What a precious little girl. I love how she looks up into your face, I'd have to smooch that little face. You can tell when she's had enough of one area, bless you for reading her signals. My little Pom died June 30 of this year, she was 17. I noticed when I brushed her, that her skin got thinner as she aged. Just like people. So I had to do it more often as she couldn't take the metal teeth on those brushes. I had to alternate brushes like you do. Keep doing what you do, with compassion for the comfort of the dogs you're grooming. That's what your customers remember about you, dog comfort comes first.
Oh, my. So I started using the line brushing technique on my girl, WHILE watching this, and WHAT a difference! Her attitude was different, and I couldn't believe how much I was missing in her daily brushing. 😳 "Skin out...skin out..." is my new mantra, first with pin brush, then picking with comb, just as you taught. I think she was a little disappointed when I stopped for a few minutes. Huge difference in how her coat lays down and feels. Thank you for this tutorial, as I've only had my girl for about 4 months and I've never had a Pomeranian before. 💗
You are the most angelic groomer I've ever witnessed! I cannot thank you enough for this video. I've learned so much from this and can now groom both my older Poms without torturing them. Your gentle, calming voice is like soft music to little Foxy's ears and it's clear that she trusts you. How I wish you were my dogs groomer! Too many bad experiences here.
Suzanne, you are fantastic! Your talent and professionalism is a lesson for us all. I just subscribed after binge watching a bunch of your videos. I have been grooming for over 30 years and I am inspired by your beautiful work and your kind, gentle hand on the dogs. New Year's Resolution: be more like Suzanne Grande!
I’m so thankful for the consistent patience that you have with this little Pom. I have a resistant sweetheart just like her at home. You’ve helped me a lot with my home grooming. Good job! Sharon
If I had a small dog that needed grooming I would go to you because you are so gentle with the dogs you groom. I love watching your videos and I don't have a dog.
Thank you for your demonstrations. Very informative. My family just bought a Pomeranian puppy. We're really excited about her. We brush her hair everyday to prevent matting. She's so beautiful. We would like to get another one but the breeder isn't breeding Pomeranian anymore. There are so many websites on Facebook that are scammer, just don't know where we can find another one. Thank you for your videos.
I’m so glad I found this video. I have had and groomed my Poms and always kept them free of mats. I just got a 5 month old puppy and have found his fur to be difficult to care for . Unlike my other Poms any time yiu give him a bath he mats like crazy. I have several of these brushes that I use for when they get really oily fur around the ears but after seeing this I’m using this method and brush to hopefully maje his life go better and for me to take better care of him. Thank you, you have saved my little one so much discomfort and clearly he needs brushing more then my other Pom , I have 2 including him. His grooming will now be a pleasure rather then a horror fir him. Thanks for taking out tinevyo share this important video!❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for making this video! My senior Pom has had such awful experiences in the past with groomers and I’ve been having such a hard time trying to do it myself. This seems like such a more gentle way to approach it. I’ll be purchasing this kind of brush ASAP and fingers crossed it’ll make a difference for my sweet girl.
Oh my goodness! I realize my pup doesn’t have a lot of mattes, just packed in the usual areas you outline. You are fantastic! My Bella is grateful for your teachings ❤
She certainly is a patient little pooch. I only wish I could get my Pomeranian to lie down when I groom him. He has a coat similar to Foxy's but I don't let his undercoat get so packed. I brush and comb him several times a week. He only sees a groomer when I take him in for a bath. You're doing a great job.
You can give your own dog a bath with a hand held shower attachment. I get in the shower with shorts on and the long attachment reaches wherever I need it. Fructise Full and Plush Shampoo keeps his fur clean and smelling good and he's fluffier after I towel him dry. It is never safe for a person to leave their animals with a groomer.
My pom has congestive heart failure so I can't groom him like I used to. He can't get stressed at all. I have to use a regular old comb and brush him out inch by inch. Takes days since he can only take so much. He's worth it.
Hi Suzanne I love your technique and patience in your grooming, your work is so beautiful, and I would love to become a groomer like you. May i ask how much would you charge for a groom like that?
I have a pom her size same coat and it took me a while to realize the undercoat how thick and the need to brush un this way your showing. I need that brush and whatever dryer yiur using. I love my pom he is so sweet and patient as she is.
My pom has the most stunning white coat, but he is very opposed to grooming so I have to do it all myself. I wish I had seen your videos sooner, so I would switch my brushing technique. I finally used a slicker brush like the one you used on that little white pom puppy who hadn't been groomed in a while, to line brush the packed in undercoat and pick out the mats. Well I finally line brushed my 10 month old pom's coat who is now 1 year old, and what a difference! His coat wasn't in the best shape before line brushing him. even though it looked amazing, he had some huge knots and matting, which I didn't know how to properly get out without just carefully cutting them out..ugh (I know better now). His coat seems to be fine I hope. I am not bathing him nearly as much, I am line brushing him more often now with the slicker brush you recommended, which made a big difference thank you!! but it's hard to brush him completely since he fights me on it. He hates the slicker brush which smoothed out his coat nicely, but when I line brushed him the first time ever he was shedding too, so I'm worried I removed too much of the undercoat, since SO much of it came out and I wasn't ripping it out or anything. I'm also hesitant to bathe him, because I haven't gotten all his tangles out and I only have a two in one shampoo and conditioner by Burts Bees.... I also saw your video about grooming a dog like Simba and you recommended not to use a slicker brush, instead use a pin brush so now I'm worried I was using the wrong brush on my pom. So I'll purchase the wooden pin brush. I have a few questions: Which shampoo and conditioner do you recommend? Should I bathe and line brush him thoroughly every 4 weeks with a pin brush only? How often do I line brush him? Should I use a blow dryer or a fan? I did trim his coat a little since it was getting a little out of hand, so will his coat be ok? Will it keep growing even though it's summer time? Thank you so very much Suzanne, God bless you!
I'd pay double to have my baby boy groomed by someone like you every 4 weeks! You do wonderful with that little girl, your read of her feelings is so important! When he was a pup, I had 3 appointments made to get used to the grooming program. When I took him in the second time he freaked out! I'm not sure what happened there but he has been hard to groom ever since! It took me a long while for me to be able to groom him myself! Need more groomers like you.
I adopted a Pomeranian named Manny, he is 9 years old and has a collapsed trachea. Manny had long hair like this as well and it would cause him to wheeze and cough. I had no choice but to trim him down even though I know that it isn't good for his coat. His coat is about 1 and 1/2 to 2 inches long now. He looks like a little teddy bear and it is really cute. Suits him. He's on a med and he has his hair is shorter now, it all seems to be working for him and he is more comfortable. I really love this look and you do great work!
I have one , I find if you brush them once a week , you can keep the under coat down, & it works for me, & I always brush him good before I bath him , it doesn’t tangle , when you brush him after, but I guess some people don’t brush them
I have two Poms. We take them to the groomers every few months like when they need hair cuts, which means we bathe them in between. They hate baths and especially hate combing. I use a long tooth comb, but I comb them regularly so it never gets matted. They love the blow dryer though. Pom fur is a LOT of work.
I know this is a old video but I rescued a Pom that has never been groomed and don’t have a clue where to start ! Learned a lot watching you . I think I have my work cut out for me 😢.
I use the Dental additive from Amazon to put in there water they love it and it keeps there teeth so pretty and white and tarter free it’s blue liquid and the directions says 2 teaspoons per 2cups of water and stir it up good they love that water.
Where can we get these brushes you are using do you sell them or what store can we buy them? Do you recommend using a chunky scissors sheers for really thick areas?
Wow - you don’t need to use a restraint on her…you control her with love💕! I was considering getting my Pom shaved (with the longest setting) which I have never done because I’ve seen a Pom with a ruined coat - not pretty! But changed my mind after watching you! I have been watching Pom grooming videos you are the most conscientious and professional groomer I’ve seen! Love how she watches herself in the mirror - “I’m beautiful!” Wish you lived in Santa Cruz, Ca!
Hello, Does Foxy get brushed every week? Do the owners ever brush her? I'm wondering why she has so much underfur after 8 weeks, looks like she has excessive amounts. You do a great job!
Wow! That was awesome, I learned the proper way to brush my Hudson. I have to keep practicing. Too bad you're not in Ontario, Canada, doesn't say where you are. I would like to find a good groomer for my Pomeranian. I'm brushing him myself. I'm still learning but definitely not a pro. Thank you for this!
Great job she came out beautiful My pom has hypothyroidism and her coat used to be like that but because of the thyroid her fur became very course and patchey so now my groomer just shaves her
Absolutely fantastic video thank you SO much. I have an older Pom who is much less tolerant of brushing since getting arthritis and some lumbar back pain. This video was so informative. You can see how by the end she is taking pride and feeling much more comfortable. Poms do love having a nice coat even if they aren’t thrilled with the process. You are so good at comforting and allowing movement but also using firmer loving touch when in places she doesn’t like. Question: I am in rural Canada and don’t have immediate access to a metal wide-tooth comb (even if I order today it will likely not arrive for a month or so). Is it possible to use the curved longer slicker-type brush to get out that loose hair? Or would it be acceptable to use a human style paddle brush or scalp brush to do that final process? I’m still looking for a groomer out here, but it’s tough to find one that knows how to properly groom a Pom (they will shave down into the undercoat and use caged blow dryers !) Another question: do you think it’s also calming to the Pom to have a gentle fan going during line brushing so they feel that nice sensation of wind on their skin again after the matting and undercoat shed has been removed? Thank you so much again!
This was so helpful! I am going to try to get a grooming appt with you for my 5mo old Pom. Question : I am ready to order the Madan pin brush. I see you recommend the lt blue med-soft brush on your website but that you are using the black medium in this video. Which should I order? My little guy is 2 lbs now, will end up between 3-4 lbs. Thank you!!
This beautiful littlr lady trusts you so much...she knows you will be gentle with her. She is such a sweet dog😍😍 P.S. Perhaps wearing a mask while you brush her..it will keep you from breathing in the dog hair😉
I have 3 small Pomeranians, and my little black one has the most hair I attempt to brush everyday but she hates it. I was told to use a slicker brush and then a comb, but I'm seeing your using the pin brush is this used only after a bath? I brush everyday to prevent matting I'm seeing the pin brush seems easier to begin with. What are your thoughts on using a rake? P.s. that lil pup reminds me of my Princess. Thank you!
It is super sharp on both sides and cuts more like a scissor, I am careful how I pick it up and I do not let it ever get near skin. When you see show cattle 🐄 that look scissored , this is the tool used for that. It is useful for a seasoned professional, not for an amateur.
I have 2 new pomeranian male puppies 4 months old they fight me brushing them . My little one hates it . I bursh them when sleeping lol. Well behaved older pom my last girl didn't like it either
Such beautiful work I want mine to look like that but my Poppy girl doesn’t have that much hair she hasn’t gotten all her adult coat yet but I think Winston had his at birth lol he has a ton of very thick hair alot of soft fine hair feels like down feathers or cat fur very very soft. My son usually dosen’t like dogs in his home but he will let me bring these to see him anytime because they are so well behaved they aren’t wild like his mother n laws half poodle half malty malty Pooh I guess it is but she’s so wild bouncing off of everything he doesn’t like that and he doesn’t enjoy her coming she’s to much she misbehaves so bad. But my Poms are so calm and will just love to lay in your lap and on the couch beside you they are super sweet.
When I brush out my pet Pekingese I end up with and inch of hair resting on everything in my house. Any ideas on keeping the fly away hair better controlled ???? Thanks, Donna in Monroe, North Carolina
Hi Suzanne! If you didnt use a blocker blade would you just use scissors or a C/A just to take the whispy bits off! Also do you shave any of the underneath at all? Lovely groom as always!
I don’t shave the belly unless I have to, as it ruins the underline. I would prefer chunkers if possible if I did not have access to the blocking blade. Straight scissors would be a good option as well.
@@grandestyledoggrooming Thankyou! I am opening a new shop next week feeling very nervous, as it appears that people like to complain about most things today. Fingers x I have lovely customers and well looked after dogs!!!! I really love your videos and the relationship you have with the dog's, keep them coming!!!!
You are an amazing groomer on these Pomeranians you are so gentle and sweet to them your very patient I love that could I find out where you are I have two Poms a boy and a girl Winston and Poppy they are almost two they’ll be 2 next month on the 30th I love your work I can’t find anyone here that knows how to groom my Pom’s correctly I brush and use the comb every other day. Would you tell me where you are so if I’m close enough I could bring my 2 babies to you your amazing you know what your doing most don’t know what they are doing the last groomer left my dog unattended on that little table alone and walked away I didn’t like that, she has video you can watch on line and I saw it. I would love for you to do my Pom’s
They are a lot to take care of if I bath them at home I have hair flying up on my light fixtures and I have to vacuum the whole room after to get all the hair most time I take them to tractor supply and bath them they furnish everything towels and shampoo and conditioner but I like using my own brushes comb and shampoo and conditioners mine is better quality. They are so smart and they are so easy to love and they love giving love they are the most amazing little dogs I can put up with the hair because I love them so much. They don’t get there full adult coat until they are about 3 to 4 years old was what the breeder said. My groomer has 32 Pom’s they all come inside to there own beds at night they are beautiful but not kept very well because of so many. She’s a mechanical engineer with NASA Space station and has just retired but went back to work after being called back I think she’s retiring from raising Pom’s my dogs are show dog blood line and they are gorgeous and my Winston has luxating Petellas and Will need surgery on his legs in the future
Ohh I'm getting my pom on Monday and now I'm not so sure anymore..so much work to groom them, i thought i would be fine if i brush him everyday for 10 minutes
Suzanne, I just rescued a Pomeranian I renamed Loulou. She never answered to her other name anyway because she wasn't really a pet. She was used used to breed puppies. She's a very sweet little girl. She's warming up to me, but I think that taking her to the groomer's may be traumatic for her right now. I have two other little short hair dogs who I she tail tucks and poops a little. She's only done this twice, in the week since I've had her. Anyway, I've bathed her a couple of times using Tropiclean oatmeal shampoo, and then spraying some Nootie leave in conditioner on her. I brush it through. I've also had to clean her bum a couple of times with baby wipes. I trimmed a little around her anus, the first time she tail tucked and pooped, so it wouldn't stick to her fur. It looked like she had a couple of dingleberries. Then she did it again, so I trimmed a little more, thinking I was just getting a little bit of hair out of the way. Well, her front looks beautiful, and her hind end looks like mommie gave her a bad haircut! Another thing that I found out, from watching you, is that when owners bathe the dog, and don't brush them properly, it can cause the inner coat to get matted. I think that's what happened. I have a little cheap Walmart pet brush that I use on her every day. I've been focusing on fluffing out the hair around her butt. I'm going to order a pin brush and slicker brush for her. She's really sweet when I brush her. Yesterday, she even fell asleep when I was brushing her. I hope the hair I clipped will grow back! I did NOT shave her bum, just trimmed what I thought was a little bit of hair out of the way.
I have a 14-year-old Pomeranian and her mouth is really bad she tries to drink and eat and she jumps back and I think it's cuz she's in pain and I don't think she's able to be put to sleep so that she could get her dental work done I don't know if she'll wake up cuz she's so old. I used to brush her teeth and everything and they just kept getting worse I put peroxide and doggy toothpaste and then I just got out of the habit Life just took over and I hadn't got another dog to keep her company and my other dog passed away at 7 and 1/2 just 2 months ago from a rabies vaccine He killed her in 3 weeks I was so devastated and I still am and now she's very lonely she misses her too 😢 she will not let me touch her claws I can't cut her claws I have to bring her to the groomer and when I get her back they didn't even take the time to trim all the fur around her paws they didn't and her paws her closet look like they're freaking chopped I tried going to a different place and they did a really bad job they hacked her like her hair was so short You could see some of the skin so I'm sure they ruined the top layer and this is a groomer. I don't know what to do I got she's in pain I'm sure and she can't like get up the stairs cuz she's slipping on her clothes so know what to do I've got the nail cutters she won't let me touch her right when I touch her pot at all anytime she she yelps and she pulls it back and I think she had a bad experience at one of the groomers. She hates her belly brushed It's very difficult but since I shaved her and kept her hair down and started brushing her more she's getting used to it but man I might have to hold her have somebody hold her like she's like her mommy's picking her up by the neck and get her off of the her feet just to get her clothes done any suggestions?
1. Don't assume that she can't have her teeth done. If the vet says yes, do it. If she can't be put under anesthesia, talk to the vet about options like antibiotic pulse therapy. I would not allow my dog to live with dental pain. 2. Foot trimming is never included with a nail trim. 3. Since you had her shaved, you cannot blame the groomer for ruining the coat. 4. Brush and comb at least weekly to keep her coat in good shape. 5. Have the vet do her nails when they look at her teeth. This link has tools links and more brushing information.
@@grandestyledoggrooming I usually do her hair now and trim her because the groomer cut it too low with a Pomeranian you got to leave a certain amount of hair on her and that's what started her hair to be messed up in the coat not to grow back properly. And I paid the groomer 60 bucks she was supposed to do everything suppress her glands trim her hair by her feet and do her claws and she did a lousy job you know I had to go over it and trim her ears and stuff like that that the groomer didn't do and I don't believe she even suppress her glands because she was rubbing her butt on the ground again lake shortly after and usually she's good after they do the glands. I don't know I didn't read over my whole message there's a lot there it was a long book I'm sorry. I know how to take care of my dog I've had her for 12 years and I always brought her the groomers and I bought my own cutter for her and I do the best I can but I don't cut it as short and I didn't have her shaved I had her cut I had her trimmed but they went way too low. They won't do anesthesia because of her age. And no vets are accepting any new clients. I give her medicine for her mouth I give her tincture I make it myself.
That baby is definitely neglected I don't care if you have kids or not if they don't have time to brush their dog they need to get rid of it and find a better home
She is so precious, I got my first Pom 2 years ago and she’s my dream dog! I waited my whole life to have a Pom and they really are all that!

I LOVE how gentle Suzanne is with Foxy. 🥰
You do such a fabulous job with grooming, and you are also so sweet, wonderful and caring with the dogs!!!!
Your voice is so soothing... no wonder the doggos love you
Hi Suzanne I love your technique and patience in your grooming, your work is so beautiful, and I would love to become a groomer like you. May i ask how much would you charge for a groom like that?
$65
Thank you so much 💓

I used the Artero HIT clipper and the Shernbao Wall Mount dryer
Thanks!

Foxy used to be that way. When she came to me the first time she screamed if I brushed anywhere near her neck. It took years to build trust with her.

You are one of the best Pom groomers I’ve ever seen I only wish I could bring my Pom to you when I get him
I use the Dental additive from Amazon to put in there water they love it and it keeps there teeth so pretty and white and tarter free it’s blue liquid and the directions says 2 teaspoons per 2cups of water and stir it up good they love that water.
Don’t shave your baby! Their coat is their sunscreen and their heat management tool ❤️
Hello, Does Foxy get brushed every week? Do the owners ever brush her? I'm wondering why she has so much underfur after 8 weeks, looks like she has excessive amounts. You do a great job!
Not usually. The coat is packed in, and it should not be.
Great job she came out beautiful
My pom has hypothyroidism and her coat used to be like that but because of the thyroid her fur became very course and patchey so now my groomer just shaves her
and that is the reason why i brush my pomeranian every 2 day
Aww I love how she looks at herself in the mirror at 49:55 ❤😊
Hello there,
My 4 months old pomeranian always bite me every time I tried to brush his coat.
Cam you give me a trick, please
Beautiful job
Thank you! 😊
I’m still looking for a groomer out here, but it’s tough to find one that knows how to properly groom a Pom (they will shave down into the undercoat and use caged blow dryers !)
Another question: do you think it’s also calming to the Pom to have a gentle fan going during line brushing so they feel that nice sensation of wind on their skin again after the matting and undercoat shed has been removed?
Thank you so much again!
Yes, a fan during the line brushing is a good idea. The wide tooth comb is best with a light picking action over the top of the coat.
Soo peaceful!
She looks beautiful
Great video!!! Thank you. What do you recommend for fleas?
Vets change products so often, it’s hard to keep up. I go with the best prescription of the month
Could I use a blending blade for the shaping of the coat at the end?
Yes
This was so helpful! I am going to try to get a grooming appt with you for my 5mo old Pom. Question : I am ready to order the Madan pin brush. I see you recommend the lt blue med-soft brush on your website but that you are using the black medium in this video. Which should I order? My little guy is 2 lbs now, will end up between 3-4 lbs. Thank you!!
Both are great. I personally use Madan purchased through laineeltd.com
Hi Suzanne I am not able to find the madan pin brush anywhere can you tell me where I can order one please ? I live in uk thank you
I don’t know if laineeltd.com ships to the U.K.
does the hair drier hurt their ears at all?
Thanks for the info I have a pom puppy I am learning more about them cleaning and grooming and feeding them I need more info please let me know 😊✌️💓
Iam interested on grooming my Coton De Tutear 4month old
Thank you
See my Coton videos :)
This beautiful littlr lady trusts you so much...she knows you will be gentle with her.
She is such a sweet dog😍😍
Thank you!
I always use the pin brush, they hate the rakes.
What do you mean with a blocking Blade? Sorry, I‘m from germany... i know blades like a 10 or a 7f. But blocking blades i never heard before.
www.sullivansupply.com/product/andis-super-blocking-blade/
It is super sharp on both sides and cuts more like a scissor, I am careful how I pick it up and I do not let it ever get near skin. When you see show cattle 🐄 that look scissored , this is the tool used for that. It is useful for a seasoned professional, not for an amateur.
Thank you very much! 😃👍🏻
You are amazing
This is a great video on brushing. Why only 867 likes out of 75k views?
I like that you call him pants too❤
I have 2 new pomeranian male puppies 4 months old they fight me brushing them . My little one hates it . I bursh them when sleeping lol. Well behaved older pom my last girl didn't like it either
je savoir combien de temps pour la semaine farouchement
j'ai fait accloupler mais pome cardigan sa fait 1mois elle vas
Interesting.
Thanks,
Donna in Monroe, North Carolina
Sadly, no.
@@grandestyledoggrooming Hi Suzanne, What is a "chunker"? I have a pomeranian and wonder if having such a tool would help me groom him at home.
What a cute dog.
Great !
the lady bob ross of grooming that the world has always needed but didn't know
You are an amazing groomer on these Pomeranians you are so gentle and sweet to them your very patient I love that could I find out where you are I have two Poms a boy and a girl Winston and Poppy they are almost two they’ll be 2 next month on the 30th I love your work I can’t find anyone here that knows how to groom my Pom’s correctly I brush and use the comb every other day.
Such a good Doggie.
I brush and comb my Pom everyday. You have to keep up with them so they don’t get matting.
Exactly, but you have to be careful not to overdo it. As too much combing can actually damage coat like clipping.
This is beautiful
Such a sweet girl. The Pomeranian is sweet too.
What a life. Imagine this rat has but to just eat poop and savour the relaxation of fur maintenance. That's livin...
Nice video .
So Cute 😍 💓 💗 💕 💖 ☺
Do you ever just clip the pomeranian and then scissor it?
Occasionally, but it may ruin the coat
She is too cute
I think its a mix shitzu pomeranian
No, it's a Pomeranian.
Ohh I'm getting my pom on Monday and now I'm not so sure anymore..so much work to groom them, i thought i would be fine if i brush him everyday for 10 minutes
I would be kissing that little doggie face💕
🙏🙏💋❤️🦋😘
mucha crueldad .

ESTA MUJER HA TRATADO A LA POMERANIA CON MUCHA CRUELDAD, LE HA TIRADO EL,PELITO HASTA QUE SE HA CANSADO. ESTO NO DEBE SUCEDER.
