If you lock the brakes you not actually using the brakes to stop the car, only scraping the tyres. So the test is completely wrong and the conclusions are falses. To test brake efficiency you should NOT lock the brakes.
Locking the tyres does not test the braking performance in any way, all it does is tests the tyre friction between it and the road. ABS should be used instead, which will accurately test the braking performance and not the road-type friction coefficient.
Note: with changing the air temperature, surface temperature of the road will vary as well. So it's not only hot brakes vs cold brakes but hot brakes on hot road vs cold brakes on cold road
what i understood, hot brakes are better for stopping but it wears the pads more, while cold stops later it is better for durability, correct me if im wrong
@@pullshow.. yeah, but if you overheat your brakes you almost can't brake at all, lockup is usualy better than almost no breaks. Because if your brakes overheat the liquid in your braking system boils.
@@Theredtail95 It's supposed to test the difference related to brake temperature. Slamming the brake so hard it locks wheels up is inaccurate. You need traction to brake well using the discs/drums to dissipate kinetic energy, but if you lock up the wheels you use the friction between the tires and the ground, which is not as effective and the brake temperature doesn't really matter once you manage to lock the wheels
@@ranpatoamami7048 in addition to that, if they used the smow-mo function they could have gotten a more consistent start to the brakes. (also the 0℃ drums were at 40℃)

the cars with drum brakes we're braked later used the brakes much later then the cars with disk and old car doesn't have abs so not fair bcs no abs and later braking

one car has abs other car dount have abs. and there is a weight diferenc, so test is not acurate
@@Chevlon no, he's absolutely right.
Shouldve used a d series right cuz its the same vehicle and it has disc and drum brakes

Not to mention tyre temps. This video is just plain useless and not a proper comparison
As well as an assistant in braking(ABS), he worked on disc brakes, but he didn’t work on drum brakes

Very good videos
Somebody’s gonna ask “why is it -273? Make it equal? Make it -999 degrees!” Either forgetting absolute zero or a Fahrenheit user.
273 isn't even a whole number in F. -459.4F

I'm not an expert, but what I know from watching race cars, if your brakes are too hot your braking is very very slow
@@michalpavlov6918 lol but cold brakes easily lock up

Wrong, Hot brakes will not stop your car. The brake fluid boils.
make another video when all the cars have ABS

This test was so inaccurate
It’s testing video game physics for stopping distance.

Its just braking test in HOT WEATHER VS COLD WEATHER.
Bro drum brakes have no abs not fair
the abs icon is gray witch means its turned off

it is not hot brakes or cold brakes it's hot or cold engine .
