- "The lightning storm outside illuminated my cabin through the porthole, and I felt a sense of darkening dread wash over me followed quickly by wave of nausea. I had been at sea for the better part of a week, and my stomach had not yet gotten accustomed to the slow but purposeful swaying of the ship. The voyage I was on was long and arduous, but I was determined to sea it through...the horror I had to leave behind. My friends...even some of my family had been slain and I was the one who had found the bodies, the unshakeable image of their flayed corpses, the tendrils of intestines coiling around like so many gore-covered snakes...these images still haunted me. I swallowed hard, a feeling I felt all the way down to my own stomach, and I knew I had to use the nearby lavatories once more...damn to hell this swaying ship. I then got up with a wobble, and made by way over to the small room that housed the toilet and then suddenly, just like the spell of nausea had suddenly swept over me, it just as quickly left. I didn't feel it at all...in fact, I didn't feel anything...my head slowly cocked down and I saw why...long, rusty 3 ft blades had punctured my stomach and ran me clean through. The Scissorwalker had found me...and my sea journey was at an end."

Yeah, kinda hard to root for someone so terminally stupid. I think I'd be looking for ways to feed her to the monster if I were at the controls.
The really funny thing is that you get to play as other characters, and they move around just as poorly as Honkers does, but without the justification. Rooney, the "real" main character, is probably the worst offender - she's a sober waif in sensible shoes who uses almost exactly the same jogging animation.
@@JeedyJay I'd say everyone's trashed if I was making the game to justify why they handle so poorly.
She also refuses to step over one of those little silk rope barriers while she's in the middle of being chased, despite the exit being past that barrier.

To those interested in where this game goes beyond this first hour. You could watch the Ending of this Game and know just as much of whats going on in it as someone who watched the full 6-7 hours of Guidethrough. This Game has you floundering about doing Side Quests and performing Actions that you would NEVER under any circumstance be able to figure out without a Guide.There is very little story keeping this thing together and a Major Chunk of the Plot is straight up missing from it's release because The Devs couldnt meet Stretch Goals from their Kickstarter. Want to know which chunk? The Chunk that EXPLAINS the MONSTER. You get a vague idea of what it is from a few lines of Dialogue and thats it. Never fully fleshed out or given any depth.
While these problems are Unforgivably awful this game isnt without its share of interesting moments. The Best Ending was by far my favorite part of the Game even if it had me going WTF?! by how screwy it was. There are also some scenes sprinkled into the second half of the game that made me crack a smile and/or laugh at how whacky they were. If you were to watch this i would stick to All Cutscenes/All Death Scenes Compilations.

Night Cry: Lets take everything that made Clock Tower (snes) a cult classic and make it horrible, and take everything bad about it and make it 100x worse.
And somehow the original creator of Clock Tower was on the team and thought this was okay. That's the saddest part.

You want sad, go look up the whole creative team according to the kickstarter page. The director of Ju-on/The Grudge, the composer for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and an apparently top tier CG animator.
That original creator isn't just on the team - he's the director and writer. This is _his_ game.

Guys, I dunno about you, but I like the new Harry more than the original Harry. His game may be different, but I like it more to be honest. The way original Harry was hamming it up with the vending machines was ridiculous, this Harry is more rebellious and gritty, which really speaks to me.

I played the DMC: Devil May Cry game its not bad(bit too easy on devil hunter mode) and new Dante character is fine. He's different just like original Dante(He was different in ever DMC game)

I miss the sun. Such a sentence I never thought I would utter. While I am not a complete recluse, I had never thought I would be cut off from it so much, to be confined to this unnatural lair and never see the outside world again. This trek of mine was no doubt a foolish one, though my arrogance and desire for answers had blinded me when I had set out. This journal remains my anchor to sanity as I wander the moist passages of this place. My body remains confused, no longer sure of how deep beneath the tainted earth it is. For the last few days, my senses had been dulled by the ever present stench of rotten meats and fruits, moulded pie crust scattered on every wall and floor within rusted tins, carelessly discarded and forgotten by the thing. Crudely carved into the walls is a question, a constant, repeating demand for something or someone.

Those words serve to remind me that it is not some feral beast that dwells here. Something sapient, though no less dangerous dwells within this 'Woolie Hole'.

Man, this game is such a nightmare when it comes to controls and pacing. Fun to see just how out of nowhere things get violent and how hammy that gore gets. A man hung on a ceiling fan makes me forget we're going through a horror game.

It's a very charming game. It has just enough quality and actually good and scary ideas that its flaws become endearing.

That, and it appears that the controls do whatever they want. If I'm playing a game where I'm being chased by a monster, I'd rather not stop every few seconds, as if the character is admiring the wood paneling on the walls.
To be honest, it's probably because it hearkens back to a time when horror games weren't just shoot'em up action fests, or minimal effort, jump scare, walking simulators.
I don't see how that justifies shitty, unreliable controls. I don't remember Silent Hill being that fickle.

That way you can always see what you’re looking at but you could only make out a small fraction of a creature if you happen to reveal a portion of it.

I'm only 4 minutes in but I really hope this is scary. If not then I hope they don't do more games that aren't scary. They always do start of the shitstorms a little strong like Outlast, Layers of Fear, and Anatomy. Wish anatomy wasn't a way to kick it off but I hope they play more games like it for this. I was actually getting excited by the title screen and shut off all the lights and isolated myself in my room to get ready.

I'm pretty sure they already did spookies house and the hospital Dlc last year. They might do Claire and lonr survivor since they're both very creepy silent hill esque games. Hell they might even play the SNES demake of silent hill 2 since it's only the first level.

Silent Hill, Clock Tower, Resident Evil, Rule of Rose - all horror games with shitty controls and intended handicaps.
Sorry, but out of those games the only one with really frustrating controls is Clock Tower, because in the original they tried to emulate the feeling of a slasher movie, trying to escape from the murderer, and it really doesn't translate well to 3D.
Fuck games like that man, that doesn't make it scarier. Games like Anatomy sure didn't need it and I was much more scared than those with crippled controls.
Are you shitting me?? The controls were not THAT bad to be frustrated about. Also that is part of the genre. You know what game doesn't have shitty controls? Dead Space. You know what's also not a good horror game? Dead Space. Good controls does not mean a good horror game.
