When I upload it to TH-cam and watch the video on my pc everything is fine. However when I watch that same video on any other device UT is out of sync and I don't undertand why. I follow youtubes formating requirements and still have this issue. Does anyone know why this happens. I'm so frustrated
I think I randomly just may have come across a possible answer for why this sync issue occurs while researching another question. (*Disclaimer: I'm no pro at all, I'm just fumbling my way through learning, to reach "average," Haha!). It was watching a video by Potato Jet directly after watching yours that made me go, "Hmmm" 🤔Might it have something to do with the industry frame rates? The standard here in the US is NTSC, but something to do with the history of technology producing a frame rate of 23.976 instead of 24 fps or 29.97 for 30 fps. This is a difference loss of 1%. This made me think of your issue... Maybe this is it, or maybe not; I just thought I'd mention it. This is how I learn (from all you more intelligent guys who've already "been there, & done that). So thought I would maybe return my thanks by sharing the information I found... Thank you for your video! Video formats are either in Variable Frame rate or Fixed frame rate. Software like shadowplay will record in variable frame rate, which Davinci resolve doesn't understand. From my understanding Adobe struggles too, but I've not 100% confirmed. You can use Handbrake to convert these video formats to fixed to get around it. Or record using software that doesn't record in variable frame rate
This is great - but - what do I do if the source clip I'm using has a frame rate with a decimal? (VHS capture with frame rate of 29.89 frames/second, lmao) Resolve won't let me enter a "." *crying and sobbing*
If someone is still with this issue and the video didn't help you, maybe you have the same problem i had. I was loading multiple clips to Davinci so i could cut them and edit them into one video, problem was, i was loading videos with diferent framerates, and for some reason, Davinci does not like that, i had to close the program, open the video i was having issues with it, and right off the start Davinci asks to change the project framerate, and the problem was fixed.
Yeah, this fixed it for me! Davinci asks to change the project framerate. I clicked on change, and I changed the resolution in the export tab when I finished editing my video.

Hi Jeremy, I ran into similar issues when importing iPhone footage, and downloaded a program called Handbrake (totally free) & it has many presets & features to sync footage with audio. Thank you for your video also.
I've also run it through Handbrake to make it a CFR and it's STILL happening. It's not exactly like yours, its more consistently out of sync, and the audio that you hear doesn't match up with the audio wave, but the audio wave matches up with the video. My end goal is to post it on youtube to watch it on the app... I have figured out how to make it look good on YT desktop, but it is STILL out of sync on the mobile app. Other gameplay videos look fine. I'm losing my mind, it's been over a month I've been trying to figure this out. At this point I'd pay money for someone to tell me what the problem is.
Sometimes I feel like rogue developers put things in programs just to ruin people's lives. This feels like one of those things because it's so subtle you probably won't notice until it's too late into editing and the setting itself cannot be used for anything. Nothing would ever be at the framerate. GIANT L to the programmer who added that in.
I have an even worse problem. Randomly the clip audio jumps to a different point, pans, sometimes i even have two audios playing at once in both ears and around 30 seconds before the end of the audio when you should still hear something it just ends and theres no audio anymore. I have never had this problem in 2 Years of using davinci and it just randomly thought it would be funny to just fuck up my clips. If someone has an idea what could fix this, i would very much appreciate it
Ok, i found out, that the preinstalled Video app, that i used to roughly cut the clips i wanted to use, contorts these clips in a way Davinci Resolve has a problem with. So im just gonna use something else

Same thing is happening to me with one particular video, it's at 60fps, resolve settings are at 60 fps. Clip attributes read 60 fps. But the audio is still not in sync. I can play it on a media player unedited and it's fine. But not in resolve. It's driving me bonkers! Glad you found a solution though!
@@thejury94 I record all my vids with shadow play. Might be something that irons itself out after rendering, haven’t tried that yet. But so far shadowplay hasn’t been an issue. If it continues I’ll just swap back to obs.
Shadowplay records with a variable frame rate, which DR doesn't understand. I suspect it chooses an average or initial frame and sets that as the frame rate for the video, which is why it is always wrong. You can either use a program like Handbrake to convert it or unfortunately start using a different recording method.

Most cases it works fine, I think Variable frame rates confuse the system
I tried doing this, but it didnt help, I did everything in the video, is there any other way?
What did y9ou record the original video with?
I used GeForce
@@Exodire ah yep, GeForce record in variable frame rate, which Davinci resolve can't process properly. You may need to convert the video into a Fixed frame rate with a program called handbrake.
@@thejury94 ok, tysm
There's been a few vids where this happened, but seemed to be only while editing it. once rendered it was fine... But the video I edited tonight, no dice. As soon as you mentioned frame rate, I realized mine wasn't an even 60 either, and must be slowly but surely going out of sync... Wish I had been clever enough to figure that out before I had to go back and render it, again, and potentially need to edit it all over lol. Thanks for the vid.
Glad I could Help :)
@@thejury94
EDIT: After admitting defeat, and rendering my edited video, I was horrified to see the problem has magically gotten worse. With no other place to look, I started looking up NVidia Share issues.
Apparently, NVidia Share/Shadow play uses Variable Frame Rates (VFR) which apparently doesn't mesh with Davinci Resolve (allegedly, the professional version now has built in options to fix this).
I'm currently running my raw recording through Handbrake set to a Constant Frame Rate (CFR). If this doesn't work, I'll update this comment again, but this appears to be the problem.
----------------------
I'm still having a problem, and hoping you can help. Audio drift is still incrementally getting worse over the length of the clip. Seems the attribute changes did not fix the issue. I feel like I have played with every setting and button, and watched or read dozens of things by now, none of which have worked.
To run things down:
I have a 2hr long gaming clip. I've watched the OG recording (made with NVidia Share/Shadowplay), and there's nothing "wrong" with it. The original recording has no such audio drift.
The clip and timeline attributes in Davinci are set to 60FPS, before adding any media to the timeline itself. I've tried this with the original Timeline I had noticed the issue on, as well as a fresh project, with no difference.
My original Timeline had cut the clip down to

Hey man, the thing doesnt work, i changed vfr to cfr and did the things you did in the video itself, but it still does not work. Would you happen to have anymore insights, or is this something that cant really be fixed?
after doing this it's still out of sync for me, any suggestions on what else might be the problem?
I have a bizarre issue, and I can't find an answer how to fix it. I have videos I edit in Davinci resolve and I meticulously match the audio with the video. When I upload it to TH-cam and watch the video on my pc everything is fine. However when I watch that same video on any other device UT is out of sync and I don't undertand why. I follow youtubes formating requirements and still have this issue. Does anyone know why this happens. I'm so frustrated
Not all heroes wear capes. Thank you!!!!!
Happy to help!
I'm trying to upload my first video ever, but I was having this issue and didn't know what to do. Your video showed me how to fix it! 👍😊
Btw the TH-cam video was "What Frame Rate Should You Be Filming In?" by Potato Jet. Or the link to the video is here th-cam.com/video/e6HZPmSlS5c/w-d-xo.html (Not promoting anyone, just sharing info :)
That's very interesting, might be worth looking into some more
what if its a videogame recording where the fps changes?
Video formats are either in Variable Frame rate or Fixed frame rate.
Software like shadowplay will record in variable frame rate, which Davinci resolve doesn't understand. From my understanding Adobe struggles too, but I've not 100% confirmed.
You can use Handbrake to convert these video formats to fixed to get around it. Or record using software that doesn't record in variable frame rate
@@thejury94this did it really appreciate it
@@vraptork181 no worries :)
This is great - but - what do I do if the source clip I'm using has a frame rate with a decimal? (VHS capture with frame rate of 29.89 frames/second, lmao) Resolve won't let me enter a "."
*crying and sobbing*
That sucks, I wonder is handbrake can change the frame rate?
@@thejury94 Thanks for the idea! I've heard of handbrake but haven't tried it. I'll see if I can figure it out lol

Fantastic!
Already follow
and nothing change
and when i check my vids
it show that it has 59,98 frame rate
why?
What do you record with?
@@thejury94 Ok. gonna be long to say XD
I use Geforce Experience for recording
and This is actually weird
When i see the video its normal (There's no problem)
But when i put it on Davinci its kinda bug out like out of sync between Audio and Video
@@Henruls yea that's Gforce. SHadowplay record in Variable frame rate (VFR) which DR doesn't really understand (I assume it tries to average the speed of the video over the timeline and doesn't change the audio), You should try converting the footage to fixed frame rate with handbrake.

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! I was dying inside thinking I'd have to stay up all night to fix the audio of each talking head. I looked at your video, switched the clip attributes from 23.976 fps to 24 fps, and bam! everything was in sync, all the way through. Why Davinci Resolve imported my clips - which were shot at 24 fps - at 23.976 fps, I don't know. But I'm so glad to have an easy fix to this horrible problem. Thanks!

I really hope this works. I was chopping up audio to re allign and it took ages. Thanks allot for this
Let me know if it does!
Been having this issue only as of late and the one thing I've changed going into this problem was saving my videos to an external HDD rather than my SSD. Might be the root cause.
Ahh, I'm not sure, everything I use is on my SSD
@@thejury94 Fair enough. Just thought I'd throw that out there cause I had never run into an issue like that until I started saving my clips to HDD
I am having the same issue and followed this exactly but still hasn’t fixed it. Any more guidance you could give me?
What did you record with?
@@thejury94 I recorded with GeForce experience at 1080p 60fps, the audio and video were recorded through GE so anytime I play the video outside of Davinchi it’s fine even in Clipchamp there is no Audio sync issues. I switched over to filmora to test it again.
@@masonparish1637 This is a common problem with GeForce. GF records at a Variable frame rate which DR doesn't understand and so I assume it gives it either an average frame rate or samples it. You can use programs like Handbrake to change the footage from Variable to fixed frame rate.

Thank you so much!

What did you record the video with?
@@thejury94 I record all my vids with shadow play. Might be something that irons itself out after rendering, haven’t tried that yet. But so far shadowplay hasn’t been an issue. If it continues I’ll just swap back to obs.
Shadowplay records with a variable frame rate, which DR doesn't understand. I suspect it chooses an average or initial frame and sets that as the frame rate for the video, which is why it is always wrong. You can either use a program like Handbrake to convert it or unfortunately start using a different recording method.
@@thejury94 Thats super helpful actually, thanks for the input! First issue I've ran into with Shadowplay. Didn't even think of the variable frames causing this issue. The quality is great, but I'll just switch back to obs to avoid that in the future.
