I was just playing the first Out Run on a real c64 a few weeks ago. While I played it a LOT back in the days I never managed to finish even that (short) game, though it wasn't difficult to get near the end of the last stage. If you check the tool-assisted longplay of the first OR by Monty, there was about three times as much time left at the end of the game. I seriously doubt nobody has ever beat this game without savestates or trainer so I guess there wasn't any need to make an ending ;-)
No ending? That sucks! Makes you feel like you have battled all the way through the game for nothing... still a cool game, though! Used to love this back in the day (but never ever beat it).
All that driving and heartache just to loop back to the title screen? Seriously what were some developers thinking? Argh!! Still a cool game but talk about anticlimax!

Nice! You rule at this game :)
Maybe you didn't notice, but ending was before the last level :D Original, indeed ;)
