Colter Wall is a modern day Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings hybrid! He's amazing! Stripping music down, back to it's roots! It's so real, and raw! He's beautiful! I'm in love!
...heard this song broadcasted in a Berlin Radio Station...tonight I`m absolutely flashed...he`s playing live here for not more than 15,-E . Wonderful song... , good man, like that sound even though I `m more with the desert rock sounds ... I do absolutely recommend this guy ! Great!

"Mr. Van Zandt alludes to an afterlife and the possibility of seeing his deceased loved ones. He finally realizes that although death would be no relief from the pain of his lost love, it would at least mean a chance to see his father again in the next life. Van Zandt’s narrator’s preoccupation with death seems to shift because he appears to embrace the thought of being with his father on the “long holy train.” (Our Mother the Mountain, 1969)@@tosho7523

These are country lyrics, from the "Snake Mountain", not from a city. I've seen more solo acoustic performances than I could ever attempt to count, but this has to be one of the absolute best. Even when he appears to make a mistake on the most climactic lick at 1:42, for me it conjures up a vision of an old western stand-off that's about to get ugly. I can only judge by the way he sneers and looks away afterward, but Colter, even your mistakes sound awesome.
Colter......revamped and TOOK FIRE AND the secret or STEEL.......and OWNED THIS song to the point , its his own....2017 truth recording. so clean and dirty...
Mr. Ten Dollar Man Let me tell where you're bound Drink your green liquor Lord, you roll to the ground Well you come around here With your money in your hand Tasting my woman Well you die where you stand Well the Snake Mountain blues Got me down low I could die in the morning Ain't no one would know Well my woman she come around My body she'd find Go down 'n Dundee And have her a time Well my daddy Lord he rides On a long holy train The first winds of winter I see him again And it's fare well And it's yellow-headed misery I've known Snake Mountain's calling, calling me home Well the Snake Mountain blues Got me down low And I could die in the morning Ain't no one would know Well my woman she come around My body she'd find Go down in Dundee And have her a time Have her a time
Wow, interesting thought. His voice sounds like a Modern Day Johnny Cash mixed with a style some what like a young Ronnie Van Zant, and this song was written by Townes Van Zandt. And it's from 1969, umm.. IMO. I like it !! Mr. Ten Dollar man Let me tell where you're bound Drink your green liquor, Lord You'll roll to the ground But you come around here With your money in your hand Taste of my woman You die where you stand Snake Mountain blues They got me down low I could die in the morning But none would know My woman come 'round My body she'd find Go down to Dundee Have her a time Snake Mountain's Gonna crumble Lord And fall from the sky Before that woman of mine Stops tellin' her lies If I'd die Lord she'd weep She'd weep and she'd mourn Soon as I's buried Forget I'd been born Love of black-skinned woman She won't do you no wrong Slow to start moanin' She don't moan for long A yellow-headed woman Brings you nothin' but pain Take all you give her She leaves only shame My Daddy, Lord he rides On a long holy train First winds of winter I'll see him again It's farewell to this yellow Headed misery I've known Snake Mountain's callin' Callin' me home Snake Mountain blues They got me down low I could die in the mornin' No one would know My woman come around My body she'd find Go down to Dundee Have her a time
May be someone elses song but Towns never played it or made it his own like Colter has done........even though its towns.. this is the most haunting version or whatever of any song i have heard in 30 years at least.. ITS mAGIC..............
Everytime I hear this I feel that someone has walked over my grave. This is deep Townes. Colter honors that. Good lord deliver me from cold blooded women. lol
the fake, paste on beard and mustache makes sense to me... i mean, to at least be perceived as an adult, order at the bar and stuff. Just incredible. I'm a metalhead and I'm in love with this dude... keep up the solid work
I'd kill to hear him sing the stanzas about the black skinned woman I feel like it woulda sounded good. There's a few stanzas he left out but it's alright bc it's still phenomenal
It's dropped d but he's usually down a full step as well. So tune to dropped d and capo up to the second fret and it's pretty close. Unfortunately my Taylor doesn't have the same dark tone as that Martin.
At first I thought he missed a note, and maybe he did, but then I played it back a time or two and it actually sounds cool. His face says he didn’t mean to do it but it sounded neat in the end
Travis picking is a good choice for the instrumentals, but the drugged pace seems not to fit the nightmare of the words, and the singing does not sound confident.
i would like to think each song and its different things represent the mood and feelings hes got, better to have an artist that feels his music in himself and just plays what his feels are!
I think you overlooked the artistry that the pace, instrument, picking, and and mood setting delivery of darkness all combined to a singular performance.
That voice and that Martin go together like thunder and lightning
They cut through a mans soul
Soul mates!!
Glad to see Colter bringing Townes' best songs some recognition
His voice is so phenomenal that his stellar guitar chops get overlooked

Not TVZ though, this guy is forsure og outlaw country
I think he's better than Johnny.
Real & raw on some Sorry he's far from Cash THANK GOD !!
My dad says the same. Killing it
That's him, officer. That's the Highwayman right there.
Man, this guy is so the real deal.
My new favourite artist
cant be denied....Mine as well..
Him and Tyler do it for me.
Right. They are literally the only two country artists I listen tooo besides a little bit of Cody jinks.
Me too,,
He is the "New King of Country"!
Three chords, the truth, and a voice of gold!!
You don't get enough recognition Colter
His voice could melt any woman. He’s so talented it’s unreal.
CGCFAD is the alternative tuning he’s in for anyone wanting to learn this. Not sure what that’s called, but them are the notes.
Drop C
Jesus! this makes me wanna crawl into a fucking hole and cry everytime i hear it. Much love and respect Colter and Townes
This will always be my favorite country tune, thanks to Mr. Colter Wall.
and Townes, of course
townes van zandt lives on!
Kevtron9000 yeah
So does Johnny Cash!!
Not here he don’t
One of the best songs I have ever heard
One of my all time favorite songs!

Townes Van Zandt would be proud
Absolutely love these session's. I very much prefer the lower tunings of these versions.
how does his voice just sound like that 🤦🏻♀️ it’s amazing
“My daddy lord, he rides on a long holy train. First winds of winter I’ll see him again” this hits me very hard
what does it mean

@@ollikoskiniemi6221 Even in the city, if he'd be homeless which Townes did like to write about. You could freeze to death
oh my god can't get enough of his voice
and another one that definitely needs learning 🎸
Happy to see this comment. Hope you do a tutorial. This is my favorite song on the new album.
your lessons are the best. can't wait to start on Saskatchewan 1881 tonight! Thanks for all the effort you put in.
Thank you for your lessons!

yes but also he didnt practice the song for the session, it was an unexpected fan request from the interviewer after he finished his set
Chills
This song is like daily fiber for my soul
This is unheard of. Wow.
Reminds me of listening to Townes, not so much in the voice but just the feel of the music, cool cover colter!
Colter......revamped and TOOK FIRE AND the secret or STEEL.......and OWNED THIS song to the point , its his own....2017 truth recording. so clean and dirty...
this is wayyyyy better than the album version holy shit
8 ten dollar men dislike this video.
like 23 now. They're so salty
Just shoot them down and move on...
chills, just so awesome
Mr. Ten Dollar Man
Let me tell where you're bound
Drink your green liquor
Lord, you roll to the ground
Well you come around here
With your money in your hand
Tasting my woman
Well you die where you
stand
Well the Snake Mountain blues
Got me down low
I could die in the morning
Ain't no one would know
Well my woman she come around
My body she'd find
Go down 'n Dundee
And have her a time
Well my daddy Lord he rides
On a long holy train
The first winds of winter
I see him again
And it's fare well
And it's yellow-headed misery I've known
Snake Mountain's calling, calling me home
Well the Snake Mountain blues
Got me down low
And I could die in the morning
Ain't no one would know
Well my woman she come around
My body she'd find
Go down in Dundee
And have her a time
Have her a time
Thank you for the lyrics!
So f*****g awesome😳😍
So natural,old time music.
He doesnt even look like he's trying.... wow
💜 Don't Quit .
I just love him!
The real deal.
Drove On Capone
real deep voice ! so southern
southern Saskatchewan
Wayne Blosky south isn't a geographic area anymore
Great Townes cover!
he does a great job. wish he wouldn't have left out so much of the song though.
Colter keep on strumming!!!😎👍

Snake Mountain blues
They got me down low

But none would know
My woman come 'round
My body she'd find

Have her a time
Snake Mountain's
Gonna crumble Lord
And fall from the sky
Before that woman of mine
Stops tellin' her lies
If I'd die Lord she'd weep
She'd weep and she'd mourn
Soon as I's buried
Forget I'd been born
Love of black-skinned woman
She won't do you no wrong
Slow to start moanin'
She don't moan for long
A yellow-headed woman
Brings you nothin' but pain
Take all you give her
She leaves only shame
My Daddy, Lord he rides
On a long holy train
First winds of winter
I'll see him again
It's farewell to this yellow
Headed misery I've known
Snake Mountain's callin'
Callin' me home
Snake Mountain blues
They got me down low
I could die in the mornin'
No one would know
My woman come around
My body she'd find
Go down to Dundee
Have her a time
He sounds like Colter Wall.
Conner Luther you figure that one all out by yourself?
Reminds me of Sean Rowe!
See Colter every chance you frigging get..
Oh yeah!👍👏👏👏

To Kenneth Milan....been down that that road too. Probably go down it again, the fool i am.
one comment I MUST MAKE. I cannot believe a human created this song.
johnny would be proud
What genre of music is this! Would like to hear more of these dark ass songs
Anyone know what hat he’s wearing and what brand? I love it and wanna buy one
anyone can explain the 'go down in dundee, have her a time'? I'm stumbling upon that line every time not knowing what it means.
I think he’s saying that his women doesn’t care for him and she’d pay no mind to his death. She’d go to Dundee and enjoy herself and have fun.
the fake, paste on beard and mustache makes sense to me... i mean, to at least be perceived as an adult, order at the bar and stuff. Just incredible. I'm a metalhead and I'm in love with this dude... keep up the solid work
He is young, no paste on at all. Just passed adolescent!!
I'd kill to hear him sing the stanzas about the black skinned woman I feel like it woulda sounded good. There's a few stanzas he left out but it's alright bc it's still phenomenal
this is better than townes version which is heard to say
What tuning is he in?
Drop D but he’s always a little bit out of tune
I think it is drop D but also a whole step down, then he puts capo on 4th fret, so technically it is drop D with capo on 2nd fret
Anyone know the tuning here?
Eric Eckmann drop d
It's dropped d but he's usually down a full step as well. So tune to dropped d and capo up to the second fret and it's pretty close. Unfortunately my Taylor doesn't have the same dark tone as that Martin.
Tuning? Drop D?
Steve Williamson Most likely, knowing Colters style, a whole step down with a capo on the 4th fret.
Drop D, capo'd at the 2nd fret. D minor, two other chords I don't know the name for > DADBGE - 330010 & 660030
Nice 00-17 probably a 30s or 40s model
I prefer this version to the original. The original is good, but I like the slower pace of this. It feels less like a song and more like a story.
Agreed
Also that solo 🤌🏼
Too bad he skipped a whole verse.
Its tuning is much lower as well. I love this version.
I respect that but I disagree
I do believe this young man has been to the “Crossroads”.
I thought the very same thing
Townes Van Zandt is my all time favorite and Colter covering one of his classics is perfect!
I always play this song when I am leaving Montana and going back to Kansas
Born flesh and blood in the great white north but with a soul from Mississippi hill country or some backwater bayou.
Yah......Sask Canada...... Swift Current carried his soul into this world...VOICE of pure triple platinum...
Lots of hill country and back water in the “Great White North”
Oh my god he's got the finest voice a singer can have these days ...what a blessing to have this
Seeing him hit the wrong string made me suddenly feel not so bad about me trying to play his songs and hitting the wrong string 😂
That's what makes him great,CW is absolutely talented but even talent makes small mistakes sometimes. Keep picking king 👑
This is the best version of a song in written history
What 13 vile creatures gave this a thumbs down?
I love this guy,
But he left out a verse
Probably to keep politically correct
And that bugs me
Wow this guy is special..
my woman just walked across my grave with another man....
what a stud
Outstanding young talent!
How does this skinny mangy kid have a voice like that? Amazing
Dude his voice is special 1000000000
missing a verse. I wonder why he cut it out? was a PC decision?
what a powerful version!
The face of disappointment when he messes up
J.D Lawhon where?
At 1:44 just after the bend when he did the slide into the 4th fret he meant to slide into the 3rd.
I think it just makes him hit those chords harder after, which is my favorite part
Townes van Zandt forever. Great job Mr. Wall.
Van Zandt's tune all right, but Wall's rendition - which I think is even better than the original
Outlaws for life...
Wish this version was on Apple Music
Once in a generation talent.
Flawless
Way better then the original always thought this song should be slower and more blues style
Love this version. Great cover.
1:43

@@brandonburks4172 idk maybe he did I was just using that to pin the start of the solo when I was learning the song lol
