I found this video recently and went to Home Depot and then to Lowes to get the "ceiling stripping." No one had ever heard of it, and they couldn't find it in their system. Fortunately, a lady at Lowes led me to what may be what they are calling this now. It is listed in Lowes as tile board divider and comes in 8-foot lengths for $4 each. The end pieces, I think, rang up as $5 each. This is as of June 20, 2023. The actual Lowes item number is 11934 for the "PVC TLBRD DIVIDER WHT 8-FT" I bought, and the end piece was Lowes item number 11933 for the "PVC TLBRD END CAP WHT 8-FT" that I bought. I haven't done the project yet, but the design is similar to what he has in the video. I couldn't find the "No More Nails" tape either, but Gorilla tape has several double-sided tape options and I bought one of those. The Plano 5324 fixed, 24 compartment boxes he uses are available on Amazon, on sale for $8 each as I type this. I couldn't find them in stores anywhere yesterday. They also make adjustable compartment boxes, but I don't know how similar they are to the fixed ones he's using. I hope this information I gathered in my search yesterday helps people new to this video and these type of projects.

Lowes no longer carries this item. Home Depot has a similar item: 1/4 in. x 1-3/8 in. x 96 in. White PVC FRP/Tile Divider Moulding

Yes I see many collectors now here on TH-cam with similar display set ups, it's great to see the revolution of cost-effective methods in getting the cars out of the boxes and onto the walls! Thank you and thanks to everyone else for making this hobby a great one full of shared ideas and input.

Thank you so much from Australia. Just finished about 3 thousand cars on the walls. I used screws instead of tape (a lot cheaper). The collection can now be seen instead of being cooped up in boxes for years. Cheers again mate.

I am quickly running out of room on my walls using the pushpin method. I will have to get over the fact that all the card won't be displayed, but this is going to save a ton of space and looks great. Thanks for the how-to.
P.S. That is an insane collection! I have decided to just get Mustangs, so I don't have to add-on too my house.

    • @thegreenlaser215

For new people reading this, you can set the bottom of the plastic bubble on the lower card's top edge and only obscure the card below the bubble. The main card is still displayed, but, of course, you don't save much space but you do lose the need for pins. I have my few Supers displayed like this in one of the rows.

    "Thats what she said" LOL
    Wackity Smackity DooOOO
Awesome ideas, I believe the pieces you're using to mount the cards are FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) butt connectors. You'll see it used in kitchens at fast food places and restaurants etc as the walls due to it being easy to clean.
I'm in the process of hanging mine up as well. I bought 1''x'2''x8' boards and will space them out to be able to display the entire card. Your idea is ingenious, though and I may take advantage of it on more common ones i have in numbers. Especially when you've got as many as you do and become spatially challenged.

Just to clear this up, this is not "ceiling strap" as it is called. What he is using is actually in the panelling section usually and it is used on FRP Panelling. The one is a butt connector for joining 2 pieces of panelling to somewhat hide the seam and the other is to finish off the edge.

For those interested you can also buy a frame cork board or something similar and you can buy those strips in Black and you can put them on a 4 x 4 display. The only reason I say this because I purchased some Hot Wheels and they were in the display and it was in a frame type Square with the same strips in it just saying this because some folks might not want to mess up their walls and you can display them that way. Hopefully that came out right and everyone understands it. It's a great way to display a group of cars also for certain collectors. Thanks I hope that helped someone. @ wtffor

Only works if you have a big wall area. For small places, get hold of old wine boxes and create a shelving system. For packaged cars, simply bang nails into doors or use thumbtacks for less hard surfaces.

Similar to some of the other comments, I didn't find anything called 'ceiling strapping', but, Lowes has these, their price tag calls it tile moulding, and their website calls it wall panel moulding - it appears to be moulding for fiberglass reinforced wall paneling (FRP wall panels) for showers and tubs, made by a company called Crane Composites.
Search the Lowe's site for "Sequentia" - they had them in 8 ft strips, white and almond, I printed the page off Lowe's site to show someone there.

Hello fellow collector, I feel your pain on not being able to acquire the Plano cases even after 2 years of trying to find them. I don't know what I would do without mine, I have become so reliant on the cases for my collection. If you would like I would be willing to buy you them and mail them to you by the case, since I can get them in quantities of 6 already boxed from the factory. One box would include 6 Plano cases inside. Depending on where you live, shipping could be in the $30 to $40

Couldn't find any No-Nails Tape at Lowes, but they had some 3M double-sided outdoor tape, said it holds 20lbs (the other 3M tapes were 5 lb.), gave it a shot and seems to hold well (so far - hopefully they won't be on the floor in the morning!). I cleaned the strips with brake parts cleaner to de-grease them and help the tape to have a clean surface to stick to, and then used a flat-bladed screwdriver to press on the strips where I put tape pieces to ensure max. adhesion, after first...

On the level, when you’re measuring horizontally, it’s called level. When measuring vertically, it’s called plumb. So u want your strips to be plumb.

Just found your video I built one similar about five years ago, but it on a board (3'x4'), because I was renting and didn't want to ruin the walls.

Every Walmart has them with the fishing gear. I've purchased them in every store I've been in. They carry various types with either fixed dividers like yours, Or with re locate able plastic dividers. I actually prefer those, because I always have a few stray pieces that won't fit in the fixed dividers. $5.46.

WOW! that's one of the most biggest hot wheels cars collection that i've seen. i wonder hot much you paid for all of them.

  • @cynan1019
    @cynan1019 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm not hot on the idea of sticking it directly to the wall. makes it kind of hard if you need to move. I like the idea of painting a 4 x 8 (or 4 x 4 for more portability) sheet of Luan and mounting it with screws. small screw holes will be much easier to patch come moving time.
