Absolutely beautiful video. I lived in Encinitas over 10 years ago. I also did a Baja trip to Ensenada. It was fantastic. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face.
Ahhh thank you for this! This made our day :) Baja was our favorite escape and we loved adventuring south of the border. We lived in Cardiff for 12 years but are now back on the East Coast. Thanks again for watching!!
We are between PA and NC, trying to head to Portugal on a working visa but things are moving SLOW and it's a painful process! Trying to make the most of where we are ;)
Just googled scorpion bay vids to check recent sand conditions at second point and who is it but mr mcmahon that pops up in the video! Hi from Annie, Christian, Areyna, Rokzen and Wilda. Hope you guys are well!
Second point must be sweet with waves like that. We were there back in January and it was too small. Maybe see three knee high waves in a day. I was so bummed, but you could see the potential. Maybe next year (stuck in Canada this year).
@@vitaminseaseesi7338 Went twice this year - once in December 2021 and once in March 2022. Still no luck with the swell, but had some waves out at the river mouth and down in Cerritos we had some big waves. Maybe too big for this guy =) I'm going to go every chance I get. Baja California is a magical place.
I love that place! Did a trip there with my sister and her boyfriend years ago. So pretty down there. Crazy how the beach has changed. Last time I was there it was covered in sand even at low tide. Have they been taking sand off shore to build construction in that area?
It's really special, isn't it!? The locals have talked about how the storms over the years have moved sand away from the beaches too. They aren't dredging it up, just natural erosion. It has definitely affected the surf breaks and takes a bigger swell now to get all the points working, but it's still an amazing place!
I took a trip to Cabo San Lucas Resort spent $7'000.00 overpriced overwhelmed, didn't even have a good time, it's over populated, bad food, bad service, I wish I could do these trips, You guy's probably didn't even spend half of what I paid and you guys had a BLAST... Thanks for the video and the lesson.
Ah sorry to hear you didn’t have a great experience in Cabo! Those resorts can definitely rack up a bill and not deliver on the experience 😞 Would highly recommend a Baja road trip if you can swing it 🙌🏼 Nothing like it in the world and as you said, definitely save money traveling this way! Thanks for watching 😊🙏🏼
As far as right points go when scorpions on I mean really on from almost fourth point kicking out at the flat Rock at first point second to none .Never even seen Jeffries that good surf to swell there in 88 and 89 absolutely bombing all the way across had to get a pickup to drive us back up to third point tube-o-rama that was back when you had the hardcore camping a tent with rattlesnakes and scorpions no camping grounds no restaurants no b******* surf camps no surfline forecast you just went and stayed for 6 weeks until you got a big swell and you didn't leave
Sorry for the delay! Thanks for watching! :) We didn't have any issues at all. We drove through the MexiCali border both ways since at the time, Tijuana & Ensenada were on strict lockdown and we had heard stories of people getting turned away wtihout a local residency card. MexiCali was very quiet and we just drove through the typical Military checkpoints like usual. We wore masks at every checkpoint & inside stores/restaurants to show respect and keep everyone safe. I think if you do the same you'd be fine, especially now that Baja is lessening it's restrictions more and more!
Baja California is awesome!!
The best!!
Fond memories of Scorpion Bay. I was there in 80, 81, and 82.
I bet that was so epic! Thanks for watching 😎
Fantastic video! Brings back a lot of memories. Haven’t been since ‘86!
Thanks so much! I bet it was such an adventure being there in ‘86!

Encinitas: Once frozen in time, now, not so sure🤔
Stayed there twice in the 90’s total of 4 weeks SB time. It was sweet.
Sounds pretty dreamy 🙌🏼
Nice video, I love overlanding in Baja
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it :) There’s nothing better than Baja!

Gotta really time it right ie. when Tahiti is going off, pack your bags
Scorps takes a 180° swell.
Thanks. Reminds me of my own trip there a few years ago. Can’t wait to get back. Any COVID problems crossing borders?

So awesome! We drove down last June (2020) :) Have a great time!
Nice vid….
Thank you!
The real name is not scorpion bay is San Juanico
Yes you are correct 🤓
Imagine driving that far for sleeping in dirt and surfing 1 footers? Clowns.
Imagine taking the time to leave a comment like that 👆🏼 on someone’s video. Clown 🤡
