Hi all, Happy Sunday 😊. The discount code for all Little Windows products is Daniel15 and that's 15% off everything. Fran is also looking into a cheaper shipping option for those outside the US but it will only be for the films, I will update you all once it is set up 😁🥰x
I'm just a dabbler in the resin art world, but I'm very proud of three faux opals I did a week ago. First I dusted the mold with a muted metallic mica powder - a silvery white with a slight blue interference. Then I added a layer of UV resin, just filling the curve of the mold. After that was cured I cut a piece of crinkled cellophane (just the regular cellophane you can buy in the gift section of any store) to just slightly smaller than the mold, laid that on top of the cured resin, then topped off the mold with more UV resin, gently pressing the cellophane with a toothpick to work out any possible bubbles and make sure the resin got into any gaps. Before curing it I sprinkled a bit more of the mica powder on top and swirled it in with the toothpick. One final cure and I had beautiful faux opals in 10 minutes.
:) Opals are my favorite gemstone. I love the matte effect on these. DANIEL, DON’T FORGET TO BUY SOME MATTE TOP COAT NAIL POLISH! If I lived next door to you, I’d just lend you mine lol
I told my husband mid way through the video, that i bet fheyd look even more realistic if you sank some of the film deeper into the resin. And then you mentioned it at the end! Lol glad to know you heard me. 😁 Also consider adding just a touch of white to your resin first, you might be able to achieve that milky look and keep them shiny! Looking forward to more experiments!!! ❤❤❤
I would LOVE to see you use the matte nail varnish and see what the difference in look is! I tend to get pain in my hands so sanding would be difficult for me as well!
Gorgeous! I like them both ways, but the matte ones are more opalish. It might be cool to try this with a very thin layer of milky white resin first, then cure, then fill with clear and finish as before. That SHOULD provide a layer for the colors to bounce off of, without needing to sand down to matte. Shiny opal!
Personally I like them better shiny. The only exception would be the white heart (3rd one from left) but I do prefer shiny 😊. ✌️❤️🤣 peace, love and happiness
Hi Daniel I love all of the pendants that you've done. I must say I do prefer them shiny . I did buy some Dicroish films from Little Windows & I'm very pleased with the kit. I've just got to wait till it stops raiining here to have a crack at it. Thank you for sharing your work with us
I like the white backed ones, but I love the last 2 you displayed 😍😍😍😍, they all are pretty but the white background is the best and I also like them sanded better! your AMAZING as always. ❤
Well I never. Who thought matte would be so attractive. Obviously you. Just stunning. Makes a huge difference. So impressed. Don’t forget to order your matte thingy stuff! Thanks Dan 😊
Love this use of the iridescent cello film! Really nice to see the variations side by side of your efforts. Chasing the faux opal look has been a passion of mine for several years! Yes. I’m opal mad!!🤩😂🤩🌈💎
Those are beautiful. Personally, I do prefer a high gloss shine. I think the trick would be in layering the films within the resin, as opposed to having just one layer. One of the channels I'm subscribed to is Black Opal Direct, where he cuts and polishes actual opals. The colours are in bands throughout the stone, and are often accentuated by a darker base of the host stone. (... much like the white or black backing you use for your cabs) Gem quality opals contain multiple coloured layers, and when polished, show colour whichever way you look at them. If you could replicate that kind of effect with resin and dichromish film, you'd have an absolute winner! Honestly, if I didn't have so much going on right now, I'd give it a go myself. I don't often comment, but I always enjoy watching, and being inspired by your content, Daniel. Thank you!! 👍🙂 Cheers!
Other resiners keep saying watch Daniel cooper videos he is amazing and they are right. I love these. This video just popped up on my feed so I watched you. And i am Glad I did.three thumbs up
Love these Ghost Opals, what Matt nail product do you mean? I used to watch a wide range of artists for design and technique. No I only follow you and one other artist. You are so innovative and informative, TYSM for sharing Cara x
I like it, and it is so close. Might I suggest trying these two options as well. What if you put a slightly thin layer of white on before sanding on the front that is. Then sand to a Matt finish. Second maybe a real thin layer of white on after sanding? Now you have a brilliant technique getting the flashing inside. Only thing that makes me say not quite there is I can still see the film and to me that loses the real opal illusion. Again I love your projects, and these suggestions may not even work. But they might also give it that final illusion. I will be trying it too but you have gotten so much closer than I have!
Was just coming here to say that the camera doesn't show anything near what it should look like... One of these days we will figure this aspect out and will be golden. I love the white background matte pieces, but the ones with the black background, not sure if I like them matte. Again preference and camera make the difference. I see a purchase in the near future from Little Windows, as I love their dicro-ish products and going there now to do just that, sending them to my mom's as we are moving closer to her in a couple weeks (2 weeks away) and she's holding onto my purchases for when we get settled. Going to have so much fun with all the new molds and goodies. Thank you so much for posting these videos, am getting more and more ideas that I will be incorporating in projects in the future! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🖤
I have fantasy film which is basically the same thing, I like to fuse the colors just because I like watching it , btw you can heat it with an iron or a hair straightener just make sure to use parchment paper on the heat source
Wow! What a great technique. When you held all those little pieces in your hand they just looked like abalone flakes (but a lot cheaper 😃 I love the white one. It just looks like Opal. I didn’t like the empty spaces on those with large gaps, to me they looked ‘spotty’ 😳
OMG... I LOVE THIS ... The film from Little windows is awesome. I have only used it 1 time and I wear it everyday ( somethings you just can not let go....LOL) . I will be working on this effect. Thank you Daniel for teaching me everything on my journey into the wonderful world of resin
Are those the same films we used in the 80s when gift baskets started with covered metallic film and we used the hair dryer to melt the film around the baskets?
That frosted white heart...! 😍 Daniel, its just *gorgeous!* This may be the _one time_ I actually prefer the white background! I wonder what the others would look like with the entire, single shape cut out of the dichro-ish film (rather than in bits), then backed in black or white, with matte polish on them? (save your hands...you need them!)
I love these, i think they would all look stunning in a bezel, my favourite though has to be the heart that looks like an opal, wow, it really does too. I have to say, i have never yet seen a 'bad' piece of yours x
These are just beautiful, thanks Daniel! But I may have a bias; I'm a glassblower and spent my first years sandblasting and etching nearly all of my dichroic glass. I did sell more of those pieces than standard 'shiny' glass, therein lies my bias.
I really don't know why people are commenting about you doing these, they look beautiful, opal like but not fake opal.. i wonder if a touch of interference mica or colour shift in a matte varnish would make it more opal like 😀👍 they're great.
I'm drawn to the white heart it reminds me of moonstone ❤ Clear on the others would be my personal preference. My eyes tend to try & "focus" a blurred image, but that's just me! As always, amazing tutorial! (Still no note on the beast "MIRROR, DAN!"😊
I was drawn to this video because I had wondered if you could emulate black opals. I really like both of the first two. The white opal effect is very good. The black opal effect is beautiful, but, at least for me, I would want to find a way for it to look like a polished gem. I’m not sure if that would be a possibility. Can you put this films between two pieces of cardboard/storyboard, cover the top piece of cardboard with a dishcloth and iron them to fuse them?
They turned out very pretty, I love the white heart. Thank you Daniel. I have seen someone using a matt uv nail varnish. It would save your hands . Thank you x❤
They are beautiful! I have been watching your videos for quite some time. You are such a great inspiration! Thank you! Happy Sunday from North Carolina
Awww..I love the little jewel look..not a fan of the dull...shiny all the way❤😊 Makes my eyes go weird. I love the beetle on the example sheet for the films
Goo job, Dan, you remembered the mirror!! 😄 The first one and the one from the day before are my favorites. It would be cool if there was a top coat that gave the frosted effect. I wonder what it would look like to mix some pearl ink in with the clear resin?
I have bought lots of little windows products because of you! Haven’t yet used (and am waiting for an order that got lost in post) but can’t wait to try this. DONT FORGET THE MATT NAIL VARNISH, IM OFF TO BUY MINE NOW. XXX

You should ask Fran if she could get some matte molds done for purchase. Show her your designs. I think she'd be intrigued 🤔
@Ali-H3444 thanks Ali 😊 Not a bad idea 😊
I have ordered a few things little windows
@Wildcat32615 yay, their products are so good 😁🥰
Love Little Windows things.

Yay, sounds great Becky! I must try that soon 😁🥰 thank you 😊 🙏
Wish you were able to post a picture of them 😢
Becky!!! I gave different suggestions but that might even be better!! Do you have yours post anywhere on social media so we can see them?????
Super idea and really like the idea of a solid piece of cellophane. Thank you fo sharing.
@@abalzeris831I know, it would be so wonderful if we could post pics on TH-cam
Matte top coat is what your looking for. The milky opals are the best. You rock, bro.
Thanks so much 🙏
:) Opals are my favorite gemstone. I love the matte effect on these. DANIEL, DON’T FORGET TO BUY SOME MATTE TOP COAT NAIL POLISH! If I lived next door to you, I’d just lend you mine lol
Thank you 😊 Such a hard one to get perfect 😂

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!❤
The white heart in the middle is the closest to an Opal I have seen with resin!! I can't wait to try to duplicate it as I absolutely LOVE opals 😮😮😮
Thanks so much Dolly 🙏
The heart with just the film and the white back is my favourite. They are all amazing, but that heart is just stunning. Great job Dan 👍💗🥰
Thanks Michelle 😁 😊
I hear you on the hands thing!!! Mine sympathize with yours!
Beautiful work!
The white ghosty heart is definitely my favourite, it’s beautiful ❤
Thanks Sarah, looks so much better in different light too 🥰
I like the white backed ones, but I love the last 2 you displayed 😍😍😍😍, they all are pretty but the white background is the best and I also like them sanded better! your AMAZING as always. ❤
Thanks so much Gorgette 😊
The white backed opal effects are stunning....the darker pieces i would prefer them shiny... great job and thanks for sharing again Daniel.....
Thanks so much 😊
Well I never.
Yes. I’m opal mad!!🤩😂🤩🌈💎
the 2 oval ones are definitely my favorites but the only one that looks like an opal is the white matt heart that you put the textured film in
Those are beautiful. Personally, I do prefer a high gloss shine. I think the trick would be in layering the films within the resin, as opposed to having just one layer.

Thank you 😊 It's a great journey and I'm certain I will crack the perfect opal soon 😁🥰
I like the shiny, but the matt is a whole different look. 😊
Thanks Bob, 100%, it's like two seperate effects 😁🥰
So nice. I love how it come out especially a white one. I will definitely try to do same ❤
Other resiners keep saying watch Daniel cooper videos he is amazing and they are right. I love these. This video just popped up on my feed so I watched you. And i am Glad I did.three thumbs up
Awesome! Thank you!
I like the shiny best, but all of them are awesome!
I love little windows products. Usually post their discount code on my video ❤ lovely pieces Daniel.
Thanks, will pin mine as a comment 😁
Stunning Daniel. Personally I prefer a glossy finish but the heart with only the film and white background is gorgeous.
Thanks so much Patricia 🙏 💓
SHINY❤ Sanding them makes my eyes👁👁 strained trying to focus on the pieces. Shiny is better. 🌹
Thank you 😊
I love all of these but the white one and the orange one are my favorites. great effects!
Love these but I think I like the shiny ones best? Maybe seeing them live would change my mind will have to try to see
Wow never thought I would love that sanded Matt finish but wow what an effect 👏👍❤️
Love these Ghost Opals, what Matt nail product do you mean? I used to watch a wide range of artists for design and technique. No I only follow you and one other artist. You are so innovative and informative, TYSM for sharing Cara x

Love the white heart and oval but i also like the black shiny ones
Thank you 😊
The frosted effect from the sanding really gives the pieces a new dimension. Not that they looked bad before by any means..
Daniel, I'm part crow, hence, I always want shiny. 😁
Remember to get Matte Nail Polish!!!
Great technique. I like the white ones matte and the black ones glossy.
Thank you 😊
Nicely done. Great idea❤❤❤❤

Thank you 😊 Yes, cameras can be a pain, especially when there is a kind of optical illusion in the pieces 😔
YES!WHAT? I am forever trying to create a fake opal that I like so ima watch this.
😁😁 hope it helps
I have fantasy film which is basically the same thing, I like to fuse the colors just because I like watching it , btw you can heat it with an iron or a hair straightener just make sure to use parchment paper on the heat source

Once again lovely pieces my favourite are the ovals and the white heart
Thanks so much 😊
Made it home from work and just watched the video.. I LOVE the heart shaped ones.. They are so pretty! Than you for a great video!!
You are so welcome! Thanks Cheryl 😁
OMG... I LOVE THIS ... The film from Little windows is awesome. I have only used it 1 time and I wear it everyday ( somethings you just can not let go....LOL) . I will be working on this effect. Thank you Daniel for teaching me everything on my journey into the wonderful world of resin
Thanks Tom 😁 Its great stuff 😁🥰
2,3,4,5 look the best to me. The results are very cool 😎. I do prefer the glossy finishes.
Are those the same films we used in the 80s when gift baskets started with covered metallic film and we used the hair dryer to melt the film around the baskets?
Yes, kind of but those films do not fuse together, well, the ones I have tried don't 😁
Thanks 😁 have done a few since this vid and they look incredible 😁
They are all great Daniel 🤩 I do like the shiny ones best but that last white one is cool 😍
They are all very pretty, but I preferred them glossy.😊
Thanks Gail 😁
I really like the opalescent ones.
Thank you 😊 🙏
I love these, i think they would all look stunning in a bezel, my favourite though has to be the heart that looks like an opal, wow, it really does too.
I have to say, i have never yet seen a 'bad' piece of yours x
Thanks so much Julie 🙏
Its so hard to get the cameras to see all the beauty your eyes can see. These are so pretty I wish I could see them in person.
100% Kim 😊
These are all very pretty but my favorites are the white backed.
Thanks Carol 😁
These are just beautiful, thanks Daniel!
But I may have a bias; I'm a glassblower and spent my first years sandblasting and etching nearly all of my dichroic glass.

Thank you 😊
They all look fantastic. I really love the black heart though.
The white ones look cool! The matt stuff you need is a matt gel polish top coat. It cures under your uv light. Good luck
Thanks Sue, another viewer said it's not good stuff and wears off, I will look into matte molds or just wear my molds down more 😁😂
I'm drawn to the white heart it reminds me of moonstone ❤
Clear on the others would be my personal preference. My eyes tend to try & "focus" a blurred image, but that's just me! As always, amazing tutorial! (Still no note on the beast "MIRROR, DAN!"😊
Thank you 😊 Yes, I need to remind myself 😂
I love these!! Was hard to watch being blurry looking with the old eyes, but love them. I am finally placing my order for Dichro-ish! You sold me!
Thank you, yes, so hard to look at up close 😂
The white ones definitely look better - I'd call them "Ghost Opals" - great job Daniel.
Thank you 😊
Wow stunning
oooo! that’s amazing! i want to try to make some dice like this!
Great video Daniel, i prefer shiny myself but thats just me oh and daniel DO NOT FORGET THE MATT STUFF, SAVE THE HANDS
Thank you 😊 🙏
It will look even better if you add dew drops using UV resin.
They are beautiful Daniel. Especially the large ovals. I have some film left. I'll have to give this a go soon. 😊
Thanks so much Ali 🥰🙏
I love shiny things but the matt ones with the white background look amazing. I prefer the black background with the shiny ones
Thanks Maz 😁

Thanks Lesley 😁 😊
They are all stunning, but oh my goodness, the last two you showed WOW just WOW,great work as always 👏😍
Thanks Colleen 😁 😊
So you ate just sanding and leaving them like thay? It's interesting and very beautiful
Those last 3 look amazing 🎉
They are beautiful! I have been watching your videos for quite some time. You are such a great inspiration! Thank you! Happy Sunday from North Carolina
Thank you so much! 🥰
Thank you, Daniel.
Love the white ones with the frosted effect! Those are simply gorgeous! ❤❤❤
Thanks so much 😊
I agree with you the heart with the white back with the matt finish, is stunning, it looks like white opal
Thanks Diana 😁 😊 🫂
O MY ! Think I’d try to put a window of sorts with tape on before sanding. Like a peek-a-boo ! Maybe a heart shape
That's a great idea 🤩🤩
I like the white heart and oval after sanding, and the black oval before!😊
Thanks Dolli 😁 the white heart is so stunning 😍
Awww..I love the little jewel look..not a fan of the dull...shiny all the way❤😊
Makes my eyes go weird.
I love the beetle on the example sheet for the films
Thanks Cheryl 😁 😊
I like them shiny better that just me but these turned out beautifully
Thanks Gerri 😁 😊 🫂
Very beautiful and unique. Love this technique. Thanks
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful ,think my fave are the last two 🎉🎉
Thanks Tracey 😁
🎉Really like the last black opal and two white opals.
Thank you 😊 🙏
I think they're all quite beautiful each one in their own way. Well done
Thank you 😊
Very nice, I like the frosted look. ❤
Thanks Maddie 😁
Love them bit different instead of gloss finish Love love
Thank you 😊
like the frosted look
Thank you 😊
They are all beautiful, however, I prefer them shiny. Have a fantastic evening, Daniel. 😊❤
Thanks Debra 😁 I think Shiny is winning so far unless it's the white heart one 🥰🫂
I like both, shiny and matte. And I liked the black heart with the orangish film... it looks like autumn.
Thank you 😊
Omg these are fabulous
Gorgeous effects. I mimiced an opal myself but in a different way. 💜
Thank you 😊
Beautiful Dan it gives a gorgeous effect ❤❤
They look just like opal’s after sanding. Beautiful!!
Thanks so much 🙏
Amazing ❤
Beautiful Dan!! Love them!!
Thank you 😊
Amazing! Love it.
Hi Dan, those are really pretty, but I prefer the shiny ones. I love the Little Windows films too.
Thanks Rhonda 😁 😊 🫂
Goo job, Dan, you remembered the mirror!! 😄 The first one and the one from the day before are my favorites. It would be cool if there was a top coat that gave the frosted effect. I wonder what it would look like to mix some pearl ink in with the clear resin?
Thank you, yes, remembered this time but maybe not next time 😂
I have bought lots of little windows products because of you! Haven’t yet used (and am waiting for an order that got lost in post) but can’t wait to try this. DONT FORGET THE MATT NAIL VARNISH, IM OFF TO BUY MINE NOW. XXX
Thanks Sasha 😁 Sorry 🙈😂
Personally I prefer the black background shiny. But all still stunning
Thank you 😊
