This had me tearing up. It's so sad that these bonds between animals get so easily ripped apart by us. God bless you and everyone else who appreciates these animals for the individuals that they are. And I hope everyone will apply this same sentiment to all animals- especially the dog rescue stories we see on here where dog friends and siblings are separated because some behavior specialist or blah blah said it would be best when they get fostered/ adopted. That's something that's always broken my heart and made me feel like a negative Nancy when watching some of your dog videos.
Not sure exactly what you mean about dogs, however our little dog was abandoned and collected by a pound. He was destined for death if not rehomed. Thankfully a foster carer drove 5 hours return to collect him and then help him find a home. Which is ours. We drove 20 hours return to collect him. He’s been with us three years as of yesterday and when I look into his eyes and think of his past and what he’s been through, it makes me sad. I’m just glad we could save his life and give him endless love.
You do realize he would normally have a doz females that would abandon him the second a younger stronger male came along. You can spin this to be warm and fuzzy but in the real world where he and her were actually free this relationship would be short-lived!
@@deannelson9565 not quite. A rival stallion who bet him may have taken over his herd that is true. But he may not have. Mares don't usually just abandon their stallions, they get claimed by a stronger stallion. And that doesn't necessarily mean that they don't miss their old stallion to an extent or that he won't miss them. But it's natures way and true that they probably would have moved on and he would possibly have claimed other mares. But no one can say for sure if they would still miss each other or not in any way because we're not the horses after all and we don't know what they think or feel.
@@actdsl6458 so once again let's get back to actual reality and not artificial emotions that were trying to tack on to suit or own perspective. A. a stallion only has the females as long as he maintains his dominance. B. The second he looses that position the mares move on. C. You literally just agreed with everything I just said well simultaneously saying humans don't understand how horses think and feel but you also simultaneously tacked on emotions that you don't know they feel you just hope they feel which makes them more relatable! Basically you agree with everything I said and managed to undermine your on point in one paragraph!
@@deannelson9565 not really because my point is, we don't know if they mares move on or not. People get up after losing others, they work, they keep going, doesn't mean they've moved on. My entire point is that you are right but with the exception of one thing, I can't really say if they feel anything, but neither can you say that they don't. Because truthfully, we don't know. We can only try to guess based off what we see. And even then different people see different things. I didn't argue they did have emotions. I just stated that no one could say whether they did or didn't.
I have reunited horses after many years apart and they truly do remember. They remember their mothers too and revert to foal-like actions. They remember people who did them good or bad and act accordingly. People think animals are stupid but they aren't. Horses are highly cognitive and in a small way are sentient (they have a sense of self and can recognise themselves in a mirror).

His owner saw him in a pen after he was rounded up with the rest of his herd. She bought him to save him from being sent for slaughter or being locked up in a dirty feedlot indefinitely. When she saw him jump up out of that corral, she knew he was very special.
Horses have a human-like ability to recognize others, a very long memory. I believe horses and donkeys have some of the longest memories of any existing animals. The main things they recognize others by is sight and hearing, so the sound of another horse and their body language and such.
She could have stopped with rescuing Pheonix, but she knew he wouldn't be truly happy without Ghost there beside him and went the extra mile to reunite them. That moment when the two bent their necks down into each other almost made me breathless with how tender the shared gesture was; almost like they're saying to each other "I'll never lose you again."
I am not trying to rain on your or anyone's parade, but: "She could have stopped with rescuing Pheonix, but she knew he wouldn't be truly happy without Ghost there beside him and went the extra mile to reunite them" In my opinion: The entire point of this video was, that these two beautiful horses were reunited. The point was never "rescuing Phoenix". So no, she did not know, that any human being on this earth "wouldn't be truly happy"...... and so on. She did not "go the extra miles to reunite them" for your viewing pleasure. If you watched the video, you know, that reuniting these two took TWO YEARS. This video has NOTHING to do with you, me or any of us. The person who recorded this video doesn't know any of us. The person who recorded this video isn't "The Dodo". The person who recorded this video just wanted to share this story about a wild horse meeting his mare again. The person who recorded this video couldn't care less about you or me. Again, the point was never "rescuing Phoenix" and the point was never EVER to reunite these two horses just you could be "truly happy". Again, not trying to be mean, but you thinking, that the person recording this video just did the whole "reuniting two wild horses" thing for us?....I don't know. As a city boy, I was never aware of how AWARE horses were till I was sent to live for school year on my aunt and uncles horse ranch in the high desert where I would get up before school, clean the stalls, bale hay, etc. I had full charge of a female quarter horse who was just under two years old so she was getting ready to saddle and I would run her around the corral with blankets on her back and just spend extra time with her and felt really connected somehow. That connection and bond was confirmed when I discovered that every time my school bus would round the bend to where it was in her sight, she would run around her stall and start leaping with excitement knowing that I was coming home. It was the sweetest thing ever and one of the best periods of my life.

Fun fact: the whole movie was supposed to be totally different and more brutal and have more abuse (that is truth based what happened at those times). Also another fun fact: Spirit most likely did not see his mare as a soulmate. She was just another mare to woo and have foals with. As we see in the twin foal scene, the "mother" is in the background and Spirit is the sire. This can be proven when you have knowledge of horse genes and when you actually know something about wild horses. There is a youtuber who has done a full video on this.

This. This is what makes putting up with all of life’s tragedies worth the fight. Stay strong y’all. Stay positive.
we need more than positivity, we need people like the woman who rescued these horses from a living hell ... that requires action, motivated by courage, integrity, and humanity ... to admit through actions that the way humans treat animals in our societies is wrong and unacceptable

Go vegan
Oh Lord this made me cry a river and there are people in this world that think animals dont have feelings
You do realize he would normally have a doz females that would abandon him the second a younger stronger male came along. You can spin this to be warm and fuzzy but in the real world where he and her were actually free this relationship would be short-lived!
And People think the don't have souls

I'm genuinely curious why they *need* to be adopted. Can you explain?
pyrotheevilplatypus from my understanding, they can overpopulate and starve.
@@pyrotheevilplatypus They’re an invasive species and are in danger of over population. If/when that happens, they over graze the land, causing damage to the ecosystem (insufficient food for native species) and soil erosion. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has two choices, round them up and sell them off to maintain their numbers at sustainable levels or cull them. Americans don’t like culling horses. In fact, the BLM is being sued in federal court over their plan to cull wild horses in Nevada by the American Wild Horse Campaign. There are also wild donkey (burro) herds that are on federal lands that the BLM is responsible to maintain. The same thing is happening with the burros.

His owner saw him in a pen after he was rounded up with the rest of his herd. She bought him to save him from being sent for slaughter or being locked up in a dirty feedlot indefinitely. When she saw him jump up out of that corral, she knew he was very special.
It's amazing how horses recognize each other's voice, looks and scents.
I am not trying to rain on your or anyone's parade, but: "She could have stopped with rescuing Pheonix, but she knew he wouldn't be truly happy without Ghost there beside him and went the extra mile to reunite them"
In my opinion: The entire point of this video was, that these two beautiful horses were reunited.
Seems either a bit entitled and/or selfish (no offense meant). Let us just enjoy, that these two horses are together again and that we got to see it, alright?
