I absolutely ADORE these pants, they're so comfy!!! I have quite literally worn them every single day since I made them! The only thing I'd change about mine is that I'd probably change out the waist elastic for a drawstring made in the same way as the ankle tie thingys, because while the elastic is fantastic for everyday use, I find they fall down when I'm using them for LARPing (yes, I have shortened the elastic a few times now, it still happens... I get a bit intense with my LARPING!).
thank you for these wonderful pants, and this wonderful video!

I'm almost 75 years old. I don't know if I would wear them or not. I have never seen anything quite like them in real life. At times they looked like a skirt on you. Other times I could see the leg ties. I would have worn them in High School (if there had been a pattern for them back in the 1960's); because, we were the A.C. Davis Senior High School, orange, black, and white, Pirates. I would have had to wear them as a skirt (because I am female and girls were not allowed to wear pants to school back then). They would have been fun to wear on school spirit days (in the school's colors) for the pep-rallies.

With you! I'm also of a certain age, and remember not wearing pants at school! These are pretty cute!

@@lauralake7430 Yes. They are darling on her. However, I am now knock-kneed. I can't wear shorts (because they ride up between my upper legs); plus, my pants wear out between my upper legs first. I was not built like this in High School.

I would say try them, why not? :) I'm 35 and think they are cute, but I'm broad through the hips and flat in the butt, and my upper thighs also kill my pants first.

Gotta love those old Singers--they don't have any fancy stitches, but they are reliable, easy maintenance, and most problems you can fix yourself.

Used this pattern for my pants as a ren faire actor! I ended up adjusting and making it a tie waist instead of elastic, but I loved this pattern! The pants look great and people keeps asking where I got them. 10/10!

These are SO cute ! I might be tempted to make a drawstring waistband versus an elastic band, as that is a personal preference.
To me, they read not only "Pirate" but also 'Hobbit' !
    Thanks for sharing !

I will totally wear these pants. I live in a warm, humid, tropical climate so I will make mine out of linen, as most of my clothing is. I'll keep them at the knee too. As for the waistband, I might do a drawstring.

So happy with how these turned out!!! I could see myself making a million pairs lol. I have some pretty long legs, so mine have a little less poof, but still a great amount regardless! I love how versatile they are, and how you can wear them in 2 ways: at the calf, which for me is a bit less poofy, or with the cuffs at the thigh, which gives me MEGA poof and still sits really nicely!!

I am in absolute love with these pants. I plan on making a pair for use as "slops" at colonial reenactments (I reenact as a generic Sailor) I will also use them for larp. I'm going to be making them from an 85% Linen 15% viscose blend and honestly they look so light and airy during the summer I'm probably going to be wearing them all the time. I may try my hand at mild pattern modifications and adding a drop front fly and cufflink closure leg cuffs. (If I do this I'll be sure to share the results with you.

I absolutely love your patterns! I am heavily considering these for a simple 1890s inspired sportswear outfit, for biking and hiking. These pants in gray cotton twill, a shirtwaist or turtleneck, a tweed blazer or cardigan, wool stockings, and boots, and we're good to go.

I added these to my list of things to make. I would do mine in a black linen and a black linen pin stripe v-neck blouse to match. Perhaps with one of my retro black blazers, stockings and granny boots. I'm long past caring about what others think. Would be a lot of fun to wear.

I have a very busy printed cotton, which may be too heavy for these pants, but I want to make them anyway. I shall ponder.

Do you think I could make these secret pants (a la Rachel Maksy) if I made pant leg even wider and used a regular hem finish?

When you sew the pocket pieces together, do you sew them right sides together? Not right sides together? In the instructions, it's not specified and I can't tell from the fabric you're using in this video.

    • @Ora_Lin
      @Ora_Lin  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hi Alice, the pocket pieces should be sewn right sides together.
