I really enjoy these magazine flip through ,just goes to show you rock really needed a kick up the arse in 85 just before thrash started to blow up , I think I would of saved my 80p that week and brought a couple of cans of cheap lager 😂
@@Rods__73 Haha absolutely the right move. There's one of these with Phil Collins on the cover 😂 next video I'll pull out some bad Kerrang covers but go through a metal hammer 🤘
Hi Mickey!!! hard to believe the lack of "heavy" bands in that issue and seeing John Parr (he looks like S. Hagar) on the cover is a head scratching thing, imo..... i know the song was/is cool, but not enough to put him on the from cover.... cheers
Hello there!, I think I'm about your age and 1985 is a bit early for my interest in metal. Gary Holton worked with Casino Steel from Norway in the early 80s. They were a lot on Norwegian TV i that period.
That guy must have paid Kerrang to put him on the cover. Never heard of him. Looks about as metal as Sammy Hagar. Looked him up and he did soundtracks for films like St Elmos Fire...no idea why he's in a hard rock/metal mag
I don't think the 16 year old me in 1985 would have been any the wiser about John Parr. Comparing him to Bryan Adams was probably the kiss of death. Are all the posters missing from that issue?. Hence the thin page count.
Really enjoy these Kerrang and Metal Hammer look throughs, a nice bit of nostalgia, happy memories of the 80s!
@@Mannequin59 thank you 🥰
John Parr solo artist who wrote soundtrack to St Elmo’s Fire

The best thing in here is the Noise ad! I bet the magazine was already delivered with those loose pages to whipe your butt with, hahaha...
@@albertampel4175 😂 yes it's not the most packed issue. Still, at least you learned about Gary Holton. Auf Weidershen ! 🤘😂
Only other blanc tapes apart from tdk i can think of were basf tapes good video mike 👍
Not the most exciting mag you’ve done but these look backs are awesome..Very nostalgic
Cheers Mike
@@metalmartymac Yeah I can't argue with that mate 😂. Still, I bought them all so I'm using them all 😂
@ Cool, looking forward to more of them
John Parr did a song called "Naughty, Naughty" as well as "Man In Motion" which was on the soundtrack album for St Elmo's Fire.
@@stephanniebrewster2968 Oh I remember that naughty song. Hope you are well Steph

@@MB-oc1nw Agreed. I bet it was a push from his label. I used to like St Elmo's Fire but not seen it for years
