Hi !! I am sending you so much love on your beautiful life journey 💛 I can relate so much to what you are going through and the way you are caring for your health, asking for help from a naturopath, and trying to eat as healthfully as possible. I haven’t completely healed my digestive issues and the symptoms that come at different parts of my cycle, but my partner is constantly asking me to be more kind to myself and allow myself more grace in the kitchen and in my life in general. If this statement might help you, I want to share it because you have helped me so much with my self love journey 💛 It’s this: You can sometimes have too much of a good habit or a good thing. My over-fixation on health and wellness was causing me to react poorly to even the “healthy” things because my nervous system was not feeling safe with food. Life is about enjoyment, connection and love. I was taking my health so very seriously and forgot to be in the moment. I think because I focus so much on it, I create more discomfort and rigidity around food. I am so deeply connected and attached to the sensations I feel when eating something “unhealthy.” The beautiful part of my journey that I love to share is that I have learned that I can have things in moderation. I am still working on feeling more at peace with my relationship with food and with my body. Just like the Earth, I am worthy of care and of nourishment and enjoyment. I am learning to treat myself as a sacred being that is worthy of enjoying things I once understood as unhealthy things: intimacy, vulnerability, carbohydrates, yummy snacks, and human connection ✨🫧
Thank you for sharing your beautiful story. I felt inspired to share mine too 🌸

I've been watching for a couple of years and I just need to say that bathtub and green wall is just GORGEOUS. Also I wish I could find 2 types of mushrooms in one pack here in Ontario too. I always make extra quinoa. I even freeze it in muffin tins (silicone to easily pop out) for my teens to thaw and use in school lunches. Thanks for the inspiration this week.

I had the knee issue you describe some years back. It took over a year to resolve and what seems to have caused it is fertilizer residuals in grains. I started only eating organic grains or imported grains, such as imported pasta from EU. I don't know if this is relevant to you, but I share in case it helps someone.

Kefir can be made with water kefir crystals - very similar to kombucha and has many very beneficial probiotics. It’s made by combining water, sugar and water kefir crystals, whereas milk kefir is made with milk, sugar and kefir crystals!

Hi Julia, Love your content! Hope this isn’t a downer but feeling lost still happens at 50 🤦🏻‍♀️ (ok 49) and prayer, whatever that means to each of us, is such a beautiful ritual.
I adore your recipes - while I am not exclusively vegan/vegetarian I eat plant forward and really enjoy how your meals are diverse and exciting, yet simple and affordable. I also appreciate your zest for life and travel. We just have this one human experience (at a time) and we must live it to the max 🤗

Hello! Thanks for sharing your take on the anti-inflammatory diet. So, I was looking up whether coffee was inflammatory or not, the other day, and I think it depends on your body and what else you put in it. If you were having milk and/or sugar with it, then I would say yes, it would likely be inflammatory. But, on its own, or with unsweetened soy milk (as long as your body is okay with that) it is one of the best sources of antioxidants (which reduce inflammation) in the Western diet.

Julia be very careful that your previous eating disorder - orthorexia - doesn't return and flare up, remember how you used to examine every food label and look up stats before buying anything? Trust me, food disorders never really disappear and they can rear their ugly heads anytime. Eat what you want, you do NOT have inflammation, who told you you did?? You are the picture of health and loveliness!

I fought with doctors most if my life because I knew something "wasn't right". After (literal) decades of medical professionals arguing with me about how my body feels, they accidentally 😂 figured out what's wrong with me last year (yes I meant to write accidentally and not actually lol), I was born with it..

Oil is very calorie dense, therefore the more oil a meal contains, the more it will satisfy you/you will be fuller sooner. It does not apply to olive oil only, it's like that for every oil😊

I am so sorry for the health issues, though i think you generally you eat nutritious foods. I am not vegan but i love to have a lot of vegan foods. I had the exact same issues (''bad'' knees even while not moving, eczema), and some mo': hormonal acnee and panic attacks. That before discovering I had Hashimoto's, an autoimmune condition of the thyroid. After eliminating gluten the problem with acnee and knees were gone in a few months (to see results with gluten you have to stay consistent for more de 1/2 months and be extracarefoul with traces). Fat soluble vitamins helped me everytime with the skin. But that is my story. I wish you a light soul and good health!

You were on the right track by not cooking with olive oil. It is not stable in heat and should only be used unheated. Coconut oil as it is solid at room temperature is what you want to use to cook with and with moderate amounts not going overboard with it. In addition nut butters I now make for myself with my food processor as unfortunately the oils sitting on top of nut and seed butters are not found there naturally and the manufacturers add unknown type oils in to make the nut and seed butters. Those themselves can be rancid and inflammatory.

Start having fish oil, yoghurt etc. not everyone’s body can absorb nutrients from vegan diet. A lot of people thrive on vegan diet but also a lot people don’t.
Take care of yourself and change your diet if needed. Not telling you to eat only animal products but at least take whatever is necessary for your body.
