  • Welcome back to Dr Drainz of Apple Drains North Carolina, and welcome inside my beat laboratory!! 🥁
People always ask us what is the best rock to use for French Drains. We have two different kinds of stone we are going to use today. The first is called 57 Wash stone and the second is called Railroad cobble, that is a bit larger than the 57 Wash. The weight of the stone are different (Railroad cobble about 12 lbs; 57 Wash about 13 lbs). What makes the difference is we want as much water to go through the rock as possible and when talking about the same volume but different weights means that with more rock, the less water can pass through.
Here I will give real examples to show you how much of the water passes through. Enjoy the Rock Lobsta challenge! 🦞

Great video! Thanks for the information. How would the “styrofoam peanut” pipe compare to the “rock” drain pipe system? Again, thanks for the information!!

@@drdrainz3941 I'd like to see someone test the max flow of smooth-wall vs corrugated. With two tubs I think it'd be easy to show corrugated can barely handle over half of what Smooth-wall can handle.
The internet is confused where I know a single sump pump (a 98GPM pump) can move basically the same amount of water as 4-in corrugated installed at 2% slope. I know b/c we use dual 6 or single 8 per acre with the flash-floods here.

@@a80286b Apple banned me for sure but IDK about FDM. He's gotta keep an eye on me b/c I've got more ideas for videos if YT can get the audience. Either way it's insane that cities don't have their own videos showing what's acceptable & what isn't, my city doesn't even permit corrugated b/c we have low-slopes.
