Would you get a bit more if you traded in before the new year, say Oct or Nov, as the car will be considered a year older come Jan?

That one is a slippery slope, because towards the end of the year most dealerships are trying to make qoutas, so if they cant flip it and sell it quickly or make a substantial amount from the trade in, they probably would rather offer you less compared to the start of the year where theres plenty of car buyers. And they have the whole year to make quota.
So you can say its good, but at the same time its not
