    Thank you for the video, you had directed me to it. I find if I do your exercises especially the muscle in my mouth between the jaw does help reduce my TMJ discomfort, and my neck eases up a bit. Just hoping the general discomfort will go away over time and continued exercises.

    After watching this video I am sure my cervicobrachial neuralgia was triggered by my clenching jaw at night (it's been ongoing at night for the past 8 years now).. The day before I got this condition I actually saw a chiro for my posture and she gave me exercises for my traps.. but maybe exercises that were too hard for me. The next day I was in so much pain. I did a scan and sure enough no hernia but C6 and C7 disks were slightly protruding and probably inflamed a few nerves.. After 2 months it has finally gone away but I'm really scared of consulting a chiro again after all that. I know they only way my neck problems will go away is if I treat my TMJ and stress.. it's just so frustrating as lots of practitioners just dismiss the pain and say nothing is linked and don't end up helping. A never ending story. Anyway I'm so glad so have stumbled upon this channel and discovered such a community! It makes me feel less alone! Thank you so much Dr Priya! Maybe one day I'll come for a consultation although I live in Illinois haha

Turns out my neck problem areas matched all the muscles you pointed out that are directly correlated to the jaw. Im so glad i found your videos and am going to binge watch your other videos now! Behind my ear, all the way down to my collarbone is right & painful. Sometimes I can’t touch my ear, back of my head at the base of my neck is painful to the touch. My gland at the back of my head & side of my neck are swollen. I’ve had it for awhile cause I clench my teeth at night but I’m experiencing a bad flare up due to anxiety 😥

    The main question is : does the cervical problem cause tmj pain or tmj cause cervical problem. How can we know. Because in other videos you talk about TMJ, but if the problem is the neck, we should treat the neck, to resolve the stiffness in the TMJ.

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question and the answer is that it varies from person to person. For some people it’s an imbalanced bite that feeds down and impacts the neck. For others it’s neck injury that feeds up and affects the jaw.

    What do you think comes first usually? A misaligned jaw (already had this as a child) or the cervical spine? I have EDS, was recently diagnosed and have major problems with both. Fun fact: I had a hip operation as a baby and a twisted hip/pelvis misalignment... I guess that is the issue of both. Will I have a chance to get better although I can't change my pelvis bones? I think my atlas might be in some trouble from playing loads of guitar and rotating my head constantly to look at my fretting hand. When I move my jaw horizontally it clicks on the right side, also when i rotate my head left and back to central i have had a persistent click (both when moving left, and when moving back again) for two years now. My scm, especially at the top, holds a lot of tension, which i can release by massage but it returns almost right away.
    Is there anything I can do without a chiropractor or is that the only solution?

My posture is also not fine because I've been sitting a lot infront of a computer. I have back pain mostly in the shoulder blade area and the neck though on the left side of my body . My question is are the left muscles of the back and neck connected to the right side of the jaw or they've just become stronger and that's why my right side of the face is numb every morning and I clench my teeth mostly using the muscles on the right side of my face?

    I have a constant headache on one right side of the head/face, including pain in the ear, back of the head, also it is often accompanied by a "burning feeling", which is constant and very uncomfortable. I've done botox for tmj, mouth guard, pills, but nothing seems to work. Also the annoying syndrome is the sound in my ear when I move my head/neck, it sounds like a membrane of a drum, I discovered that this sound is "generarated" by the SCM musscle in my neck, when I squeez the SCM musscle in my neck with my fingers it makes that sound in the ear. I told that to many doctors, but none of them seems to care about. Any ideas on whan I should do next, I also tried physiotherapy but it didn't help too much. Maybe I should do some examination or excercises on my SCM muscle, I have no idea why it is causing that pop in my ear and it's frustrating.

    great video! I was waiting for you to talk about point #3 - can TMJ lead to neck pain... I don't think you delved into it in the video. I clench my jaw so hard at night, and have terrible occipital tension leading to all kinds of neuralgia. I'm thinking the root cause is the clenching. Do you have any other videos that address this? thanks!

    Can stress/anxiety cause this, which can lead to Eustachian tube dysfunction? And can a upper cervical chiropractor treat this?

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not sure if a chiropractor can help with Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. Sorry. Stress can increase clenching and grinding which can make the muscles surrounding the Eustachian tube inflamed which may lead to stuffy/congested ears.

    Hi Dr.
    I have tmj and currently im wearing braces but from 2 months im suffering from neck pain and hearing sounds near occipital lobes area very frequently and they are really huge even if i rotate my head little. Can the root cause be because of tmj? I told my doctor but he said to do stretches but they are not helping me.

    Absolutely love the informitive videos! I have a couple question. Does a DDS get a certification for TMJ or is their other way to tell the qualifications of the person who is treating TMJ? Is the jaw clicking associated with the pain or is it separate but just bothersome. Trying to say: can the pain go away and clicking remain or the other way around? Just great videos, thanks for being there for me!

    • @theTMJdoc

      No there's not a certification for treating TMJ problems. The jaw clicking can be associated with the pain.
