    Tell you one thing I have autism and I happen to own 3 horses and not one of them are quarters but I have huge respect for quarter horses because of their pride and heart for the kind of horses they are but at least my big ole giant former 19 hand stallion and 2 mares love me and have pride like they do but I'm forever grateful for my 3 and I think horses are the best part of my life regardless of their looks as long as they're beautiful on the inside and we have a perfect bond together I love them like family like they're my kind. I take pride in horses and have huge respect for all kinds.

    I would have never thought I'd be impressed at something braking and going backwards, but the immediacy with which those hundreds of pounds of muscle tensed up and halted the momentum of the entire horse was palpable.

    There's a quarter horse at my universities barn named Patriot. He's little but fast. I rode him once and even a canter, I was surprised by his speed. I wasn't even asking him to reach his top speed and he was just like ZOOOOOOOOOM!

      One saved my life once. She stopped in her tracks from a canter when the saddle turned.

      Genetics still play a huge role. Some animals are just more skittish or more independent than others. And therefore need a lot to time and energy. While more trainable animal are very very motivated and love to learn. You don’t see a Belgian malinois do a border collie job.

    I would have liked to know how the breed developed.

    • @krn2683
      @krn2683 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      They started out as a mix of Spanish and English bloodlines brought over by colonists. There's also been some mustang and draft horse bred into them a little further down the line. The first registered stallion was Wimpy P-1 bred by the King Ranch in Texas. His sire was Old Sorrel who came out of a bloodline called Steeldusts.

    Thoroughbreds are also built for speed at long distances and so rarely do they get credit for it
