It's absolutely nuts how much more "Pokemon" Dirtquatro looks just by coloring in the outline!

Dirtquatro The muddy bird fakemon:
Dirtquatro usually have battles against challenging opponents it is
a really poor flyer, it cannot battle flying Enemies however it’s digging
skills are super good and it can catch any challenger who can dig
this makes Dirtquatro extremely powerful and that is why it’s
classified as a legendary.

This tutorial was great! I learnt a lot of new things, and you explained your process really well! I did a bit of haphazard spriting when I was much younger (around 10 or 11 XD) and seeing your amazing quality sprites and Fakemon designs in Pokemon Uranium has been really inspiring (and nostalgic) for me! I've been thinking of remaking a few sprites just for old times' sake, and I'm looking forward to putting your tips into action. I've never heard of graphicscale before but I think I'll give it a go! @@oripoke4396 Aw, you're very welcome! ^D^ I think I might post them on my DeviantArt account, though sadly most of the designs I want to remake are stored on a computer I don't have access to right now. XD. So I don't know if or when they'll be up. But I think I do want to work on them within the next week. :)
This is an awesome tutorial! I personally want to create RBY and GSC sprites. But this video was helpful regardless. I hope to see more from you in the future.

This is a great video, I’ve been wanting to get into spriting and pixel art so I’m so glad I saw this! Have you considered making a video about your fakemon design philosophy? You mentioned it earlier on in the vid and I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on it :)

I've had a very small interest in making pixel art and this was a great video, both as a tutorial and as entertainment. Videos on back sprites and/or mini sprites would be fantastic (if you want to, of course)!

I'm not new to pokemon styled pixel art, but I still found this very useful!! Like the tip about keeping a canon sprite on canvas/in view is such a useful tip i feel silly i never thought of it! (also that birb sprite is so good, I love the muddy-wing texture and the colors

U dont know if you are still around but there is a really cool game called Pokemon Fusion where you fuse pokemons in Kanto+Jotho, the community makes thousands of sprites for the game, would be cool if you made a video on it!

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I've been loving Pokemon sprite work for years, however most of my work is fusions, retypes, revamps etc with only little bits of scratch work here and there. Now I'm excited for try again! I've always just used MS paint haha

do u use only 1 layer? is there a reason u do that instead of having different layers for colors and shades and lines etc?
For pixel art, I don't think that is really necessary since you're working on such a small scale and it's easier to correct mistakes if they're all on one layer. I do use multiple layers (lineart + color + shading + highlights, at minimum) on larger scale artwork though.

I'm sorry, I know the video is about pixelart rather than the character in it, and it's not your fault, but I really wanna go on a tangent about this. I was gonna comment on how "quatro" is more of a Portuguese 4 rather than "cuatro" which would fit more with the Spanish numbers uno, dos, and tres present in the birds' names. But then I decided to look it up on wiktionary and besides quatro being 4 in portuguese and a few niche languages, quatro is also a now-obsolete spelling of cuatro, which means spanish did use quatro at some point in the past, so I guess it doesn't matter

Practice, practice!! :p Jokes aside, you can do it the same that I used to do when I was still learning: make edits or combinations of official Pokémon sprites. You can use the lasso tool to select specific parts, and the color replacer to change around colors until you’ve made your very own composite creature! Just make sure to be honest about if your sprites are based on edits when sharing your work with others and online. Stealing other people’s work is a bad idea.
