  • Join 3Elements as they film their first overland expedition | surf adventure | down to Baja Punta Cabras. At first thought, why is 3Elements sharing the location when it's a rule of this channel to keep locations secret? Well it's dangerous (multiple locals informed us it's a heavy Cartel area and being robbed at gunpoint is not a farfetched possibility in this locale and....the surf honestly wasn't that good. The good shots at the end.....yeah we won't share where that was. Regardless, back to the description of this epic Baja Overland Expedition:
Ever notice how surf music and old western songs seem to be born from one and the same? Probably not. But think about it for a second. The sprawling western deserts, the empty vistas. The explorers riding off into the sunset. Travel west and test or find yourself. And in North America, generations have followed that long journey west and where does it take them, to the sea. The ultimate frontier, the last long open unexplored expedition space.
Who then took up this torch and continued travelling west? The continent ended but that didn't stop their march. Sailors, overlanders, surfers, and divers. Taking on that last frontier.
Maybe this is why every surfer thinks of themself an explorer. And hell, I’m sure a lot of explorers would have been surfers. It's why we love to combine overland expedition travel with surf adventure.
Now modern day Southern California. Covered in freeways and shopping malls. Waves packed, spots overfished. Where can the thrill seekers, adventurers, explorers, overlanders and risktakers go now?
Baja. That’s right. Baja. The kind of adventure and expedition that 3Elements seeks out. A thin, undeveloped, 700 mile strip of coastline extending off of Mexico begging to be explored. The land is rugged, and untouched. This land is an empty canvas. Where only pockets of places like these exist state side, come follow along as 3 elements performs and overland expedition to one of the last frontiers that truly is, a frontier to find an uncrowded surf adventure.

I first drove in there in 1968. I'm glad to see it still relatively undeveloped still. Nice production with easy on the ears music.

Man, it must have REALLY been the Wild West back then. Even SoCal was still an open playground. What a great experience to have explored back then. Glad this provided some nostalgia.

Another great adventure, long awaited. Fortunately, I'm in my air conditioned house and not in that rental car line in Las Vegas! Baja is fantastic. Thanks for showcasing it with this episode.

Thanks Randy, it's nice to know that you are enjoying these! Currently filming another surf flick in the Pacific followed by a climbing film in a few weeks. Any comments or suggestions on things you'd like to see incorporated?

@@3Elements I just shared your video on facebook, and here's what I said in the text... That what you feature are things that I've done or places that I've gone, or similar of that, or things that I'd like to have done! So you are somehow tapped into what I look for in these outdoor adventures. So I have no suggestions. I just enjoy it as it's created.

Awesome. That would be the reason why I started making these. Not trying to vlog but just make fun documentary style videos that either remind people of past trips or get them excited for the next.

2 years ago I had friends camping there in early spring. In the middle of the night they were robbed. They started banging on the RV ordering them out. They shot into their RV after they wouldn’t open the door. The bullet hole is still in the door and table. Missing one of them by a couple feet. They threw out some money and they left to rob another couple a100 yards from them. The police took over 12 hrs to show up and were no help. That area is very dangerous.

Crazy, yeah I read a Facebook post about them when I was deciding where to try and camp or if we should just stay at Coyote Cal’s.

@@3Elements Going down in a couple days, trying to decide whether to camp on the point. Do you think things have cooled down safety wise, or are just continuing to get worse?

I think it's been getting worse but I'd ask some other places. I haven't had Mexico on my radar in awhile. Not due to safety but just lack of time being a Dad.@@sapoji

Further north by an old white tower. I forget the name but it’s essentially at the north end of the bay. This whole area is pretty cartel-ey now so be safe if you travel there!
