all I had to worry about was homework and finishing the next rpg on my list.
Oh homework definitely came in second to my rpg work. I once had a chrono trigger marathon where me and my.buddy stayed up 3 days in a row to finish it. We would take naps and catch each other up on the details in shifts haha

Why are people hating on her pronunciation of "suteki da ne?" She has a bit of an accent, but otherwise pronounces the sounds just fine. Unlike most of the English you hear in Japanese songs where they butcher the pronunciation. This version of the song is really well done.
Suteki da Ne is so beautiful. Anyone who has not played Final Fantasy X and enjoyed this, I would highly recommend doing so. It has a beautiful romance, an amazing story, love the characters, great gameplay, and has great conflict.
Susan Calloway your voice is so beautiful it made me cry! I never cried listening to music before I thank you for this amazing experience from the bottom of my heart!
that just hit me in the feels. This song has been a favorite of mine out of all the final fantasy games. To hear the English version sung just as beautifully as the original just melts me down to my soul.
Im so happy that you sang this song it so beautifully done. Thank you so much if I didn't know any better I would have thought this was official sound track in English. Thank you so much love your voice.

I am at my wedding rehearsal and just found out my husband to be picked this song out for me to walk down the aisle to. It was a surprise. I am seriously the luckiest woman in the world.
Is it just me or do i feel emotional impact from the song when it was in Japanese and I don't understand any Japanese either... Which proves that you dont need to know the lyrics to feel what the song is portraying, you just need to listen to the tones, the flow of the sound, etc. Music can tell a story beyond anyones understanding without anyone understanding the words in it. Music is by far the BEST accomplishment that humanity has ever created!!!
I love the song, Nobuo Uematsu's music, Susan Calloway's voice and the game. I reccomend that people get the Distant Worlds CDs, whether you are a game lover or a music lover, these CDs cater to both worlds.
To whoever translated this, I have to commend them for keeping suteki da ne untranslated. Much like Tidus' final line (Thank you, in the Japanese version), I think it's intended to be a very coy, very traditionally Japanese way of saying "I love you".

Moved by the wind, in through the world.

Inside your body
From those conflicted nights
As from my dreams.

Led by a gentle illusion.

Told from impossible distance.

Such faraway reflections.
