Bought similar server but with 24 drive SFF bays (2.5") . Using as VM server and NAS . So far so good. Quick tip, if interested in 10GB SFP+ for these units the MLOM versions are going for dirt cheap on eBay at the moment.

Hey MB. I know this video is a year old, but I just bought a SFF version of this server and I'm having some issues finding PCIe risers for it. I'll preface by saying that I'm very new to all of this. I've read through the documentation multiple times. Riser 1 has three options: A, B, and C. Since I need two risers that are GPU-capable, I would need option A for Riser 1, since no other option for Riser 1 is capable. There is only one option for Riser 2, and it is GPU-capable. The issue is that I can't find anyone selling Riser 1A online without calling someone for a quote. Riser 1B is what I have, and seems to be what most people get with their machines. Riser 2 is also pretty abundant, so I could purchase it online. My question is this: Might it be possible to buy two of Riser 2 and install them in both slots? I mean... in theory they're both just normal risers, right? I'm worried that something could go wrong or just not work here.

Hey, 2 years later, how's this thing going? I have an opportunity to get 1 of these.

Does it come with PCIe power connectors to install a GPU?

I bought this exact same server because I found a great deal. The one I purchased came with 256 GB RAM and 7x Intel 1.6TB SSD DC S3510 SATA and 1x 800GB SAS SSD, 2x Xeon E5-2690 v4 2.60 GHz, 2x PSU...My objective is to setup a backup storage for my files that I can access from anywhere. Although I have a pretty capable hardware, I do not possess the knowhow on how to achieve my goal. I will appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction to some sort of guide that would help me set this up and achieve my goal. Thanks!

Weighing in on buying this item: Cisco BE7K M 1x E5-2680v3, 64GB DDR4, 12x 300GB SAS, UCSC-C240-M4S2. I have UCS 220, but I could not access its CIMC any longer like what you said. I was wondering if I can move the RAM of UCS 220 to UCS 240. Any thought?

Can you give some information about the noise level? I'm thinking of running it in an apartment. Would it be a wrong choice?

Does this server take DDR4 ram or DDR3? I almost want to say it takes DDR4 because of how new it is.

      M4s should be DDR4.
