  • Finally! The long term review of the Cheap $360 ish easyrig minimax chinese clone. After one year of use (when the A roll was recorded), my thoughts have changed a bit. I don't know if I can recommend this option, they're just a bit too flawed, even for the price.

      Hey Cameron wanted to ask you how’s this easy rig working for you- 7 months later

      @@dareckmaurice9435 Ive used it a handful of times. Helpful with a fully kitted out camera rig. Covid has all but killed my business in Colorado over the last 6 months so I've not used it nearly as much as I planned. One thing to note, not great for walking shots, bounces terribly. Even tried with a gimbal. Best results were standing still or using a segway mini pro. They do make an attachment that is supposed to help with the bounce but I haven't tried it.

    You have adjusted the vest incorrectly. It's meant to go around your hips, not your stomach. Loosen the two straps at the sides so you can get the belt further down. Then adjust the height of the rod, with the screws at the back, if necessary. Then I'm sure you'll get a much better experience out of it. I'm so happy with mine, and use it for my heavy crane 3s gimbal as well. Perfect 👍

      I have 2 of these. neither of them are working as far as the cable moving freely up or down. What’s up with that. Every one I see online works or should work that way. Please advise

      @@chrislewis3272Just loosen the large round handle completely, and then tighten it slowly until it can only just carry your rig without you touching it.

    Haha.... I ordered one on the 29th. It is pretty well built, at least in the mechanics department. Just a few minutes ago I screwed it back together. I wanted to know what needs to be fixed and if one could change the rope. The roller bearings in the bent part of the support are rubbish, they produce most of the pull resistance and noise. But are nearly impossible to lube/change. The rope can be replaced (at least with some trickery), but not as easy as with an original easyrig. As far as I understood the mechanism, the big knob on the back doesn´t change any spring tension directly, it just rolls up the rope. The spring/tension stays constant. But the rope-spindle and knob are connected via the spring, so you do get mor tension with heavier setups. But in order to get the camera significantly lower or higher you have to use the knob on the backside, to change the rope length. The real easyrig mechanism works completely different with rope, pulleys and a gas damper. The gas dampers on the sides in this knockoff or reinterpretation are completely useless. On the original easyrig are adustable non damping rods that really support your back. I bought it with the pseudo serene (only one axis is damped) to support my 6 kg gimbal rig. I knew it wouldn´t help much when walking. Even with serene/puppeteer and a gimbal it is very hard to get smooth shots. I bought it for stress releaf of my upper body and arms. The original easyrig als hurts after 4 hours and a 18 kg setup.... ;-) For what it is, it is okay. But for 12 hour days I would always use the original.

      Hm that makes a lot sense actually, about how this knob works. I did suspect the system was completely different.
      Have you tried/have insight on the flycam branded ones without the knob? I doubt they'll work as the original but contrary to my initial belief, maybe they do operate closer to the original?

      @@NeverlandProductions Hi! Thank you for your answer :-) No, I have no insight into the flycam versions. But with the pricetag of the flycam systems one could also buy the original....

      Just got mine today and it seems solid. I bought it specifically for scenes when I wanted to use my anamorphic setup in handheld mode. It’s pretty heavy so this just makes it easier. I guess it’s ok if you know why you’re getting it but I’ll see on location soon.

    Hey brother...thanks for the review. I just got my Original Easyrig today and as soon as you put it on you feel the difference. Certainly worth investing in the original. Don't bother with the knockoffs...I've had my camera's drop off twice from that bootleg clamp. Good thing I was holding my cameras firmly in my hands

      @pjsagnia 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dareckmaurice9435 Hey Derek. No I actually still have it. I would occassionally use it for my lighter camera rigs. The Original Easyrig I have is a 500N so it can't take the lesser weights. I use the 500N for my Alexa plus which is extremely heavy. If I do use the knock off easyrig, I use it on my Sony FS7. I just make sure I hold my camera securely...lol. I do also have an 16x9 quick release thing that kind of helps secure it further

    Just received one, but the version with the spring device attached over it. That seems to make a whole difference with the original system. I use it with a Crane 3S (carrying a Sony A7III and some pretty large lenses) inside a ring and this chinese clone really helps using the whole system.
    The main problem for me is the confidence you need in the string. Once you wear the vest and it carries your whole heavy system, you easily get confident and rely only on it. You can't help but think about the string's resistance. Moreover once you fold the system in the bag, the string may get hurt by it's own tension against the metal frame.I put some foam at that place but a better system would have been nice.

    Opened the bag of my safely stored Easyrig - Clone after one year to find out THAT THE GREASE CREEPED OUT OF THE HOUSING WHERE THE LARGE KNOB SITS ON AND IT GUMS UP! Same model as in this video, about 3 years old. The grease has become sticky like tree gum. Isopropyl alcohol and Acetone(!) cannot remove it. I didn't try cleaning solvent or turpentine yet. The backside facing the vest is clean. Looks like the balancing function is gone. Dis anyone experience the same problem?

    i've noticed at 1:20 you have another pole clamped to the arm, can you give a little more insight on how/why you did that?

    • @NeverlandProductions
      @NeverlandProductions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So that is a super clamp - c-stand (amzn.to/3dysg6H and amzn.to/2Z8Zft5) combination to hold the rig up so I can demonstrate the adjustments and grab b-roll in general. But it's just to hold it up in this one scenario haha

    Buy the real thing. Why would you trust your camera to hang on something you have skimped on ?. Easyrig from Johan Hellsten in Sweden is the ONLY one to buy !

    • @crashfilm
      @crashfilm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shurely not the only one to buy.... that System is as "safe" as the original. I would always recommend an extra safety strap. The sole idea of hanging your camera on a thin string of rope is completely counterintuitive, but people trust it. And i don´t know if Mr. Hellsten will pay for your damaged camera, if his rope fails. I mean.....in the end your rig hangs only on a single knot, in both Systems. You just have to trust it ;-)
